Chapter 4: Acceptance

"Who's her child?" the doctor asked to be sure.

"I'm Doctor! Please answer me." Lily replied without hesitation. She didn't feel like having long conversations.

She had already lost her father, Father Walker, in her childhood days. She couldn't lose her mother.

"Can I talk to you in my office ASAP?" the Doctor asked.

"Yes! Cathy, come, let's go together." Lily said, dragging her younger sister along so she could tag along with her.

Cathy didn't waste time following her sister as they walked into the office together with the doctor.

Master Chris then left the wall, walked to a bench close to the hospital ward, and sat down to wait for Lily. It was no wonder her looks were always off.

He had always wondered what it was that made her almost never smile.

It turns out her mother's health was at risk. She must really need money.

Why did she reject his offer then?

He remembered the tears that came out of her eyes immediately after she saw her mother.

Both she and her younger sister were passing through a whole lot together with their mother.

He had to help them somehow.

In the doctor's office.

The main Doctor generally known as Doctor Ryan, looked at the two sisters as he wondered if they knew what had just happened to their mother.

"Do you know your mother has blood cancer?" he asked, looking into their eyeballs.

"We know that Doctor and we have been doing our best to ensure she gets the best treatment." Lily replied with worry written all over her face.

"Well, your best is not enough. She is getting no treatment. Your mother needs urgent surgery. Before the end of today, you should be able to pay half of this; otherwise, you will lose your  mother." Doctor Ryan said, passing a bill to them.

Lily picked it up to take a look, and the amount she saw shattered all her hopes. "Ahhhhhhh!" she screamed at the Doctor.

"This is a hospital, Miss. If you have a problem, you should let me know calmly.

"Where will I get this amount of money from?" she asked the Doctor as another level of tears streamed down her face.

"She's your mother; I'm sure you want her to live. Well, you should know what to do. Remember, you only have a few hours." The Doctor answered, stood up, and left his office, leaving them there.

He had already seen cases like these.

He had already passed the stage of pitying patients.

Lily in the office looked at Cathy with teary eyes as she sobbed. "What do we do now?" she asked Cathy as she held her tummy in pain.

"Sis, will mom die?" Cathy asked as she looked at her older sister, Lily. Lily didn't know what to say, so she brought Cathy closer and hugged her tight.

As she was hugging her sister, something came into her mind. Letting go of her sister immediately, she smiled.

"There might be a way out of this." Lily said, looking at Cathy. "What do you think, Sis?" Cathy asked curiously.

"I have to come to a decision regardless of what it will cost me. I just have to. No more choices, Cathy. I'm glad he's here." She replied to Cathy.

At the mention of 'he is here,' Cathy could already guess what it was about because she too was really smart.

"Sis, are you sure?" Cathy asked, concerned.

"For mom's sake, I'm sure, Cathy." she was determined to fight through these hurdles with her mother.

Standing up, she walked out of the office.

On getting to where Master Chris was, she saw him trying to come towards them. He stopped when he spotted them coming.

"Master Chris..."

"I'm willing to make a transfer of one billion dollars to you as an upfront payment if you agree to my offer. Also, I'll ensure that you're more than financially stable all through your stay with me. I also promise to keep your mom safe," he said, placing his right palm on his chest like he was trying to make a pledge to both sisters.

Lily froze.

Why was he being so nice?

His offer got better just like that.

She had wanted to accept the offer since she could use the opportunity to ask for a percentage to solve her problem.

He just made things easier.

Like a huge cross had been lifted off her shoulders, she breathed a sigh of relief. Cathy was able to smile a bit in relief when she saw how everything was sorted.

"I agree," Lily said to him as she finally smiled. Master Chris heart pricked.

Her smile was indeed rare.

Picking up his phone, he called his assistant and instructed him to prepare all documents within thirty minutes. After that, he hung up his phone and looked at Lily.

"Can I have your account details?" he said to Lily. Lily froze.

"But we are yet to sign a contract."

"I don't think that's what is necessary now. Your mother's health is our priority now," he said assuringly.

Feeling at home, she typed her bank details on her phone and gave them to Master Chris. In less than three minutes, the credit alert notification got into her phone.

With joy, she ran to search for the doctor.

The doctor had gone back to his office to pick up something when he saw the two sisters.

"Is there a problem?" he asked them, as he had expected them to be on their way to search for money for their mother.

"I want to make the payment." Lily said, looking at the doctor. Doctor Ryan froze.

In less than twenty minutes? How did they do it?

"Okay, go ahead; I'm heading to the operating room now with your mother, along with my team," he said with seriousness.

"Sure Doctor!" Lily answered in relief. She just hoped the surgery would be a success.

She then rushed to make the payment with her sister.

In front of Master Chris, the nurses walked into the ward Mrs. Walker was in and took her out.

"Wait! What!" Chris Morgan shouted and stopped the nurses.
