THE LOST PROPHECY

The death of a professor of history at New York University during an expedition in Iraq triggers a chain of events that have been prophesied since biblical times of the flood, where The Book of Nimrod, the most powerful man, was hidden, and now the world is about to succumb to the power that God himself once feared. Gregory Evans, when investigating the death of a boy in a satanic ritual at Trinity Church, finds himself involved in a plot of global domination where everyone is suspect and guilty, including God and the devil himself.

CHAPTER 6

THE CAR PARKED NEXT to the mall entrance.

— Wait a minute, Christopher, I'll be right back — Senator James Hofma said to the driver, who nodded, knowing that when the Senate did something like that, it had to do something behind the scenes.

A vehicle pulled up a few meters behind them and a well-dressed black man got out, and for a moment he removed his BL sunglasses and looked in all directions. His eyes, however, turned to the roof of the building opposite with a perfect view of the entrance to the mall.

It would give, thought the Senator, a perfect ambush...

But he knew he was meeting one of America's most trusted people, a hero from the time he was a boy and now he was always on the front pages of law enforcement.

James Hofma knew that his ideas in the Senate ran counter to many interests — it would even be difficult to find out who would try to assassinate him from so many enemies he had, but his charisma always stood out and ended up going off on a tangent, that had been his greatest lesson of the times officership in the army.

The man who was following Senator James Hofma was a longtime friend and there was no more discreet place for them to talk than that.

— Greg... I'm so glad you showed up, I was going to visit you at the police department.

Greg and Hofma embraced.

— Good to see you all right, James, thanks for answering the phone and promptly reaching out to me.

— Despite the circumstances...

Greg nodded.

— I'm sorry for you and your family, James.

— Thank you for dealing with all of this so secretly, on behalf of my family who did not deserve to be going through this, my wife is inconsolable.

— James, you know better than anyone that I won't be able to hide this for long, but I need answers, we have a complicated case and your son is involved to the hilt with it, he kidnapped a boy for some kind of ritual.

— God only knows what those kids were doing over there, Greg, that's an answer I could never give, because I've never asked that question.

— If you had the answer, would you give it to me?

The senator was silent and that was the answer Greg needed.

— You know you owe me that, James.

The senator smiled, after all, he had already given all the answers to the media and in the afternoon paper they would report his son's death as a domestic accident.

— Seems like creditors always show up to collect your old debts, don't they?

— Some things never prescribe.

— And I thought it was my gratitude that was indescribable.

— Since you used what I did to promote yourself and reach the Senate, I think it's the least you can do, that kind of debt doesn't expire.

— But unfortunately I can't do it, Greg, this debt will unfortunately remain open, because I want to know about it as much as you do, and you can be sure that whoever did this will pay a lot.

KNOWING Senator Hofma's HABITS, a CNN camera crew was at the door when the politician arrived at his office.

— Senator Hofma, gun control please...

— Later, later, now I need to solve a problem first, but I'll speak to you at a more opportune time — said the politician with the same elegance and charisma as always, quickly passing through the marble and glass portico.

The security guard, who was an FBI agent, entered right behind, preventing journalists from following him.

The Senator rode up in a private elevator. Your phone rang:

— Yes... sure... that's excellent news... thank you.

James Hofma put his cell phone away and that was the first good news in the last week.
