There was no unpleasant scent to it; just a musky sweetness that was achingly familiar. Crevyn took his first mouthful. It was like honey, or cinnamon, or a rich, sweet dessert. Warmth spread through Crevyn and his body tingled as if in anticipation.
“Crevyn was indeed the finder of the elixir.” The judge threw back his hood and revealed himself to bethe man with long, white hair and beard who Crevyn had helped in the forest. “My name is Kano. I am pleased you passed the challenge, Crevyn.”
Cruel laughter rang out, and Crevyn glanced back at Garvit.
“Looks like your master won’t be around long enough to teach you anything.” Garvit smirked, then jerked a thumb toward the judge. “I’m glad he’s not my master.”
“Looks aren’t everything. Do you want me, Crevyn?” Kano tossed his cloak aside and came to stand in front of the other judges who all removed their hoods.
