Chapter 83

As expected, there were guards right outside the door. We quickly took them down before they even reacted. Just to be sure no one would chase us, we tied them together using the rope that bound us earlier.

There was one more guard we didn't notice. He was about to hit us, when someone came up from behind and punched him. He fell unconscious.

Gene and I stared in surprise.

"Fancy meeting you here, Gene and Beatrice."

It was Nathaniel.

"Nathaniel!? Why are you here?"

"I've been keeping this place under surveillance since that day you decided to break in with me. I've been alerted that you two were held hostage, so I came to break you out myself."

I smiled awkwardly. "Uhh...thanks. Sorry for crashing your wedding."
