This alerted the whole camp.

As he gave the order, several knights ran over from their various tents, fully clad in armor.
They dashed towards the makeshift wooden walls because the base didn't have much time to prepare and didn't believe this would actually turn into an assault, so they used stakes to build these small wooden walls.
The knights stood behind them with their shields up.
