Chapter 48

When we arrived in the boarding house Aqua Chrysalis, we saw Mr. Shark and Miss Butterfly in the lobby. They looked mostly uninjured but exhausted.

"Mr. Shark! Miss Butterfly! Are you two alright?" I asked as we approached them.

"Who were those people, woof?" Prof. Dog asked.

Mr. Shark sighed. "They escaped before we managed to find out their identity."

"They didn't look like they were members of the group Auriel works for," added Miss Butterfly.

Gene rummaged his pocket and pulled out the ID he picked up from the men who attacked us. "We bumped into a few people on the way out. One of them was carrying an ID."

"My! How careless of them, woof."

"Great job, Gene. Thanks." Mr. Shark received the ID from Gene and examined it closely.

"Materia?" Miss Butterfly looked over his shoulder.

"Have you heard of the company, Mr. Shark?" I asked.

"It sounds familiar, but I can't remember where I heard the name." Mr. Shark thought hard.

"It sounds like a research facility," I commented.
