As I walked over to the area where they were I could tell that this group was going to be a group of misfits and trouble to work with.
"Can you believe how crazy that human acted when he saw us slay the python snake". A male human in the group wore a magic robe.
" I know the truth of it is that he was shitting his pants because of what he had seen us do to that beast". A short male human who wore an outfit that told me he was a simple blacksmith of some kind.
Before I could fully examine things about each of them the person from The adventurer's guild made her way to their table and grabbed me by the wrist as she made her way towards the table.
"This is Alicia. She is a moon elf rouge, and she is looking for a party of adventurers to do missions with that mostly works at night.
I just thought that I would do my duty, and give her a proper introduction to you guys". She then left me with the group of adventurers after giving them an introduction to me.
" So she has introduced me to all of you; I was wondering If you could introduce yourselves".
As soon as I spoke up, the only female in the group jumped up and gladly introduced herself.
" My name is Xenith, and as you can tell I am a warrior. I am also a member of the Wood elf race".
When she came over to me, I noticed that she had heavy armor that was mostly made of steel.
The third member of the team got very angry at me as I asked him about this. He seemed to have a stare that was screaming mistrust as if he did not know enough about me to trust me with such information.
"I serve as the group's fire wizard. Also, before you ask me, I will not give you my name until I believe you have earned enough of our trust".
"Oh come on; do not be that difficult towards her.
His name is Devin". Xenith said to me.
"I am Alex the party's leader and mage".
" As the final member of this team, I serve as the blacksmith and cook, And my name is Victor.
As soon as the entire party had introduced themselves, I took a spare seat that was in the room and sat down so that we could discuss what we were going to be doing tonight.
" Now we are going to be going to the dungeon, and we will be going to the hardcore section since that will lead to a larger reward". Alex said to the group as I saw him put a piece of paper on the table that had the theme of the logo that was preserved for hard-core dungeons only.
"I am definitely up for this because I want to get some very high-value materials from the market," Victor stated.
"I am always up for a greater challenge". Xenith said.
After that, everyone else had agreed to take on this mission.
The leader of the group walked over to the front desk of the Adventures guild and signed some paperwork before heading back to our table.
" Alright, that has been taken care of. You are now an official member of our party.
Since that has been taken care of we can now make our way to the dungeon island".
As soon as he spoke, the entire party left the adventurer's guild and made their way towards the docks without stopping anywhere along the way.
" I am going to get us a boat for travel. While I do that can you get us some food reserves". Alex said to me as everyone started to walk away from me, and closer to the edge of the docks.
" Sure no big deal. I will find us some kind of preservative food to be able to use on this current mission". I told them so that they knew that I agreed with what they had asked me to do.
I truthfully didn't want to be someone's errand girl, but if I wanted to make this team thing work, I would need to earn their trust.
The docks seemed to be rather quiet with very unlimited amount of life around it; this probably was because it was nighttime.
As I made my way to the area of the docks where the shops were located, I noticed that there was an elf hiding behind a camouflage spell of some kind in an alley to the left of me.
I walked over to the alley and started to speak in a quiet tone.
" I can tell that you are here despite your camouflage spell. What is it that you are wanting from me?"
The spell was deactivated, and I noticed that there was a half-elf in magically enhanced armor that had a dragon symbol on the center of the chest area.
" I want to warn you about the people you are starting to work with.
You cannot trust them. No matter how nice they seem at first glance; that is not their true nature.
They have a reputation for defeating and saying monsters with powerful people come up and then after that killing their new party members to take their gear and valuables".
I backed away because I did not know if I wanted to trust what the half-elf had said.
" I do not want to believe you, but through my journeys, I have come to know that this world is full of nothing but scum.
So despite my urge not to trust you, I will remember what It is that you said to me while I was on this mission with them".
" That is all I am asking of you. I will not have another one of my elf kin die due to their urges to steal everything of value from the new elves that come into town".
After he spoke, I saw that he reactivated his camouflage spell.
As I walked back to the main street I was able to sense where he went, but no one else was able to detect him as he walked down the street.
I then made my way to the market and bought a few stacks of dried and salted meat.
As I was making my way back to the lower area of the docks Xenith rushed over to me.
" Come on Alicia, we need to get going because we found out that we are not the only party of adventurers that are going to this island to clear the high-risk dungeon."
I followed her to the vessel that was chosen by our leader, and I noticed that the ship was quite messy, and it even had bugs crawling on its main deck.
"So, is this the ship that you have selected for our journey?!" I asked them with a little bit of frustration behind my voice because if they had chosen to do this willingly, that means that this party leader is most likely a cheap scape.
"This is what I chose because we are behind schedule. All of the other ships that go to the dungeon island from here are already taken.
In the end, it was either take the ship or we could not get to the dungeon island before morning". The party leader said in response to my remark.
" I am sorry, but I had to ask because the ship just seemed badly put together.
After that, everyone got on and sailed off toward the dungeon island.
I chose not to interact with anyone on this journey because I was constantly thinking of what the half-elf said to me about how I could not trust these people.
Would the prediction that I was given by the elf come true, or did I end up making it through my first interaction with my future teammates?
