Our Origin

It's been a while new couples marked eachothers and the spring ended !

We are expecting 20 pups this season.

That's a very good thing but, being the Alpha is testing my patience !

Wasn't Robert enough that, Katherine too joined his team to get on my nerves ?

A little relief, she is busy with her mate now and finally reduced her interaction with me !

But still she says something stupid about Jenifer and I loose my mind.

Daniel always have to jump between to save her life !

A good thing is, Katherine have conceived the baby as well, Dani is going to be a father.

I am sure he'll become a very good father for his pups.

And if he tried to be an ass to the pups, I'll kick his ass and take those pups under my influence, with the authority of an Alpha !

But I am sure, he won't do anything like that.

He is very busy taking care of Katharine now a days.

She have become very furious in her pregnancy !

She isn't used to wander as a wolf now.

And being a human while she is pregnant might be dangerous for the pup.

As the gustation period for human females is nine months while for wolf is only two or two and a half months.

If she wander around as human, her pregnancy might last for nine months which'll definitely suffocate the pups in her womb, so Cathsia warned her to stay a wolf during her pregnancy.

She gets very angry at minute things and Dani have no idea how to deal with her mood swings !

It's very funny to watch him surrender to her like she'll rip his throat off if he dared disobey her !

She got used to wearing beautiful clothes and using make up and be neat and clean.

But the pregnancy got her stuck in her wolf form and it's driving her nuts.

But Cathsia is right, her turning can harm the pups in her womb.

The place and structure of human and wolf womb is definitely different !

She might turn, but her pups would remain the same and that can even kill them !

It's a very pleasant morning today. Nobody wakes up this early, but I am used to getting up early even when I was a human and that habit didn't left me !

There is a nice silence spread over the forest and our camp. Everything is very peaceful and I enjoy this silence.

I love when the fog is spread like a sheet covering us in it. I love to enjoy my tea sitting on the ground infront of my chamber.

Me and Dani have enjoyed our tea countless times here, but since Kathrine is driving him nuts, I have barely met him !

I miss him so much. I am used to spend most of my time in his company and so, as he is busy taking care of his mate, I feel lonely sometimes. But I am happy for my best friend found his mate.

I wonder where he is right now and what is he doing ? I looked around and take in the morning scenery and I saw something under a tree. It's foggy and I can't see clearly.

I put my tea aside and went to see what it was.

It's Dani !

God, I've never seen Dani in such terror, neither this tired !

He is leaning against the tree with his eyes closed. He is looking so tired like, he have been running for days without any break.

Shall I wake him up or let him rest ?

I think I should leave him alone with his rest.

I tuned to leave and accidentally stepped on a dried leaf.

" Rick ?

Where are you going ? "

I woke him up !

He is not only looking tired, he is even sounding tired !

" Nothing !

I was having my tea and I just came to see who it was.

I am sorry, I woke you up. I didn't meant to !

I saw you were asleep so, I thought I should leave you alone to have some rest for a while. "

I said.

" Oh, thank you so much for thinking about me for a change ! "

Daniel said sarcastically while rubbing his eyes.

" Ohh...

Someone is being sarcastic ! "

I teased.

" Don't even get me started !

Katherine have driven me nuts completely.

I am shocked how am I able to think straight and talk to you without sounding like some idiot ! "

Daniel said irritated.

Poor Dani.

" This bad ? "

I asked.

" Don't ask !

God, we didn't even had our morning tea together I a while !

How I miss spending time with you ! "

He put his hand on my shoulder and said yawning.

I am happy that I am not the only one missing my friend !

" You are very lucky Rick !

You aren't gonna mark a wolf who got used to being a human.

She doesn't let me breath peacefully even for a while !

I don't know what to do. "

Daniel said helplessly.

" She have become very vulnerable.

She isn't used to all these things and that had her being this mean.

She'll be fine once the litter is born ! "

I tried to give him courage to cope up with her.

" I am dying to see that day Rick !

I am not being an ass, but I am seriously eager to get the pups more because, I want my loving and soft Kath back than for I want to become a father finally ! "

Daniel said feeling guilty.

" Huh, I can understand... "

Katharine growled in her chamber while calling for him.

" Oh, not again ! "

Daniel said almost crying !

I am feeling bad for wanting to laugh at his reaction.

" Go, she needs you. "

I said trying very hard not to let out my laugh or even smile.

" No, she doesn't !

She just wants me to be around her for nothing special !

She have become someone else man.

She just doesn't let me die nor does she lets me live !

When will she give birth to the litter ? "

Daniel said getting impatient fade up of being torched this way by his mate.

" Soon, Dani !

