Chapter 12

I stared hard at my closet, like we were having an intense staring contest. I didn't know what to wear for the party. I rarely ever attended parties. How fancy should a dress be? I had no idea.

Maybe I should buy a new dress?

I took a train to the city's most stylish district to go shopping. All I ever cared about spending on were videogames and food, so I was clueless about what was in style.

Goodbye videogame funds...!! I mourned internally as I clutched the wad of cash that was about to disappear for fashion's sake.

"Ah. Gene's friend."

It was Ms. Cat.

Beside her was a petite girl with short black hair. She didn't look very friendly, but her sailor Lolita outfit made her appear cute and doll-like.

"Shopping for clothes?" Ms. Cat asked.

"Yeah. I'm buying a dress for a party," I replied.

"Would you like to shop together?"

Shopping with female friends...!! I was happy inside. I never tried shopping with girls before.
