The Strongest Beta is My Luna

Every 3 years, warriors from packs all over the world were forced to attend the cruel training camp ran by the ruthless Avondale pack. Knowing only few could survive, Clare Miller volunteered to go in her brother’s stead. She vowed to defeat the ruthless alpha, Leonel Wood, after she became the strongest beta. However, when it was time to choose where her loyalties lie, her mind was made up but her heart had a different answer. *** “Mate,” he commanded and I froze. His hand cupped my cheek firmly. The fire in his eyes raged between anger and understanding, judgment and mercy, life and death… “What do you want?” I asked. My heart thundered as I waited for the verdict. Slowly his thumb ran over my lips and his hand smoothed a hot trail from my cheek through the valley between my breasts over my belly and lower. "You." His eyes held mine as the heat rose inside of me. "But I don’t always get to make the easy choice.” “You always have the choice.” I looked him in the eye. “Until now.”

Chapter 22: John's Decision

Clare POV

I threw my hair into a ponytail and glanced at myself in the mirror. I looked just as awful as I felt, with big bags under my eyes. After waking up from my nightmare, I wasn’t able to fall back asleep. So, now I was tired.

And cranky.

But the sun was beginning to rise and there were a few more things that I wanted to do before heading off with Leonel. I grabbed a small bag that I could throw a hairbrush, my toothbrush, and a few more feminine items in. I was sure it was stuff Leonel wouldn't even dare to think of.

There was a light knock on my door and I felt my heart skip a beat. There was no way it was Leonel. Then again…he was in my mind. Could he have known I was thinking of him?

And why was I excited to see him again?

‘Get yourself together, Clare!’

I continued to scold myself as I walked over to the door to open it. Despite my thoughts, I couldn't help but feel hopeful that I would see Leonel's face on the other side of the door.
