"You okay?" Passing her the coffee, Holly suggested, "You should take a day off if you aren't feeling well."

"I am fine." Taking the coffee, Evelyn added, "I don't want to talk to Davis early in the morning. Let me start a day without talking or getting taunted by him."

"Hey Evy, Davis is calling you," Mathew informed her.

"What does he want now?"

"I have no idea, he just told me to call you," he answered.

Helpless shaking her head, Evelyn got up. "I am telling you Holly, the heavens hate me. I don't know how and when I pissed them off."

After she left, Mathew asked, "What is wrong with her?"

"Nothing unusual, Davis is after her life."

"I heard about the project—"

Raising her brows, Holly smiled at him. "You heard or inquired about it because it's related to Evelyn?"

Ms Holly Rivera, aren't you smart?"

"Of course I am sir."

"Stop calling me that, it feels weird," Mathew retorted. "Anyway, I wanted to ask you about yesterday's meeting. Did Davis give Evelyn 'The Golden Night' project?" When Holly nodded her head, he sighed, "I don't know what to do with him."

"What do you mean? He did not discuss this with you?"

"Of course not, what makes you think I would agree on giving Evy such a difficult project which is almost impossible to complete?"

Mathew Cornel was the second department head alongside Davis. Unlike Davis, he was very good and understanding. He did not like giving the employees a hard time and always tried to persuade Davis to do the same.

"Did you try to talk to him?"

"I did but he wants Evelyn to do it and I have no idea why. I even told the higher ups that we should give up on inviting Edward Simmons to the show but they want to stick to their decision," he explained.

"Were you out of the city? I heard you were out of office for a whole week," Holly inquired.

"I was out for some official work, we were supposed to do this meeting after I was back but Davis preponed it."

"Well, he isn't fond of you as well," she chuckled.

"I don't like working with him either, I don't know why the company hired two heads for this department," he bellowed.

"This department is the biggest one so it's understandable but you can always request for a department change, right? Grinning at him, she teasingly asked, "Why aren't you doing that then?"

"Your grin is very evil," he remarked.

"You know Matthew, why don't you just ask her out? Having a secret crush on her is not gonna help," Holly suggested.

"So are you trying to tell me that your friend will agree if I ask her out?" When she shook her head, Matthew smiled, "You asked the question and you also have the answer."

Meanwhile, Evelyn was having a very hard time dealing with Davis.

"I am still working on it."

"Show me your file," Davis instructed.

"I—I don't have a file yet but—"

Cutting her off, he snapped, "You don't have a file yet? Are you serious? Evelyn Simmons, don't take this project lightly. I am telling you—"

"You gave this project yesterday," she frowned.

"So? It's already been twenty-four and you did not even start working on it yet," he snapped.

Closing her eyes, Evelyn took a deep breath before telling him in the most polite manner she could. "Davis, I am working on the project but it's very difficult. The information you gave me is very limited, I need to find out so many things about him before even thinking about convincing him to come to the show. You have to give me some time."