Cathsia said that the litter should be ready within a week. "

I said seriously.

I really feel bad for my friend's situation.

" Like, all of them ? "

Dani asked.

" Most likely !

Because almost everyone conceived on the same week.

The gestation period differs for few days in females.

So, with the difference of few days, all the pups would join us soon ! "

I told him what Cathsia told me.

" And I am sure, she would be the last one to give birth to her litter... "

Daniel said in frustration and before he could say anything anymore, Katharine growled again and this time more fiercely.

" Guess your mistress needs you right away ! "

I said guessing her mood from her angry growl.

" Yeah, I don't want to get my throat ripped off just yet.

I'll see you around. "

Daniel said and ran towards her chamber.

Poor Dani, God help him contain himself and keep his sanity intact till his puppies join us !

Something rustled behind me suddenly...

" Ohh !

Old woman, you scared me ! "

Cathsia came out of the dense outgrowth behind me.

" You fear no one, Alpha ! "

Cathsia said calmly.

" Yeah, but ancient things like you, definitely do sometimes ! "

I said making the mood lighter.

" Huh, you have a sense of humour for your evil and dangerous look, Alpha. "

Cathsia said with a smile.

No one have ever seen her smile !

She actually don't leave her chamber ever. I don't know what's in her chamber that she doesn't want to leave it even for a while.

" I guess because I was a human once. "

I replied.

" May be. "

Cathsia said.

" What are you doing this early and out here ?

I mean you don't leave your chamber usually. "

I asked.

" Yeah, it's been a while I went on a run.

I haven't even turned in about a century now.

My bones and muscles are feeling quite frozen so, I thought I should get out. "

Cathsia told me.

" Just how ancient are you ? "

I finally asked her the question bothering me from almost when I joined the pack !

" I don't quite remember now.

But, I have seen more than a thousand of pups grow up and become a successful Alpha. "

Cathsia said casually.

" So, when are you gonna die ? "

I said trying to know how much time she have left with us.

" I still have to see thousands of pups grow up and become the Alpha !

Why do you ask ?

You don't want me with you anymore, Alpha ?

I can leave if you wa... "

Cathsia said getting me wrong !

Whom am I kidding, she didn't got it wrong I said the words clearly !

" Shut up, old woman !

I didn't said anything like that.

I am just asking, how long would you survive ?

I've never seen anyone live this long so, I am just curious ! "

I told her the real reason.

" Oh, is that so ?

Wanna join me for the run ? "

Cathsia asked.

Is she out of her mind ?

She wants to run with me ? She will be exhausted in no time.

" Huh, are you serious ?

I thought you were kidding about going for a run.

I really don't want to offend you old lady, go on yourself ! "

I said.

" Chickening out already, Alpha ?

I don't blame you. I will easily overspeed you and win the race if you want to participate ! "

Cathsia said with a cold smile.

" You need help, old woman.

I am young and faster than the fastest wolf and you want to compete with me ?

I hope wolves don't get heart attack or asthma attack, it would become impossible to explain the situation to the doctor ! "

I said laughing at her brave thoughts.

" I can understand Alpha, you are scared to loose to an old woman like me !

No problem, I'll go alone. "

Cathsia said with a smirk.

" Are you challanging me, old lady ? "

I asked offended.

" I guess yes !

Well, if you are too scared, you can deny it.

And don't worry, I won't tell anyone you chickened out at the thought of loosingto me ! "

Cathsia said mocking me !

" Don't you provoke me, Cathsia ! "

I said getting more offended.

" No I am not !

I am just telling you that I will keep my mouth shut. "

Cathsia said teasing me.

" Let's go then !

I'll show you, what happens when you provoke your Alpha ! "

I said accepting her challenge.

" Let's see then !

Catch me if you can before, I reach the summit of our tallest mountain. "

Cathsia said telling me the end point of the race.

" Aren't you overestimating a bit yourself old woman ? "

I asked amused at her overconfidence !

" No, I am choosing the easy goal so that, you could at least reach me ! "

Cathsia said with a teasing smirk !

She is underestimating me and overestimating herself way too much !

We turned into our wolf form and started running.

Ha !

I left her behind me and...

What ?

Oh, she is running man !

And running like some young and strong wolf.

I've never seen any wolf running this fast !

She took few moments to catch the speed but now, she is out of my sight.

I must speed up and catch her before she reaches the summit !

Where the hell is she ?

We've been running for quite while now and I am getting tired.

And god, the mountain is still far away and I have to climb the mountain and reach the summit !

And she have choosen the farthest mountain.

It'll take me an hour or so to reach there only; then, climbing it's summit is gonna take me the whole day !

