It lasted a few seconds, but no one moved. Their worries grew with their fears when no answer came to their mind. The soldiers were paralysed, shaking, looking left and right while wishing as hard as they could for their comrades to tell them there was nothing to worry about.
"That was the sound of thunder, right?" One soldier asked, his neck muscles incapable to move.
"I see no cloud..." Someone replied, his voice short in air.
"An earthquake then, ever heard of earthquakes?" Their teeth-chattering situation became heavier with the silence that followed.
They were waiting for something, anything. They needed to either confirm their worst nightmares or be relieved of it.
