Benard's Letter

In the camp just outside of the gates of fadian, the 30 year old James was sharpening his sword which previously belonged to his father while thinking about the good times he had with those who were dead which included Friton the prince, Kinla and his father. While he was still thinking, he didn't notice when his son Dominic sat beside him.

"Father what are you thinking about?" The 8 year old boy asked as he looked up at him.

" Oh Dominic you are here." He said as he come out of his thoughts.

"Why do you think so much?" He innocently asked.

" Don't worry about that son. It is just how a man thinks and you are a little boy." He said as he held his hand.

" I hope you know that the festival of lights is coming soon and I want you to be there. You refused to come the last time it happened." He said with a sad voice.

" I am busy right now trying to hold up Fadian's defenses because of that scary man I told you about bit I will try to attend with you and your mother."

" Thank you father and here is your food and wine." He said as he gave him the food and wine.

James immediately dug in and gave Dominic some of the bread.

After he had eaten, he then took him to the gates where he ran back home happily.

As he got back to the camp, Varlom immediately came to meet him.

"James, we just got a letter from the snake army telling us to prepare for Benard's entrance into Fadian." He said as he held up the letter to his face as he snatched it.

"Make sure that you block any entrance into Fadian. Benard will never succeed." He said as he threw the letter into a nearby fire and went to the commander of the Fadian army Baldwin who was sitting in his tent.

"Baldwin, you know that we have an issue and we must solve it as quickly as possible." He said as he entered the tent.

" I know that James and I have called for more men to protect the walls of Fadian from him."

He said as he faced James.

" I feel like there might be someone working for Benard internally." James suggested.

" What do you mean by that." He asked as he stood up to face him.

" I mean Benard had sounded so confident in his letters knowing that the Fadian army outnumbers his men."

" Might be true but maybe he has a bigger plan. After all he has attacked and invaded many cities without any internal help. I and my generals will hold a meeting to try to counter any possible plan to attack Fadian."

James then left the tent to sleep in his tent with his sword by his side.
