Chapter 69

He thought of Malia and the twins as he listened to the man's warning. His little family was his weakness, but also his strength. He would die before he let anyone come an inch close to hurting them.

"Did you get anything else aside from this?" Alex asked as he held the flash disc in his hand.

"Not much because the man that we had bugged didn't stay long enough for him to access every room in the lab."

One other piece of information that was of much help was the one about them breaking the wolf out at any cost since the government was catching on to them already.

Seems like the government was on their tail and Alex would be damned if he let them end there. He was going to lead the government straight to their door.

If his peaceful days were ending soon, then, he might as well give his enemy sleepless nights too. That man touched the tail of a sleeping lion by making those threats.

The ball was now in Alex's court since he has the information that the bastard didn't know he had.

Alex was thankful that that person didn't know Malia's existence, and he wanted it to remain that way.

One thing Alex was sure of though, the strange man would begin to snoop around in search of his weakness, he would be damned if he gave him one.

"How are the arrangements for tomorrow's break-in?" asked Alex

"We are ready, Alpha" responded Cross.

Alex trusted them to know what was at stake if they failed in this mission. "Leave no trail behind" Warned Alex. Cross nodded curtly in response.

Cross knew how the Alpha worked, and failure wasn't one thing he liked.

"Before you go, Cross, I know I said that you shouldn't leave a trail, but you know where to leave it."

It was better for them to strike before the other party got the upper hand. Control the game, so the opponent wouldn't have an escape plan.

Cross nodded and left the office. Alex then called in Arnold who came in holding the files containing the details that were discussed with chairman Almond.

Arnold singled out one particular file and placed in front of Alex "These are for the lawyer" He said as he pushed it towards Alex after opening it.

"Thank you, Arnold," said Alex as he picked up the file

He went through it and nodded then placed it back down "Have you contacted the law firm?

"Yes, Sir. The head lawyer will be calling you any time now because I held him back a little due to your meeting with Cross"

"Ok, Arnold. You should head home soon. I will go through this and leave it on my table. Tomorrow, you will take it to the law firm"

Arnold agreed with his boss then bowed and turned to leave the office. He was happy that he gets to leave the office on time.

"Alex received a call from the law firm as soon as Arnold's hand left his room. He was impressed with their professionalism despite it being late. At least they knew who gave them the heaviest cheque at the end of the month

He had promised Martha a date and leaving work as early as 6:00 pm was a good one for the both of them.

Arnold didn't really have a dating life, and Martha is the only lady he had been around repetitively and also felt an attraction towards.

He was now twenty-eight years old and had never dated before. He was human and needed to find a partner to settle his mother who wouldn't let him go.

"Would you like to go to dinner with me?" Arnold asked while standing before Marthas's table.

The question caught her off guard, but it also made her blush. She was attracted to Arnold but held back since he was her boss, and she didn't know what it would do to her job if he got a whiff of how she felt.

"Are you asking me out on a date, Mr. Arnold?" she asked back with a shy smile

"It is Arnold for today, and yes, I am asking you out on a date. So, what do you say?" responded Arnold"

"I say, yes. I would love to go on a date with you" said Martha happily.

Martha was twenty-six years old too, and just like Arnold, she too had put her work before any pleasures with the hope to climb the career ladder before thinking of romance.

She would have attained her goal since she is hard working and diligent, it's just that her immediate boss is really attractive and she couldn't stop herself from falling for him

When Alex got home, he found Amber in his kitchen having a cup of coffee. She welcomes him saying that she was soon leaving "Hope it's alright with you that I used your kitchen and coffee machine?"

"It's alright, it's the least I could do after taking care of the Luna. Thank you for that." Alex was grateful to Amber for spending the whole day with Malia.

"I have cleaned and changed her into another set of nightwear. All you have to do is adjust the room temperature later on"

Alex thanked her once again and left the kitchen. Amber finished her coffee, cleaned her cup, and left for the living room to get her bag.

"Ms. Amber, are you returning home?" asked Dawson, who had returned from doing some shopping. He was also grateful to Amber for staying till he returned.

"It's ok Dawson, Malia is my best friend. It's the list I could do for her." She spoke for a few more minutes with Dawson, then picked up her bag and headed for the elevator.

Dawson headed to the kitchen to unpack the grocery and foodstuff that he had bought from the market. It was already coming to 7:00 pm and he was yet to start dinner.

He hastened with the whole unpacking so that he could start with dinner. The Alpha loved stake, and that is what he was going to make. Along with it, he would make some spaghetti, potatoes, and beef gravy.

The Alpha loved his meals and went all in when the appetite arose. It was always safe to cook much in case his appetite was high on a given day, but if it is down, the food could be kept.
