Edward's voice came through the speakerphone, warm and brimming with enthusiasm. "This is excellent news," he said. "The Galloways have been nothing but glowing in their feedback. Staying a few extra days could solidify that connection further."
Mark leaned against the desk, his arms crossed and his jaw tight as he listened. He looked like he was calculating every possible downside to Edward's plan. I sat on the edge of the bed, fidgeting with the hem of my sweater, trying to gauge Mark's reaction.
"We'll stay," Mark said finally, his tone clipped. "But only until Thursday. I have work piling up that needs my attention."
Edward's chuckle carried through the line. "I'll take what I can get. Enjoy the time, both of you. Make the most of it— Mr. Galloway is a powerful ally, and Mrs. Galloway's warmth towards you both could go a long way."
