ALICE
“Iyesha wait for me!” She did not stop nor slow down. She raced through the crowd of passersby and students like us. No matter how much I quicken my pace, my short legs are not enough to get close to her. Why am I so short?!
“Iyesha!” she crossed the small intersection without looking back. Even dashed right through the main road at green light. I stopped beside the stop light pole to catch my breath.
Iyesha’s long way gone. Me? I’m long way tired. I crouched and grasped my knees for support. I’m never a runner. Except when adrenaline possessed me like ghosts. Like that girl who left me behind. When the green light blares, I haste my strides but careful enough not to exert too much effort on my leg muscles. I still need to stand five hours straight. I'm gonna need all the strength I could muster.
When I arrived at the cafe, Iyesha’s changing out of her uniform at the locker. Her wild eyes startled me when I came in.
