When Jacob walked into the living room one afternoon and saw an antique clock sitting on the mantel, he smiled. Luka had told him about a clock that had belonged to his family for generations, and Jacob decided this had to be it. He hoped that meant Luka was settling in just fine.
Jacob knew it was fast and he had never been one to rush things, but he honestly felt it in his soul that this was meant to be.
Luka’s leg was healing fairly quickly, but was still painful and they realized they may have to look at getting outside help to complete the various jobs still on the list for passing inspection.
Four days after the shooting, once the boys had finished breakfast and went to work on their studies, Luka and Jacob lingered at the kitchen table. Garrett would arrive at any moment and they wanted to cherish the few minutes they had to themselves.
