Chapter 40

"Beatrice! What happened?" Momo was in panic after she saw my leg. "You took a while to get back. I was getting worried."

"I fell and some nice people helped me." I smiled awkwardly. "They bandaged my leg."

I honestly felt bad lying to Momo, but I had to keep my word.

Nathaniel chuckled. "Oh Miss Beatrice, how clumsy of you! But it's also a cute trait to have."

Is that supposed to be a complement?

"No one asked your opinion, Nathaniel!" Momo hissed.

"We'd better get her home. It's getting late," said Cyrus as he checked his watch.

He was right. It was almost midnight.

"I hate that it's exam week." Momo sighed.

"Did you even study?" Her brother asked.

"Of course I did.... not."

"Looks like you won't be getting any sleep tonight."

Momo and Cyrus dropped me off at Aqua Chrysalis. I slowly made my way up the stairs. It was painful having to limp, but I managed to reach the top.
