A Connection

Every day Lunetta has kept up a routine she looked forward too. After lowering the moon, she would rush off to the shore hoping to see Fenris, eager to learn more about humans. An image of Fenris creeps into her mind. Soft brown hair the color the rich forest tree trunks, scruffy facial hair strategically lining his jaw accentuating his chiseled features. The structured strong shape of his nose thick lashes that hooded his eyes. Oh, how she loved his eye's, as blue as the waters beneath the frigid glaciers of the fjord they called home. Lost in thought, she thinks of his mouth and how she loves when he says her name. "snap out of it Luna " she thinks, head full of flustered emotions. Lunetta breaches the water along the shoreline, and spots Fenris already there dozing off under the sun. Grasping her amulet, she transforms and gently walks ashore. Slowly she walks up to the sleeping Fenris and kneels beside him. Fenris seemed so peaceful, eyes lightly fluttering as he slept. Enjoying the quiet moment, the wind blows his hair into his face. Lunetta without thinking reaches over and gently leads the hair back into place, sliding her finger delicately over his skin. Staring into his face Lunetta's heart swells like rising and falling tide. As her cheeks begin to burn, Fenris slowly opens his eyes to see a blushing nude Lunetta over him. Startled he knocks her to the side and reaches for his blade.

"what in the depths is your problem human?!" lunetta sneers, now frightened and angered that she let her self-become vulnerable. Fenris looks from lunetta to his knife, taking a minute to collect his thoughts. Dropping the knife, he took a step towards lunetta hands up in front of him. Lunetta shuffled back worried for her safety. "Lunetta no I'm sorry… please forgive me. I was not expecting you to be over me and I thought that..." he stops. "you thought what" she yelled "that I was going to kill you?" "No of course not "he replied in pleading tone. "Don't lie to me! All you see is the beast from your books, you think of me as a murderous monster!" she yells tears stream down her face in anger. Fenris had never seen such emotion in all these days they spent together. Lunetta had always seem so calm and collected, naïve at times, childish even but she had a regal essence to her. It broke his heart to see her there, trust lost in an instant. Desperate to show her he bore no ill will he begins to undress. Taking a sharp breath in Lunetta stiffens in her stance. Slowly he pulls off his shirt and drops it to the ground. Lunetta looks at him confused as to what he thinks this will solve. "look at me…do you see these scars?" Fenris says in a steady voice eyes focused on Lunetta. Glancing over his torso she sees old marks all over, some large some small. Fenris turns to reveal his back which was also covered in marks and a tattoo. "These marks on my body are from many things, some stupid scrapes as a boy. Some from wars I was in." Fenris stares out upon the sea "and there's scars that are from those who have betrayed me" their eyes lock. "Lunetta I know the pain of betrayal I swear to you, I never want to be a traitor to you". Lunetta falls to her knees she had never been so vulnerable before not even with Solyra. All these emotions were too much to handle. Holding her arms to her chest and weeping she felt a breeze and then the soft warm touch of a pelt. Fenris had draped the animal pelt blanket around her, then begins to walk away. "Please, stay with me today in the woods, ill be waiting." He says solemnly, disappearing into the forest. Lunetta looks out at the sea watching the sun raise higher into the sky. "Oh Solyra I wish you were with me. I wish to embrace and tease you about turning into a blow fish" lunetta sadly giggles at her silly wish. Standing up taking a deep breath, she grips her pendant and swears to be stronger and continue to be someone Solyra can look up too. Finding the clothing Fenris left out for her, she follows him into the woods. The day was spent with apologies and gentle laughs. Things were different now; this was no longer and innocent friendship. There was more, there was… a connection. As the sun sets, Fenris Accompanies Lunetta to the shore pulling something out of pocket. "what is this" she asks grabbing the bag from him. Fenris chuckles at her eagerness and says, "open it, it's a gift." Quickly she opens the bag and pulls out a diamond shaped pendent forged from iron ore. Flipping it over she sees a Norse rune carved into it. "Wolf" Fenris says walking over he shows the tattoo on his back. The design displayed a fanged beast covered in fur "This is called a wolf; it lives in these woods. Its is believed to be a symbol of protection to my village, much like Geri and Freki were protection for Odin. I made this for you. I want you to know, I will always protect you when you are on shore." Lunetta blushes and puts the pendent on, then looks up into Fenris's eyes. They sit for moment trapped in their gaze the sun slowly disappearing off the horizon. "what are you thinking of" Lunetta whispers shyly. Fenris take a step closer shortening the gap between them. "Words or actions "Fenris says in a deep hushed voice. Lunetta blushed, taking shallow breathes her heart raging like the sea upon a rock. "actions" she whispers, closing her eyes slowly. Fenris takes a step forward, his hand outstretched to caress her soft round cheeks. Closing the gap between them he wraps his other hand around her to pull her close and lower his head to reach her lips. Lunetta went limp as their lips touched, she had never felt warmth like this. Melting into his arms she pushed back matching his force. The sun's rays flicker slowly beneath the horizon. Lunetta begins to walk back into the sea not releasing a loving gaze. "you will return? "Fenris ask rubbing his hand on the back of his neck. "I swear it, but please do not come here on the darkest of eves" confused Fenris replies "that's tomorrow why not". Lunetta looks over her shoulder before she descends, and says because I want to protect you too"…
