"EEK!"

"…"

The door completely opens, revealing Pyrrha seated on the ground, rapidly scooting away from my door. "Why are you picking at my door?"

"O-Oh, I'm sorry, I just saw a crease in the rock and it made me a little confused, I-I wasn't aware anyone was living behind it." She stutters with a small embarrassed blush on her face.

She blinks as she stares at me. "W-WAIT! I remember you! You're that nice boy that gave me your cloak!"

"Hn? Oh right... you... the popular girl."

She bows slightly. "Thank you so much for that, with your help I was able to get home easily without any more paparazzi."

A quest has been completed.

+5 Affection with Pyrrha Nikos for previous actions.

"No problem." I state with a sigh.

"Why are you living in a hole?"

"It's a fairly nice hole." I shrug. "I'm hiding from people who want to use me."

"People... who want to use you?" She whispers.

"Yep, my semblance is pretty good... an entire town could probably piggyback off of it for protection against the grimm." I state. "So, what's your name, popular girl?"

"P-Please don't call me that."

"Well, 'P-Please don't call me that.' My name is Azure." I smirk as I gesture into my home.

"My name is Pyrrha..." She pouts as she slowly walks forwards, looking into the crystal doorframe.

"Y-You can make dust crystals?!"

"Nah, only regular crystal for now... buuut it used to just be earth, so I might be able to make dust in a year or two."

"That is... incredible." She whispers in awe.

A cool breeze blows through the area causing the girl to shiver slightly.

"Want to come in?" I ask with a sigh.

"If you wouldn't mind." She quietly whispers with a bowed head, large blush across her face.

She steps through the boundary and looks around, blinking at awe at the table and stove in the corner. "You... made this?"

"Yep, I can control dirt, stone, crystal, probably some more. I have what's called a 'hereditary semblance' that passes from parent to child... much like the Schnee family's... but mine can't speed up someone's perception of time... or summon defeated grimm... or let me run on walls... or whatever else it can do, so I'd say mine is just a bit weaker."

I turn back to look at her as the door quietly closes and squeeze my index and middle finger together. "Just a little bit."

You have gained +2 affection with Pyrrha Nikos.

'hn? Why? What did I do?'

I take this moment to observe the girl, she should be a good measuring stick for characters in canon, and while it might be three years before canon, she still won a tournament, meaning she is probably one of the stronger kids in Mistral.

"…"

Frankly... she seems a little weak...

"I've unlocked my semblance as well." The girl smiles. "I can control metal objects, but I like to keep it secret so I have an advantage in battle... I-I won the Mistral Regional Tournament nearly a year ago... a-and well, my semblance practically carried me through it. "

She scratches the back of her head as she looks at the floor, frown appearing on her face. "it... seems like cheating so I am a little ashamed about it."

"Why should you be ashamed?" I scoff. "People aren't born equally, everyone in that tournament can freely use their semblance... who cares if yours is stronger than normal?"

'ah, so her semblance is unlocked... which probably means she gains a larger increase from her aura than I do... that'd place her at like... oh... well over three hundred strength and dexterity... I can still beat her if it comes down to it. magic beats Aura and Semblance, I suppose. '

"You shouldn't let the opinions of other people get you down, the common person won't know what it's like to be a huntress or huntsmen, so their opinions of what is and isn't cheating isn't really valid, now is it?"

You have gained +10 affection with Pyrrha Nikos.

'how desperate for a friend is this poor girl?'

"Care for a seat?" I ask as I gesture to the table.

She nods and takes a seat as I sit down on the other edge that isn't pressed up against the wall.

You have gained +1 affection with Pyrrha Nikos.

"S-So why are you hiding? You said it was to stop people from using you... but... who would do that?"

"Quite a few people... I can build walls in seconds, create weapons, potentially dust, if that last thing comes true the Schnee dust company would probably either send assassins at me, or forcibly invite me to their family to 'make the bloodline stronger' or something like that, then you have the huntsmen school headmasters like Beacon's and Haven's, then you have that one bandit clan running around the continent of Anima somewhere, I think they were called the 'Branwen Tribe' or something, their leader wouldn't turn down my semblance, then there are probably a couple others."

You have gained +5 affection with Pyrrha Nikos.

"T-That's horrible..." She whispers while covering her mouth.

"Yeah," I sigh. "it is, but it's just what I have to deal with... I'm doing quite a bit of training to get stronger... if I get strong enough, nobody will be able to force me to do anything..."

"It was fine about a week ago, buuuut I got attacked by a grimm that is probably 'big deal' due to the whole 'intelligence' thing and all... then killed it on camera... soooo now people are probably looking for me."