How is it possible that she is still running and that too way too fast than me ?

I underestimated her !

I didn't know she is this fast and strong till date !

I thought she is the ancient and the oldest member of the pack so, she might be weak and slow but, I guess I am wrong.

I can't run anymore !

Shall I stop here...

No I can't !

Wheather or not I catch her, I must at least reach there !

God, the sun is high up in the sky now and we started running early in the morning !

And I just reached the base of the mountain.

There she is !

She is climbing towards the summit so easy, like she is walking on the ground !

I...

I can't run any further.

I am stopping here.

I'll wait for her to climb down.

She looked back at me and howled !

She is fucking teasing me !

But I can't do anything about it.

She did win over me as she said !

I better wait here for her and catch my breath and get some rest.

She is climbing with a steady speed. She didn't slowed down even after watching me resting here peacefully !

Wow, she reached the summit !

She is howling happily at her victory and I can't help but smile for her.

For the old woman she is, she is very strong and fast and determined.

She hunted down a deer and enjoyed her lunch.

I guess, I've seen her leaving her chamber and get out of the pack for the first time from the day I am here.

We hunt for her everytime but, the happiness of hunting her own prey brought a satisfaction on her face.

I got a deer as well for my lunch.

I didn't liked to kill the animals earlier, but the human food didn't satisfied my appetite and Cathsia was the one who convinced me to go for the animals as, I became one of them and only their food will satisfy my appetite !

And from that day, deers are my favourite !

But I must keep them in balance of nature, so I hunt rabbits and other small animals as well.

Finally she is climbing down, happy and satisfied and proud of herself for what she did !

She is looking like a queen as she is approaching me.

She is so graceful in her walk and overall presence, it's almost impossible to take my eyes off her !

She stood beside me and howled again for her victory over me.

I bowed down to her, showing my respect and accepting my defeat to her.

She came close to me and licked my head affectionately.

We decided to sit there for a while, as I still couldn't run back to the pack.

I am still unable to take my eyes off her...

' Stop looking at me like that, you've no chance with me ! '

Cathsia thought.

She too can crack jokes, huh !

We laughed at her words.

When we are in our original form we can listen to eachothers thoughts. It's like a phone call only two people who have the line can talk !

' You are amazing, old woman ! '

I praised her genuinely.

' I know !

Don't worry, I won't tell anyone that you lost to me. '

Cathsia said seriously.

' It's ok, you can tell !

You defeated me badly and crushed my ego to ground ! '

I laughed ! I was way to confident that I will win but she proved me wrong.

' No, the respect of Alpha should be kept intact, no matter what ! '

Cathsia said the truth.

' You really are amazing !

Can I ask you something ? '

I asked.

' Anything. '

Cathsia replied.

' What are you ? '

I asked.

' What do you mean ? '

Cathsia asked confused.

' I mean what I said.

What are you ?

No one is able to do what you did . '

I said.

' What ?

Cathsia said laughing.

' You know what I mean ! '

I said seriously.

' I am one of the original wolves ! '

Cathsia said.

' What does that means ?

All in the pack except me are original wolves !

So, how are you different than them ? '

I asked her confused.

' You are mistaken Alpha !

All the wolves are born wolves !

Only I am here who is an Original wolf !

It means, we were created and you all are born from us ! '

Cathsia said.

' What do you mean ?

Are we all your pups ?

Is that what is means ? '

I asked still confused.

' Not exactly, but yes !

Well, you can call yourselves our descents; not you ofcourse !

You are turned !

The others, they are our descents. '

Cathsia said.

' Then who created you ?

And why weren't you born like the others ? '

I asked.

' A witch created us. '

Cathsia said looking at a distance.

' Why ?

Who was she ? '

I asked eagerly.

' My mother was the witch who created us !

Her name was Synthiya.

A witch named Silas loved her and wanted to get married to her.

But she was already married to my father and loved him more than herself !

She denied to marry him.

He couldn't take the rejection and killed her whole family !

He cursed her to live her life alone till the end of the time and he committed suicide !

A curse of a witch never goes waste !'

Cathsia said pain in her voice.

' You said he killed her whole family, then aren't you her family ? '

I asked.

' Yes I am.

But I was with my friends when he did that and so, he couldn't kill me.

When I returned home, my mother was surrounded with the corps of my siblings and was crying holding my father's dead body.

When she saw me, she told me everything and was very sad that she had to live her life alone and she couldn't do anything about it !

I asked her if she could curse me the same way so, that we would be together till the end of the time !

But she said, a mother can never curse her own child.

She then meet many of her witch friends and then they decided to try using the spell of creating an immortal on someone.

