Prologue

" Watch out !" Scarlett screamed at the top of her lungs with horror in her eyes . It wasn't until she got closer did she realize that she didn't make it in time .

" Oh no no , please no , I can't lose you . I shouldn't have let you come alone . It's all my fault , I should have been here to keep you safe " tears rolled down Scarlett's eyes as she cried her heart out .

Scarlett sat there on the ground holding her bestfriend , Daisy in her arms . She couldn't believe the fact that she was holding Daisy's lifeless body in her hands .

Soon it was time for the elites to do their usual check . They came down towards the forest only to find Scarlett holding Daisy's lifeless body . They sent out words to the academy that they had found two students in the forest , out of which one was dead .

Elites were the soldiers of Bloodline Academy . Very few out of many are selected for this respectable work as they have to pass challenging tasks in order to qualify for this position . It was a very responsible position as it required for them to keep the academy safe .

They carried Daisy's body to the academy's infirmary and helped Scarlett back to the academy as she didn't seem to be in good shape .

On the way to the academy no one spoke a word . It was utterly silent as no one wanted to make the situation more mournful for Scarlett .

Everyone in Bloodline Academy knew about Scarlett and Daisy's friendship . They were known to be the friends who'd give their lives for each other . No one dared to come in between them as they knew they'd be put through hell if they crossed them . Daisy was all that Scarlett had and now that she'd lost Daisy , what would be the consequences ?

But what caused this horrifying incident to take place ? Was it even related to Scarlett and Daisy ? Did they provoke someone ? Questions and questions , that is all we're left with . For us to understand what was happening in the present , we have to dive into the past .

SIX MONTHS AGO :

Scarlett was living with her foster parents in a small town called Driscot . It was said to be so small that everyone knew each other in that town . Scarlett's foster parents - Joseph and Greta , loved her dearly .

Joseph and Greta were trying to have a child since eight years but luck didn't seem to be on their side . After a long time of struggle for a child , they decided they'd adopt a child . In a stormy evening , when Joseph and Greta were returning from the grocery store , they could see from a distance that there was something in their porch .

Someone seemed to have left a parcel for them . But as they got closer they realized it wasn't a parcel , it was a baby wrapped in a towel and left on their porch . From the looks of it , it seemed as though the baby was born just a few hours ago .

"Look , It's a baby girl. " said Greta with a huge smile on her face as she couldn't take her eyes off of the beautiful baby .

" Looks like someone left her out here on our porch . God must have heard our prayers and gifted us with a child ." replied Joseph looking at his wife with a broad smile .

They had already been discussing about adopting a child at the nearest orphanage and it didn't take them much time to get all the paper works for adoption done . They named the beautiful girl - Scarlett, after her red hairs . They were a loving couple and never once did they have a problem with calling an adopted child theirs . Living with them Scarlett never realized she wasn't their own child either .

Scarlett grew up in a surrounding that every child dreams of , a loving family , freedom and many friends at school . But what she didn't know was that her perfect life was about to come to an end .

It was her sixteenth birthday and everything seemed normal . Just as all her birthdays , she received gifts and wishes from morning , her parents were hosting a party for all her friends in the evening and the day was perfect .

Scarlett was very loved by everyone in the town and some people even envied her . Scarlett had wine red hairs which hung down to her waist . Smooth almond carved eyes which highlighted her small face . Her skin as white as snow which made her hairs stand out . Curvy features that made her look even more attractive . She was the most beautiful girl the townspeople had ever seen . Many guys had tried to ask her out but no one seemed to have won her heart .

On the day of her birthday , everything was perfect or should I say almost perfect . In the night after all the celebration was over , she started opening the presents in her room . While she was opening the presents , she found a very odd letter addressed to her without the information of the sender . She opened the letter and it read -

[ Dear Scarlett ,

A lot of things are going to change for you . Be brave and face them without fear , for they will change your life forever . Do not fear the gifts of nature , they're yours to yield .

Scarlett folded the letter in anger and began to walk to the dustbin around her door . " I'm gonna catch whoever pulled this prank on me " she seethed with anger as no one had ever dared to pull a prank on her especially not on her birthday .

She thought she should start with asking her parents who this letter came from . She went down to her parents' room and found that they were already asleep . So she decided to ask them in the morning over breakfast .

That night , Scarlett had a dream , one which didn't seem like a dream at all . Everything in that dream felt real and soon it turned into a nightmare . She found herself running away from something , she doesn't know who she's running from but all she knows is that whoever it is she's running from shouldn't catch her . " Red eyes " She gasps and wakes up .
