Fred, who was still in a trance, was still standing in the middle of the street when the spell-binders attacked. People ran past him. Some of the people ran into him and went past him, but he didn't snap out of his daze.
One person went past him and noticed Fred's situation. The person went and shook Fred. The person was a stranger to Fred. The stranger was a man.
"Snap out of it, Idiot! Our lives are being threatened!" The kind stranger said to Fred. The stranger took a step back and then took a deep breath. The stranger said to himself, "I don't like to hit people, but you are going to be an exception."
The stranger put weight in his right hand and slapped Fred. Fred was snapped out of his daze. Fred, out of reflex, hugged the stranger and lamented with tears repeatedly, "It killed them. They are gone."
The stranger pushed him away and said, "Hey, I am sorry for what happened to them, whoever they are. But we are under attack by spell-binders. Bye." The stranger ran away.
