Chapter Sixteen: The Slip

Gabriel makes his way through the city and eventually finds a bar where he walks inside and sits down in one of the stools by the bar and orders himself a drink. He had quite a few drinks at Cassie's. But he needed one where he could just get away from everything and everyone. Luckily, for the most part, the bar was was empty. The drink was brought to him in a small glass which Gabriel stared down at. " Humans are weird" Gabriel said to himself in disappointment as he stared at the small glass.

" Tell me your troubles" The bartender smiles as he wipes down the bar with a small rag. " I don't want to talk about it " Gabriel Sighs as he picks up the glass and downs it quickly. " Well, more power to ya. But I'm a pretty good listener" the bartender smiles as he takes the glass from Gabriel and gets him another one refilled.

" Women are complicated " Gabriel Growls as he downs the new drink. " Yeah, I hear ya man. One minute they love you. And the next minute, they leave you on read" the bartender smiles.

" They leave you on what? " Gabriel asked, being genuinely confused. " Sorry" the bartender chuckles awkwardly. " Well, if there is one thing I've learned. Women never know what they want" the bartender beams as he gets Gabriel another drink. " Yeah. So I've noticed" Gabriel Sighs as he is handed the new drink and downs it immediately much to the Bartenders dismay " I can see this is gonna be one of those nights" he smiles as he leans down beneath the bar and comes returns back with 5 bottles. " At least I won't have to keep you getting you drinks now"

Gabriel pulls off the top of one of the bottles and began chugging the bottle down. " Jeez man..it must be really bad" the bartender says in a concerned tone. " My fucking mate is in love with someone else. And then there is some weird girl who is in heat and wants me to mate with her and I don't want to because I already have a mate even if she doesn't want me " Gabriel explains as he finishes the bottle and grabs another bottle.

" Hmm.. well it's like my Grandma use to say. If you are with someone and then someone else comes along who can offer you more and make you happier then go with the second option. Because there was obviously something you weren't getting from the first person otherwise you wouldn't be looking at the other person " the bartender leans on the bar, continuing to smile as Gabriel chugs down the second bottle.

" But I don't want her. I just want Kara to love me. She is the love of my life " Gabriel's voice began to slur a little. " Well then you have to work on things with her" the bartender suggested.

" Yeah..I guess" Gabriel answered as the bar tender looked to the door and saw someone standing at it. And Gabriel caught a whiff of the familiar scent. " Oh no.."

" Hey" Cassie smiled as she walked over to the bar and sat down beside Gabriel.

" I'm sorry about earlier. I didn't mean to be forward like that. I'm just..you know " Cassie chuckled, rolling her eyes as she takes one of the bottles from Gabriel and begins drinking.

" Why. Why can't you just leave me alone.." Gabriel Sighs as he stares down at his bottle.

" Because I wanted to apologize for the way I acted. I know I should have kept the opinions to myself. It doesn't matter who you choose..I just want you to be happy. And I don't want you getting hurt " Cassie adds as she sips from the bottle. " I will be fine. I don't need you looking out for me. I can handle this on my own" Gabriel stood up and walked a few seats down away from Cassie before sitting down again.

" Alright. You are mad. But look, I've apologized. What can I do from my side to make things right? " Cassie looks to Gabriel who refused to even look at her. He had no intention of seeing her. Not after what she did. She made him so angry for crossing his boundaries like that and yet...she was still so inviting. Her current state was almost irresistible to him. He was doing everything in his power to control himself when the bar door burst open. " You.." Kara growls as she walks up to Cassie who turned just in time to avoid a fireball being launched at her.

"You see him - " Kara points to Gabriel. She noticed him when she walked in but but was more so focused on Cassie.

Cassie looks to Gabriel and smiles and then back to Kara. " Yes. Yes I do " Cassie crosses her arms.

" He is mine. Whether you like it or not. And we can fight all you want but that doesn't change shit. He is always going to be mine. And despite what people seem to think, I fucking love him. I love him and all his stupid fucking issues. He is amazing to me. He is perfect. And I'm not letting him go without a fight" Kara shouts at Cassie though Gabriel doesn't turn to Kara. He doesn't even seem to care that she was is the bar.

" And whatever the truth is that you keep saying will come out. Just fucking say it. Please God enlighten us to what the truth is. If you are so confident in it, then spare our fucking time " Kara wanted to hurt Cassie more than anything in this moment but she also wanted to hear what Cassie had to say before she did anything to her. She wanted this entire thing done and over with.

" Okay. Fine. I'll say it. I don't like you. I think you are immature little girl who Gabriel should have never bothered with. Not only did he go to earth with you. Not only did he bring you back. He offered you his love...and you don't even know what to do with it. If you did, the mating process would have worked. But you know what? It didn't work. It didn't work and now we are in a really fucked situation. Because guess what? He already fucked you. Which means you've stained him. Which means he trusted you to love him. That you wanted to be his mate. So that he would never have to look back. But he can't take on another mate once you decide you are bored. Now normally. I would care. But ya know what? Gabriel is a good person. Sure, he is dumb at times but he is a good person. And you took something away from him that he can't get back now. But that is beside the fact that you attacked our fucking Kingdom and burned half of it done. Only to then have your Vampires come in and kill off our people. Leaving me and Gabriel some of the last Lycans left. So yeah. I do have a fucking say so on this matter" Cassie barks as Kara looks on.

" Well for one, I didn't force Gabriel to mate with me. He wanted to and I wanted to and so we did. That was a decision we both made. He didn't have to if he didn't want to. Secondly, I know I attacked the Kingdom and I felt bad about it. But at the time, I thought he sent your people to kill my mother. And I lost my Gwen because of that. And lastly, I may be half Vampire but they are not my people. Get that straight " Kara growls. Standing her ground and not backing down from Cassie. A silence fell over the bar, and only Gabriel had anything to say.

" Your..Gwen? " he asked.
