A gasp escaped Seraphina's lips when she slipped and felt herself fall back. Her hand shot forward wanting to grab the carriage door to hold herself back, but her hands couldn't hold it in time as the weight of her body pulled her down.
The anger she had been feeling was now replaced by fear as her heart thumped loudly in her chest.
Instead of falling on the ground as she had anticipated, she felt herself fall in the arms and hard chest of the man behind her. The silver-haired man.
The silver-haired man's hand strongly wrapped around Seraphina's waist and upper back as he carried her in his arms. His hot breath fell on Seraphina's face.
The hot tingling breath mixed with the sweet masculine scent of the silver-haired man filled the nostril of Seraphina. Blinking rapidly to recover from the fear and shock of falling, she heard the silver-haired man whisper in her ears.
"I told you, you will fall," He said in a matter-of-fact tone with a bit of mockery laced behind his words which Seraphina caught immediately and she wriggled to free herself from his hold.
"Put me down." Seraphina hissed angrily at the silver-haired man still trying to get down, but his strong hands held in her place.
A sly smile tugged on the lips of the man which was perfectly hidden behind his silver mask, but the taunting glint in his eyes couldn't be denied that he wasn't enjoying what was happening.
"Put you down?" He questioned back in a clueless tone. "Didn't you badly want to be in my arms? That is why you did not pay heed to my warning. No?"
His deep masculine voice reached Seraphina's ears and traveled down her body to the tips of her toes. The tingling sensation felt sweet and good in her body, and a smile crept to her already flushed face.
With an internal sharp slap on her cheek, Seraphina woke herself from the thoughts that were messing with her head.
'Did I actually think that? Or was someone's thought invading my senses?' Seraphina questioned herself with a disbelieving expression on her face. 'It had to be someone else's thought, it can't be mine. God! Seraphina.' She immediately denied her thoughts. And as she did so, came the strong pull of anger surging inside her with full force wanting to consume the man with it.
She ignored the latter words of the silver-haired man and forcefully pushed on his chest. She gritted her teeth in annoyance and spoke in a clipped tone, "I. Asked. You. To. Put. Me. Down! Who wants to be badly in your stu… arms?!" Seraphina bit her tongue to stop the word stupid from escaping her mouth. She couldn't go insulting the man who offered his help and had caught her before she could fall. She was not that impulsive. But the next thing that happened made Seraphina have a huge thought reverse of being grateful to the man.
"Oh?" The silver-haired man muttered under his breath as if he was disappointed. "No word of thank you or appreciation," He continued to say. And as he spoke, he slowly released his hold on Seraphina's body, watching her as if he was performing an experiment.
The slow movement of his hand in releasing Seraphina was soon replaced with a fast movement that Seraphina didn't notice or saw it coming. The silver-haired man entirely removed his hand from Seraphina, and she came crashing to the ground she would have fallen some minutes ago if she had not been caught by him.
"Ahh!" Seraphina screeched in pain from falling flat on her bottom. The pain stung deep into her skin as she felt the soft flesh will get broken. This was the second time she had fallen on her bottom. The first being the time she jumped her window, and now this! The pain felt incredible on her bottom.
Lucy who had been behind Seraphina and the silver-haired man with a smile on her face at her best friend's childish acts, rushed forward to help her up. Though it was funny, she didn't like what the man did and subtly glared at him as she helped Seraphina up.
With difficulty, Seraphina managed to stand with the help of Lucy. She felt sore and dirty as rubbed her aching bottom.
The blazing fire raging inside Seraphina intensified tenfold as she murdered the silver-haired man with a hard and feracious glare. She furiously pointed her shaking index finger at him and bellowed, "W…what did you do that for?!"
"Do what?" The silver-haired man innocently questioned back. The smile hidden behind his mask stretched so wide he wanted to laugh, but had to hold it back by biting his lips.
Seraphina couldn't hold it in anymore, she marched forward still feeling the pain that reminded her how this man had let her fall flat to the ground. Still, he was making fun of her, and she was definitely sure he had a wide smile behind that stupid silver mask of his with the way he was looking at her.
She hissed painfully, trying to maintain the angry and hard voice she was using. She questioned back in furry, "Why did you have to drop me like that?!"
The silver-haired man looked at Seraphina in glee. He was having a very fun time with the way she was behaving like a furry cat. Such a fierce cute little girl. He thought and let out a chuckle he had been trying to hold in for a long time and this infuriated Seraphina more.
"Don't tell me you are dumb, Ms. Castiel?"
"You! Wha…"
"Shush," The silver-haired man quietened her before she could retort. He walked forward and stood in front of her. Leaning towards her, he whispered into her ear, "If I remember correctly, you specifically asked me to 'Put. You. Down. Isn't that right? Even your friend can testify to it." He said making sure he stressed the exact words of Seraphina.
Yes, those were her words. But he could have done it in a gentlemanly way, not dropping her as if she was some sack.
Seraphina took two steps back to get away from the man. His deep masculine voice and his breath and sweet smell were clouding and messing with her senses. She nervously coughed as her eyes darted around the place in a confused manner before they settled on the man.
She opened her mouth to speak but was greeted with the beautiful sight of the man that made the angry words she wanted to use fly from her brain.
"You…you could h…have gently dropped me and not thrown me down." Seraphina retorted in a slightly dazed way.
'What is wrong with you, Seraphina? Get a hold of yourself. Remember you should be angry with him, not let his actions get to you. He's not your lover, neither is he the one who holds your heart.'
"I don't know what gentle means." The man answered with a thoughtful look. "Besides, I did what you asked. 'Put. You. Down." He stressed the word again.
Seraphina was speechless. Where did this man come from? She questioned herself.
Lucy went to her friend and grabbed her hand. She whispered to her, "Phina, let's go. We've wasted a lot of time. Your parents might be home." She felt that this mysterious silver-haired man was too much for Seraphina to handle, and even she who loved trouble. So it was better they went home and saved their necks from the trouble at home than with this man.
"You're right, Lucy," Seraphina agreed with her friend. "I don't know why I wasted my time in the first place. Let's go," She said and glared at the man who was enjoying his time with the drama being displayed for him.
He watched her walk away with her friend in another direction. 'Seems like she didn't want to take the carriage anymore.' He thought. But then she suddenly stopped and turned back before walking back toward him. His brows scrunched as he watched her reach him with pure arrogance written on her face. He heard her say,
"Did you think that after you made me fall, I would walk home with my aching bottom? I'll comfortably use your carriage. Pfft!" Seraphina spat and climbed into the carriage with Lucy who shook her head at her friend's childish behavior.
The silver-haired man chuckled to himself before he climbed and joined the ladies inside the carriage. What a feisty woman. He thought and the coachman slapped the horse's back to get the vehicle moving.
Slowly at first, the carriage rode out of there and into the main town, and it hit its full speed when it changed its direction towards the house of Seraphina.