But none of her friends were ready to try it on them, so I volunteered and they casted the spell on me.

Though I became immortal, but it turned me into a wolf !

My mother didn't wanted an animal instead of her daughter, so she casted a shifter spell on me.

With that spell, I was able to turn in a wolf and in a human whenever I wanted !

Then the others casted the same spell on their children and we got a few original immortal wolves, from whom the other wolves were born and clans were formed ! '

Cathsia told me the story of our origin !

But she was sad.

' Where is your mother now ? '

I asked curiously.

' I killed her ! '

Cathsia said calmly.

' What ?

Why ? '

I was shocked at her statement.

' She wanted me to !

She had lived her life for centuries and she never found any man who would love her selflessly.

She got tired of being alone without true love and asked me to set her free from her misery ! '

Cathsia said flinching a bit at the memory of killing her own mother !

' But you said Silas cursed her to live life till the end of the time !

Then how could you kill her ? '

I asked not understanding how could that happen ?

' He said she won't die...

He didn't said she can't be killed !

Time was never gonna kill her, but someone else could ! '

Cathsia said without looking at me.

' But...

The curse... '

She said a curse of a witch never goes waste !

' Yes !

I am still paying for tampering with his curse ! '

Cathsia said with immense pain in her voice.

' What ? How ? '

I asked.

' Though he didn't cursed me, but I tried to take his curse away from my mother, so it hampered with my life !

My mate can't survive a day afte mating with me !

I haven't got a single male who survived a day after mating.

That's why I am living my life all alone for several centuries now ! '

Cathsia said and sighed heavily with the pain of loneliness clear on her face.

' Oh.

I am so sorry !

Then why don't you ask someone to... '

I thought if her mother can be saved from his curse, she can be too !

' Kill me and suffer for doing that ? "

She completed my line !

' No !

Me suffering alone is more than enough.

I don't want anyone to face what I've been through.

It is very sad and frustrating to be alone ! '

She said.

Well, I can help her if she will let me !

Anyhow I won't get my mate ever now, I can set her free from her misery and end my life as well and the curse of the witch will end !

' Don't you even think about it ! '

She said as if reading my mind !

' Huh ? '

I was shocked at her words.

' You have got your life.

You are yet to find your mate; and you will soon, I swear !

Be happy with her, don't waste your life on me ! '

She said rubbing her head against me.

' I don't get out of my chamber for the same reason.

I don't want anyone to imprint on me, mark me, mate me and then, die the very next day !

I've had enough of dead mates !

I want no more innocents to die. '

Cathsia said feeling guilty for the males who died because of her curse.

' You are great, you know that ? '

I said praising her.

She is so selfless !

I don't want to think bad about the dead, but her mother was very selfish woman !

First she didn't wanted to be alone for infinite time so, she made her immortal and then, told her to kill her because she was lonely and even passed her curse to her innocent daughter !

' Yeah, I know ! '

Cathsia said proud of herself and then laughed. But I didn't ! I was serious.

' No one ever told me this !

Even Alpha Stanley didn't said anything about it.

Even he didn't know why don't you leave your chamber ? '

I said surprised.

' To tell you something, first the man should know anything ! '

Cathsia said.

' He didn't know ? '

I asked shocked.

' Nobody knows about it. '

Cathsia said casually.

' Then why did you told me ? '

I asked surprised.

' I don't know.

Nobody ever asked me anything about myself, so I never told them. '

Cathsia said casually, like it was nothing.

' You had isolated yourself from everyone, how would anyone ask you anything ? '

I said.

' Did I came to you ?

Did I asked you to talk to me ?

Did I provoked you to ask anything about me ?

You did it on your own, because you wanted to know !

You talked to me on your own.

Nobody tried to; ever. '

Cathsia said now with a edge of being hurt in her voice.

' Nobody ever ? '

I asked feeling sorry for her.

' Nobody ever ! '

Cathsia said.

How bad is this !

She is the oldest member of our pack and nobody ever wanted to know about her ?

' I am so sorry. '

I said genuinely.

' Why are you apologising my child ?

You did talked to me. '

Cathsia said licking my face.

Kissing me gently like a mother would to her child.

I remembered my mother and got emotional.

It was a very heart warming moment I almost cried.

The emotional moment, I don't like when they last long, so I changed the subject.

' So, what is the secret of you knowing everything about everything ?

Is it you being this ancient or you did studied that much ? '

I asked.

' Well, when you have the time of all the world, you need to do something to pass it.

So, I did studied many things and yes, me being this ancient is also the secret of me knowing everything about everything ! '

Cathsia said and we laughed at that and then left for the pack.
