Cheer

Adelaide headed to the square to meet the girls. She was kind of nervous but excited all at once. She made it outside and moved through the sea of people swiftly until finally she spotted them standing and waiting against the wall. "Hey guys!" She said as she approached, "Addy, finally! Let's hurry and talk to coach. I'm starving!" Clarke said as she linked arms with Addy and skipped down the walkway.

The girls laughed and joked all the way to the gym, until Kendall knocked and opened the door to a small office tucked away in the back. "Coach Kay? We have someone we would like you to meet!" Kendall announced as she walked into coaches office, gently dragging Addy by her arm. "Hi! My name is Adelaide Smith, I just moved here from Florida." Addy introduced herself and reached for a handshake which Coach happily returned with a big warm smile, "Hello Adelaide, it's so nice to make your aquatints! What can I do for you ladies?" "Well, Adelaide was on the cheerleading squad at her old school. We are here to see if we could talk you into letting her join the team" Clarke squeaked. "Well, we do have a spot. Let's go out to the gym and see what you've got!" The coach clapped her hands and escorted the girls out to the floor.

Adelaide preformed a few simple cheers, splits, back hand springs and other tricks as the coach instructed. After she finished all the girls held their breath while Coach Kay thought it over. "You've got real talent. We could use you on the team. Welcome aboard! I'll just have to get your size for a uniform, come here after school on Monday's, Wednesday's, and Friday's for practice 3-5." The girls screamed and cheered happily in celebration. "Thank you! I'm so happy to get back out there!" Adelaide thanked her over and over before finally Coach got what she needed from her and shooed them out of the gym and to the cafeteria for some lunch. "Yay! I'm so excited! This will be so great!" Katelyn said as she skipped down the walkway. "I am so relieved. I have been hoping I could get onto another cheer squad when we moved! My mom will be so excited!" Adelaide remarked as she happily trailed behind Katelyn with the other two trailing behind them. As they made their way into the cafeteria Addy caught a glimpse of Michael walking out of the cafeteria with Jason, a group of other guys she hadn't yet met. Then she noticed a flash of bright ginger hair peeking above one of the guys heads. She got a clearer view and she saw Whitney walking with them. Jealousy struck through Adelaide but she tried to push it away, reminding herself that Michael told her they were broken up and tried to find comfort in the fact. Her and Michael made quick eye contact, and he gave her a quick wink and then kept walking with his friends. "Adelaide, come on you're slowing us down!" Clarke whined, "the line is already so long, come on!" She pulled her arm and they picked up the pace to the back of the line. "You look distracted. Is everything okay?" Kendall asked, "yeah! Everything is great! I am just trying to get a feel for everything I guess!" Addy tried to assure her new found friends and grinned ear to ear.

They picked their seats at a table in the middle and started eating the sad little sandwich the school tries to pass for a burger. "So, what do you guys know about Michael?" Adelaide questioned. "Michael who?" Katelyn asked. "He's in our first class." Adelaide reminded her, "oh yes! Him. Him and this girl named Whitney were an item, but he ended it with her when he found her cheating. She still refuses to believe they're broken up. I would keep my distance, it's a mess and she is crazy and can make your life hell." Katelyn cautioned "not to mention he is kind of a player," Clarke added with a mouth full of food "although, he does throw great parties. He is having one tonight, we are going after practice! You should come Addy!" "Michael actually already invited me." Addy blushed as she told the girls a brief run down of yesterday's jog, leaving out their time in the car. Clarke, Kendall, and Katelyn looked at each other and turned to Adelaide, "just be careful around him. With him trouble always seems to follow." Kendal said in a hushed voice. Adelaide nodded as she continued to eat her lunch.