"I-Inteligent grimm?"

"Oh yeah, pretty rough, it learned as I was fighting it... basically a super beowolf."

"Wait... I THOUGHT YOU LOOKED FAMILAR!" She gasps. "I saw that video!"

"oh gods." I whisper. "It is on the internet."

She covers her mouth again. "O-oh I'm sorry... I-I guess you aren't too good with popularity either."

"Yeah." I state with a deadpan expression. "I'd much rather just sit in my home here, drink hot chocolate, and train."

"Isn't that... a little lonely?" She mutters with a frown.

"oho absolutely. I'm practically crippling all my social skills, but honestly, I don't really care... it's a little bit better now that I can walk to Argus, but before I was out-"

I look at the wall beside us and do a small pushing motion, the wall gains an indent the general shape of Remnant.

"Here."

I point to my starting location. "Yeah, there were no people for miles... making it an absolutely horrible and lonely six months with nothing but my thoughts."

You have gained +5 affection with Pyrrha Nikos.

She taps her fingers together, nervously looking at the ground. "W-Well, I-if you want, you don't have to be lonely any more... I-I can be your friend... I don't really talk to many people either... I-I used to, but my older friends' sort of distanced themselves from me after I won the tournament... now every new friend just wants something from me..."

"Sure, I'll be your friend." I shrug.

You have gained +20 affection with Pyrrha Nikos.

She immediately brightens up. "Really?!"

"I mean, yeah... we're both alike, and you seem pretty fun to be around." I shrug.

'should I say this? Eh fuck it.'

"Plus, you're very pretty"

She flinches, red quickly becoming apparent on her face as she blushes and breaks eye contact.

You have gained +5 affection with Pyrrha Nikos.

"I-I oh... h-hm t-thanks." She stutters.

"Would you like something to drink?"

"N-No thank you, I'm f-fine for now."

She steadily gets her blushing under control. "Would... you mind if I hang out here sometimes?"

"Nah, I don't mind." I shrug. "I'll even make the door open for you."

"Well, I-I sort of want to get away from people sometimes, and I-if you'd let me, this is probably the best hiding spo- wait what?"

"I said I don't mind; you can come here if you want."

"R-REALLY?!" She asks.

"Uh, yeah." I nod. "I don't really mind... if you need a place that's quiet, you can drop by... I don't have much in the way of fun, though..."

"I-It's fine... I... just want someone to talk to sometimes... someone who doesn't care about my championship title..."

"You're right about the 'not caring' part... I personally probably could have won if I really tried... buuut that'd draw attention to myself, so I'm probably going to stay away from tournaments."

Pyrrha lets out a sigh. "I wish I had... I joined the tournament because it sounded fun... I'd get to fight strong people and if I somehow won, I'd get a cash prize to help my family... I-I didn't expect it to be so..."

"Easy?"

"Mhm." She nods as she absentmindedly stares at the floor.

"Pyrrha, do you plan to enter again?" I ask, briefly dragging my finger along the edge of a blue crystal mug that's sat by the wall.

"I-I'm sort of obligated to... as the champion..." She mutters, head lowering.

"Pyrrha, what would you say your reputation is at this moment?" I ask with a frown.

"U-Uh... what?" She blinks, caught a little off guard by my question.

"How do people see you... why do people care so much that you are the champion?" I continue, tapping my fingers on the table.

"I... am the youngest champion since the tournament started... I won at the age of Fourteen while the previous youngest was fifteen?" She murmurs, glancing away shyly.

"Well, frankly, it's just going to get worse if you keep winning... if you fight to the best of your ability, use your semblance in every match, you'll eventually get this persona as the 'Invincible Girl'." I frown. "Everyone will have this big expectation that you are some unkillable goddess of battle, and should you ever find yourself to actually lose... there'd be uproar... if people figured out your semblance, and you had that persona, you would face no end of criticism for 'cheating', people would feel let down... they'd think you used your semblance to win it all... even if you didn't."

She is silently listening.

"Now, I'm not telling you to drop out of the tournament, or even lose on purpose, what I'm saying is that if your matches are just a little closer people may not have such big expectations for you..." I state with a small smile, moments before my smile falls into a frown. "But there is another reason entirely..."

"Hm?" She hums.

"Grimm aren't going to be the only enemy you face as a huntress..." I growl. "There are some absolutely sick fucks out there who murder, rape, and destroy for the fun of it... there is an assassin who can steal semblances... a crazy Scorpion Faunus who can disable your aura, and disfigured child who wants nothing more than to cause pain... as a huntress, you will be forced to fight people like this on a regular basis..."

"Steal... semblances?" She whispers in quiet horror.

