The Reaper of the Stars

In the days before skyscrapers, before the continents shifted into their current place, before even written word, it is said that the Sun and the Moon would shine on the Earth in tandem. The warm Sun loved the Moon and so gave parts of its light to the cold Moon which proudly shone the reflected light granted to her by her lover. The warm touch of Sunlight kept the humans on Earth alive, their crops thriving and their skin warm and brown. The Sun kept the humans alive, and She shone down on them with a smile, proud to be theirs.... And so the Moon was banished into the Night, where she shone her milky light onto an empty sleeping world below. The lovers were separated, but to keep them apart was impossible. And thus the deities were born. —————— The Deities, the physical manifestation of the Sun and the Moon, forever cursed to reincarnate and find each other anew each time. On Lucian's 16th birthday, he is awakened to his power as the Moon. Surrounded by an odd group of allies, he sets out on a search to find his Sun and save her from whatever fate may await them both at the hands of their many enemies. —————— DISCLAIMER: Not my art in the cover. Oz’s Flashback

~This time our story opens on a battle field. There is a fire near the scene, the smoke and embers wafting onto the figures we are focused on. A woman, her hair is reflecting the flames in a silver tint. In her arms is another, curls matted with blood. The woman being held was gripping the arm of the woman with silver hair, digging her nails into the skin.~

"Aelia... Aelia!"

The woman smiled sadly and coughed, blood coming up. She looked up at her lover, freeing up her arm to tangle her fingers in the silver hair.

"Don't yell Aysel love. My head hurts like a son of a bitch."

~Aysel hung her head over the body of her lover. Aelia was losing blood, and fast. She was fading before Aysel's eyes.~

"I don't have long love." Aelia made eye contact with Aysel. Tears were running down Aysel's face. "Don't cry love. It's not the time for that yet." She caressed Aysel's face, wiping off the tears.

"I'm gonna die soon. I don't blame you Aysel. Just promise me. Promise nobody other than us has to suffer like this. Promise we will snuff out all of the darkness in this world. Can you promise?"

Aysel nodded, the tears flicking off her face and reflecting the flames around them almost as well as her silver hair.

~The flames around the couple danced. The screams of people echoed throughout the battlefield, but the women paid no heed to the death around them.~

"Good." Aelia looked satisfied as she closed her eyes. "In the next life my love."

With those words, Aelia died in the arms of the now sobbing Aysel.
