Meet The New Girl

"Okay class, quiet down! Quiet!" the teacher spoke aloud to her students, showing no mercy or fear and especially no hesitation in inflicting her authority over the youngsters.

She was a gorgeous brunette woman looking to be in her mid-thirties, entering the classroom with papers and coffee in hand. Once she was at her desk at the head of the room, she grabbed a wooden ruler by one end and loudly slapped the other end on the surface of her desk in order to gain her students' full attention. All at once, the students seized their mindless chatter, and recognizing that their on-guard warden-like teacher was here, they instantly scurried to their seats and prepared their supplies for class, textbooks, pencils, notes, and the like.

The teacher smirked. She knew she had total control over her classroom, and it felt good.

Just as the classroom door was about to be shut at the sound of the second bell for first period, Felicia came storming into the room. She stopped the door with one hand at a mere crack open, and then she laughed out loud after having ran all the way from one side of the school to the next in search of the correct classroom. Getting lost in this labyrinth of lockers and doors, all too confusing and so many to choose from, was just way too easy.

"Phew, I made it!" she heaved as she caught her breath with her arms stretched outward at her sides, swung the door open as wide as it could go, and entered the room with a confident girly strut.

That's when she got a good look at the classroom. Or more importantly, all the uninviting stares she was receiving from everyone else.

Awkward silence filled the room for a significant while. Felicia's sense of relief for getting here on time was soon replaced with confusion as to why everyone was just glaring at her. Her smile slowly faded and turned into a curious frown as she scanned around the faces of all the other students who met her gaze. And then she came to only one plausible conclusion in her mind.

"Ah, I see! None of you can resist my beauty and so you're all speechless!" she exclaimed while making a super model's pose, leaning over slightly with one hand on her hip and the other on the front of her upper leg as if she were flirting, "Well, there's need for you to be shy! Just say you want some of me and—"

"Excuse me!" the teacher shouted, purposely interrupting Felicia's overly egotistical monologue, "I don't quite believe I recall you ever being in my class before. But if you insist on continuing your little outburst and disrupt us, then I have a good mind to send you straight to the principal's office!"

"But I was just there!" Felicia clarified, "It was already enough of a hassle of convincing my own family to fill out all that paperwork to get me into this school, and now I've got to deal with cranky professors the minute I walk in? What a pain! And besides, is that really anyway to speak to a new student on her first day? You should be graciously introducing me to the whole lot of these munchkins and stand me out even if I'm downright nervous," she was merely speaking on what she had heard about being the new kid in school, which she was actually excited to experience for herself, but it seems that will never come. And then her next remark really hit home, "Oh, don't look at me that way. Those wrinkles on your forehead will only make you look much older when you're reach your sixties, you know."

A few of the other students tried to hold back their snickers in the background.

A vein popped up on the side of the teacher's head. It hasn't even been two minutes and she has already had enough of this girl.

She immediately went for the phone on her desk and dialed for the school's main office. As soon as someone answered, she demanded to speak with the principal. It took a minute, but she was connected to the principal's phone line who responded with a calm, "Hello, can I help you?" before realizing who she was speaking to.

"Yes. There is a young lady here claiming to be a new student," the teacher started, "But she's disrupting my class and being extraordinarily rude to both me and the students! Please tell me she's wrong and she should be escorted out of the building."

"What's her name?" the principal asked.

"I'm afraid she never said it."

"Well, does this 'new student' have long white hair, then?"

"Yes, apparently so. Wait, you know of her?!" the teacher practically screamed having come to the shocking realization.

The principal sighed, "Unfortunately, the girl you're speaking of is indeed and officially a student at this school. Her name is Felicia Limoxberg, and despite her incredibly crude attitude, which I had the opportunity to experience firsthand when I met her for when she first applied, she's met all the necessary requirements to be qualified here. And because she is an attendee of our school, I expect her to be treated as such."

"You can't be serious!"

Felicia was listening in by temporarily enhancing her hearing using her magic on her own ears, so that she could hear both sides of the conversation.

"Believe me, if I could cast a spell to make all troublesome kids behave better, I'd do it. But it's not like that exists," the principal spoke.

Felicia felt offended by that remark.

The principal continued, "That's why we have to show our students that we have the discipline, hard work, and knowledge to handle them, and to prepare them for their individual futures. I'm begging you, Ms. Blake, please don't screw up on this one."

The teacher gritted her teeth as she said, "Uh-huh, I see. I understand. I'll do my best."

She exhaled as she hung up the phone. She looked back at Felicia who was smirking quite contently and with her teeth showing, knowing she has gotten away with being vulgar to her new professor. It made her feel almost giddy.

Giving her a mean glare or a simple cracking ruler on a desktop wasn't going to be enough to keep this student on the straight and narrow. She'll need to cook up something very clever for this young lady, that's for sure.

In the end, she kept her composure, smiled crookedly and said, "May I remind you are in a classroom, which means rudeness such as yours will not be tolerated. However, this is your first day, as you say, so I'll let you off with a warning. But just remember your place," she then pointed out to the rows of seats where the other students were sitting and witnessing this rare spectacle, "Now go take your seat at once! We are already five minutes behind schedule."

"Hmph! Whatever you say, ma'am," Felicia spoke sarcastically while grinning from ear to ear, flipping her glistening white hair with the flick of her wrist and did as she was told.

The classroom was quite huge and spacious once Felicia got a better look at it. Humming a sweet little tune as she walked down the aisles of space in between the desks, looking for an empty seat, she took into consideration every last pair of eyes that were set on her. She wondered what they all could be thinking right now. At last, she found an open desk in the furthest right column by the windows. Placing her bag on the floor beside her chair, she brushed off the wooden desktop with the palm of her hand, and she stopped humming as soon as she sat down.

Feeling like that took longer than it should have, the teacher sighed before saying, "Alright, if that's now settled, let's start the day, shall we?"
