A Lesson Learned

[WARNING THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS DESCRIPTIVE GORE. READERS BE WARNED.]

"Welcome to Rath'Nia!"

With the message shown to everyone, it now became clear that they weren't in fact dreaming, but we're really in a different world.

The message itself was brief but was concrete evidence of real magic, something Earth never had. Those around me were excited and I too can't help but also feel the same.

I've always dreamed of flying with no limit with my hands grazing through clouds or swinging through the buildings of New York like Spider-man.

The feeling of freedom-filled bliss I thought I'd never experience is now realized right here for me to enjoy.

"Ehem*"

With a cough to calm our excitement, Persephone took our attention once more.

"As you can see from the screen, magic is real."

Everyone who was nerds about wizards and dragons nearly broke the sound barrier with their screams.

And those adept at games were barely holding on to themselves from running out into the forest.

Persephone chuckled at their childlike behaviors and continued on.

"Please tone down a bit. I understand your excitement, but first I need to explain why you are here."

The previous atmosphere was gone as everyone paid close attention to her next words.

Magic is real and soon we might have the ability to do what we want just like those novels and mangas we've read. At this point, our excitement was at an all-time high.

"The reason why your chosen is because you are all talented."

"Everyone here is capable of things most humans cannot."

A sense of pride was on everyone's faces their achievements and efforts showing through.

I also can't help but feel proud of myself, I am after all the valedictorian of my school. All done with sweat, blood, and tears.

And quite possibly cum too…

"But the reason why you're here is for another reason… something far more serious."

Persephone's tone completely changed, her cute aloofness replaced by somewhat dreadful fear. She snapped her fingers and the screen with the message disappeared.

Then a picture of a weird-looking creature that resembles a goblin, but the eyes were black with a goat-shaped crimson iris. Everyone didn't seem to be surprised by the revelation, their understanding of fantasy was already well-established. But what we thought was supposed to be a picture was instead a video.

As soon as the video started playing the goblin opened its mouth, its unkempt teeth protruding out of its mouth.

Soon it began screeching a blood-curdling screech, but luckily the noise was magically transmitted directly into our ears otherwise the whole area would be a cacophony of blood-curdling screams.

Although I say lucky, having to hear the thing scream directly into my ears is still very unpleasant.

The video continued as the goblin began twitching all over its body, its green stomach bulging from within like an eaten creature squirming around trying to escape the insides of the goblins stomach.

A few seconds later the goblin's screams began to gurgle as blood boiled in the goblin's mouth. Black foam started leaking from its lips as its stomach began to bloat to an abnormal size.

I looked around momentarily to see everyone covering their mouths while others were puking out their lunches.

I turned around to look for Laura and Yoimiya, I spotted them watching the video with a stark expression on their faces. Yoimiya was barely holding on, her hands on her mouth and stomach while Laura was grimacing from watching it scream miserably.

I couldn't help but be upset at Persephone for showing us this, but I have a brief understanding as to why.

Walking behind them, I held their shoulders in hopes they feel somewhat better. Yoimiya considerably relaxed and Laura looked relieved. I stood there watching it from their screen not leaving their side.

The video continues and the goblin soon began moving its body. With a thud, its back lay flat on the ground as its belly bulged out nearly tripling in size. But what I expected was a goblin balloon popping something unexpected happened.

The goblin stopped convulsing on the ground, its belly finally halting its growth. At first, I thought the goblin died and the video would end but what I saw made those on the verge of puking release what they were holding back.

Without a hint of warning the goblin split in half, Its innards were gone as tendrils of black ooze squirmed around while attaching themselves to the ground before wrapping around the goblin like a cocoon. It wasn't even seconds before it all happened before the cocoon transformed the goblin into something it wasn't supposed to be. The usual green look was nowhere to be seen as a black figure stood in its spot.

Its black crimson eyes were gone replaced by an empty void. The shape of its skull was deformed as bones protruded out the back of its head. Its hair grew from its normally bald head that seemed to move around like tentacles.

The absolute size of the goblin tripled in size, its limbs reaching longer than its torso before the transformation. But what nearly made me stop looking was its wide open mouth filled with sharp teeth. Its black tongue squirmed around uncontrollably.

With its transformation complete a guttering screech came out of its mouth as tears of blood started pouring down its face making its pitiful life more miserable. The screaming continued for seconds before a bright light covered the creature. We all winced from the flash, but as soon as the light disappeared the creature was gone. Deleted from existence.

The video ended there leaving most, if not all of us in a state of distress.

Persephone looked at us, a guilty look on her face as words weren't able to come out of her mouth. I looked at her in understanding and sensing my gaze she looked back reaffirming herself once more.

"The creature you all just witnessed came from the abyss."

Everyone had a blank look on their face, their expressions void of the excitement from magic.

"Specifically what caused it."

She once again snapped her fingers and a new image came into view. Various pictures of black creatures resembling insects back on Earth were on our screen.

"These creatures invade the host's body, transforming it into monsters of the abyss."

She paused momentarily before taking a glimpse at me once more. With her determination resolidified she continued with her speech.

"And they'll soon reach Earth."