Semblances are parts of a huntsmen's soul... to have it stolen... yeah, I can see why she would be horrified.

"All of these people exist, Pyrrha... and I'm going to drop some advice on you right now... bad guys don't fight fairly... they will use any possible way to kill you... shooting at civilians, taking hostages, perhaps even studying your previous tournament fights to figure out how you fight, your weapons, and your personality... you are at a disadvantage, and they may ruthlessly abuse that fact."

"I-I..." She whispers.

"Or, y'know, use a sight-based illusionary semblance to get you to kill or injure your opponent mid-match on live television, where you see something different than what actually happens." I shrug.

I pause for a brief moment to allow my blatant foreshadowing to sink in.

"You should train to fight these threats, Pyrrha, but you shouldn't broadcast your skill level to everyone who has enough brains or is bored enough to watch your fights... if they watch a tournament where you are holding back, even a little, that little burst of power or skill you release when you fight them seriously may surprise them enough for you to defeat them..."

"I-Isn't holding back disrespectful to the... other fighters?" She whispers to herself.

"You are allowed to be selfish or disrespectful sometimes, Pyrrha... I just don't want you to die..."

You have gained +15 affection with Pyrrha Nikos.

"Y-You... really care that much about me?"

"Well, yeah... you're my friend."

You have gained +1 affection with Pyrrha Nikos.

She brings a hand to her mouth and looks away with a blush.

"So, why are you even out this far, Pyrrha?" I ask with a small frown and a head tilt. "My home isn't something you could... just randomly stumble upon."

"I was just looking for a quiet spot to train... I can't do it at Sanctum... I get bothered too often by people wanting autographs... or people just wanting to watch me... I-it's distracting..."

"I can help you train." I suggest with a small shrug.

Her eyes practically sparkle. "R-REALLY?!"

"Sure... it's no big deal."

She blinks as she realizes something. "O-OH wait! I've been here for a while! D-do you know what time it is? I promised my mom I'd be back by five."

"Uhhh... about four thirty?" I shrug, glancing to the clock

"CRAP!" She gasps. "I-I need to go!"

"It's fine." I shrug. "I'll see you when you come back."

She turns around and makes for the door.

It slowly opens up for her as she turns and waves. "I-I'll see you later, Azure! I'm glad you're my friend!"

"You too!" I call after her.

She rushes out of the door as it slowly closes.

*Chrzzz*

There is a small rumble as it closes completely.

"Welp, back to grinding."

A quest has been received.

Quest Failed: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH:

"To be fair, you made it so I have to grind up Ice and Electricity to get your ice cream domain to progress my Neo plot... and that may take a bit longer considering I'll be distracted by Pyrrha now." I scoff at the screen. "And I'd like to have my golem creation at max so I don't fucking die."

"Besides, why are you pissy, I'm interacting with Pyrrha. Who cares what I do in my off time? If some of my days are taken up by Pyrrha, that just means I need to activate MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE on my grinding abilities."

I have been holding myself back because HOLY SHIT that would have been boring, buuut fuck it.

Normally, I'd make a golem that is as strong as I could possibly make it, then store it for later... but now...

A miniature golem appears before me.

I summon another, then another, then repeat until I'm nearly out of Mana.

Sixteen golems stand before me, practically filling the room.

"Kill each other... then the last remaining one sweep away all the shards into that hole."

A small pit appears in the floor about three feet deep as I close my eyes and activate meditation.

The reason I didn't want to train like this is because it is borderline psychopathic. 'oh yes, I summoned all of you here to fight for my amusement' yet I'm not amused, I'm doing this as if a wage slave does his desk job so it's more of a 'hi yes, kill yourselves for my own progression, don't want to max out my golem counter after all~'

I'm not about to send them out to fight grimm... one: they literally couldn't even kill a creep, and two: a line of marching golems moving at like two inches a second would definitely attract attention.

Attention that I don't want...

I notice a new tab in my status.

Relationships:

Pyrrha Nikos: 70/100

'SEVENTY OUT OF ONE HUNDRED ALREADY?! THAT POOR GIRL!'

I tilt my head. 'but what does seventy out of one hundred mean?'

*Ping*

Pyrrha Nikos: 70/100:

Relationship Status: Large crush, believes it might be love at first sight, is extremely vulnerable to any niceties to someone who doesn't know of, or care about, her tournament victory, in particular, you.

'yeesh... what happens when I get to one hundred?'

I shake my head and continue meditating, ignoring the shattering sound just in front of me.

'it's going to be a long night... isn't it?'

Create Crystal Golem has leveled up!

'Yes, yes it is.'
