The Novel's Heroine

I did my best to ignore Catherine's incomprehensible antics, for the life of me I don't understand why she is doing this. I tried to locate the other two main cast members but when I would move my head to see where they were my vision would be just blocked by Catherine.

"Who are you looking for Alex?" She looked at me with a confused look.

"The rival and the heroine, now can you stay still for a minute or two" I answered honestly, I mean it's not like she's gonna believe me.

"Rival? Heroine? Alex, is your super-talented head okay?" She said in her trademark joking and mocking tone.

"Of course, it's okay I mean why wouldn't it be? I am the Protagonist."

"Mr. Protagonist are you perhaps delusional?" Catherine kept up her joking and mocking tone.

"In my dictionary delusion is just another word for belief." I was about to add to that sentence but our homeroom teacher Marianne entered the auditorium-like classroom.

"As you all know my name is Marianne Rain but you all already knew that. I will be your Homeroom Teacher and I will also teach you Abilities in Theory, Practice, and Innovation. That class is one of the five mandatory classes, the other four being Monster and Dungeon Theory, Combat in Theory and Practice, Mana in Theory and Practice, and lastly... PE"

'What do you mean PE, just be honest and say torture hour.'

"Each day from Monday to Friday will only have one mandatory class, after each mandatory class of the day you will have a minimum of two classes of your choosing and a maximum of four, oh and I should mention each class lasts two hours."

"Homeroom will only be held on the last Saturday of each month or it will take the place of one of the optional classes if need be. Today we will be evaluating everyone's stats along with their hidden stats, Of course, we don't have a way of evaluating someone's luck but we do have ways of evaluating three of them, those three being, stamina, persistence, and speed."

'That reminds me System, can I see my hidden stats with the help of the ever-helpful System?'

[I can show them to Master, but Master first has to learn roughly what values those stats hold himself for me to show them]

All of Class One left the classroom and headed to the Arena as per Marianne's instructions.

When we arrived there in the center of the Arena stood a humanoid golem and a demon dressed in the teacher uniform.

"This is teacher Lou Laab, he controls that golem there, going all out against that special golem will give him information about your stats." Marianne introduced the friendly demon.

"Hi, guys" Lou said as he waved at Class One.

"Let's Begin"

The students one after another fought against the golem. Soon enough it was my turn, we were allowed to use our primary weapons but no artifacts. I fought the Golem to the best of my capabilities, I made use of my Instinct talent to strike with my sword as I am not yet trained in swordsmanship so I placed all my trust in my Instinct talent and my Swordsmanship talent.

When my Instinct told me to attack, I attacked. When it told me to block, I blocked. When it told me to dodge, I dodged.

Marianne who saw this was once again reminded of the fear she felt on the day she met me. Why? Well, she just witnessed a student who hasn't touched a sword his whole life create a sword style in real-time. Something that she only managed to do because of her Creativity talent and years of sword experience.

The combination of Alex's Instinct talent and my Swordsmanship talent created an original ability, my personal Sword Style.

The other students just thought that I was taught that style by someone, only Marianne and Lou knew that I hadn't been trained in the sword, so to them this was insanity.

My trust in my talent paid off, thirty minutes into the battle I had yet to be hit. However, I was starting to get tired, if it hadn't been for the Endurance talent, I wouldn't have been able to continue ages ago.

I was taken to the infirmary to rest, so I didn't get to see the other characters fight the golem but I roughly knew how it went down.

I tried to fall asleep, but the sound of the door opening and people entering prevented me from doing so.

"Your fight with the golem was awesome Alex. What's the name of that sword style I have never seen it before." said a voice I hadn't heard before.

Taking a look at the person talking to me I realized that she was Alice Stargazer, the main love interest in the original novel and also The Heroine.

"Name huh... Freestyle Sword is the name. What's yours?" That's the name I chose for my sword style. I named it like that because I made it by improvising without any real structure to the style so it only felt right to call it Freestyle Sword.

"My name is Alice, do you wanna be my sparring partner?" She asked with a sparkle in her eyes.

"Sure, I don't mind. Anyway, I'm hungry wanna go to the cafeteria." I responded as I stood up.

"Yes, I am starving let's go, my friends should also be there"
