Nightfall, Fan Sect

Lin Fan returned from Na Ran's Empyrean Temple after dropping her home for the night. He got half of her masochist bar to full and also greatly improved his understanding of the water law.

The water law and the metal law were also two important laws in the understanding of law of wood. A small little branch bifurcated and grew from Lin Fan's hand before it stopped at about one inch tall and got blown away in the wind. The only reason Lin Fan had come to a minor understanding of the law of wood was because of the parasitic roots of Lo Zhou and the strange energy, mannerisms, and behaviors of her roots.

The roots themselves weren't that special, but with the technique to conquer the roots came a connection with the wood element inside the parasites. To understand the law of fire you first needed the element of fire in your arsenal. Since Lin Fan had a perfect five element body ,it meant his understanding speed of the law of fire improved by leaps and bounds.

From the parasites, he discovered some traces of the wood element which were almost impossible to perceive in the outside world. In the outside world, the five elements would act as a buffer that stopped someone like Lin Fan from feeling their presence and therefore understanding it. In Lo Zhou's parasite spiritual roots, on the other hand, there was a clear window to the wood element and its tenacity, potential and elasticity. With that knowledge, he was beginning to gain a connection to the element of wood and was trying to slowly feed that to his metal overlord dragon

His metal overlord dragon seemed to actually love the wood element, and was slowly gaining a bark like membrane growing on its silver skin. This made Lin Fan feel excited because his speed of understanding the law of wood would drastically increase and as such would his ability to understand the secondary laws. The law of wood was a primary law and had strings connected to the five elemental laws and a few strands even to the law of space.

It was outstanding and exceptionally rare to find such a quick way to learn the law of wood.

Lo Zhou deserved credit for Lin Fan's growth as well as Na Ran. Together they had turned his slight chance of not dying in the Forbidden Tournament into a real possibility of beating Boris Lang and Grain Kan.

The law of wood would protect him from Grain Kan's illusions and would even act as to shield him from the gravity manipulation that Grain Kan had mastered so well. The only thing Lin Fan needed now was a beautiful girl who had mastered the law of fire.

The one girl he had in mind for the law of fire was actually standing in front of him as he watched Yan Ran play with the Goddess of Fire. They were cooking by a bombfire and the smell was so terrifying Lin Fan couldn't approach without caution. He nervously put his hands behind his back and made sure to eat before hand to avoid having to digest any foul food the day before the third round.

If he got food poisoning, he'd get disqualified and his potential of getting the Elf Monster Vault would forever disappear. His craving for the system alchemist pot was also great, but he still couldn't stop fantasizing about the Water Serenity Angel he saw in the vault. That being would greatly increase his ability to learn the law of water because her entire body moved with the law of water.

Lin Fan stopped thinking about that as he walked over to Yan Ran and coughed from the foul stench.

"Wow.. This is the most amazing thing I ever smelled! You really cook differently without Na Ran around!"

"My sister likes to calculate ingredients to the ounce... Meanwhile, I like to to play it by ear... I like to listen to the food cook..."

"Oh..." Lin Fan suddenly turned green as some strange leg surfaced to the top of the black pot that was boiling some strange food mixture... "Well, your sister gave me the great honor today of letting me eat her food... Would you girls mind telling me what you're making?"

"We're making bomb soup... It's supposed to make a man's body stronger before a battle!" The Goddess of Fire smiled as she tried a bite of the soup.. "I can tell this batch will be the one to make my sister explode!"

"I see... I... I'm so sad that I already ate earlier..." Lin Fan cleared his throat and walked over to the Goddess of Fire. "However, I would like to talk with your new friend... Yan Ran... Would you mind giving me and her a minute... I'd like to offer her a proposition..."

"I'm... I'm feeling drunk!" The Goddess of Fire slapped Lin Fan on the chest... "I can't go with you! I feel like I won't remember what happened in the morning! You're too hot! I'm not going anywhere by myself..."

"I...I must have added too much Sea Urchent Sauce... Damn it... Lin Fan... If she falls over, can you catch her! I forgot only demi-gods can handle this much sauce!"

"Why... why are there three of you, man? Hey! Don't touch me there! Get out of there!"

"No one is touching you?" Lin Fan sighed and looked at Yan Ran's pot as it bubbled and the strange sulfur scent coming out of it... "Anyways, I wanted to ask you if we can trade... If you help me learn the law of fire, I'll help you talk to the Goddess of Ice..."

"You... you think I like her?! No! I just went to the same school of her because she's cold! Since I'm so hot, we opposites have to stay together! I'm not falling for telling you the truth idiot!"

"She's just really close with her... However, the Goddess of Ice is already engaged... She's engaged to one of the princes from Sacred Light City... It could be my brother, but I forgot... Father gets around more then I'd like to remember... How many kids did he have on the side again? 1026?"

"Uhmm... Anyways, I really do need your help... Since you clearly like the Goddess of Ice, just invite her over here tomorrow, okay? I promise you'll be able to have a date where you'll both be able to share your feelings with each other... All I ask is for a little bit of time alone with both of you to do some experiments..."

"Screw it! I'm in! Just... just try some of this food man! Eat it!" The Goddess of Fire smiled before she lunged forward with her spoon and then dropped on Lin Fan's shoulder. He sighed and caught her before he put her down on the sleeping bags that the bunnies had so kindly brought out for them.

Lin Fan laughed and took of the spatial ring on the Goddess of Fire as she drifted off to sleep... There had to be something in here on the [law of fire]. He tucked her in an promised to return the ring to her tomorrow morning fully intact, will of all its contents and secrets duplicated in his own ring...

"You... you're something else..." Yan Ran said with a smile as she looked at Lin Fan putting the ring in his pocket... "You're good with my sister and my friends... Can you imagine when you finally have us all together? Will you be able to handle it?"

"Somethings, unlike food, can be savored in large quantities..." Lin Fan said with a curled up grin as he thought about the future... "However, your food is too special to be eaten in large quantities... I think I might die from feeding greedy! Remember to give it to the oldest soldiers first tonight okay?"

"Thanks... thanks for lying to me like my father..." Yan Ran said with a snickering smile as she kissed Lin Fan on the lips for the first time... "I like men who are good liars... However, now tell me, who kisses better... me or my sister..."

"I... I think I'm sick! I'll see you later!" Lin Fan turned and ran as Yan Ran laughed at his ridiculous excuse of escaping her... She smiled and looked down at the Goddess of Fire before she took out a small bowl of food she got from Princess Mane... Even she wasn't dumb enough to eat her own food...
