"That's pretty awesome. Have you ever had the whole place to yourself without reserving it before?" Angelo immediately shook on her seat, "Hey," she tilted her head back, "Red, have you already had lunch? Would you like to join u- ouch! Drey, what was that for?"
"Because you were being dense again," Nawilla answered for him. Then he tilted his own head to look at Red. "Thank you for the meal. We shall let you know when we are don- hey, what was that for!" he glared at Angelo who had also hit him underneath the table.
Before she could answer him, the alpha male had already spoken up, "I would not mind joining you for lunch. As fate would have it, I haven't had lunch myself." Without waiting for any of them to refute him, he had already left. He returned a few minutes later with a meal of his own.
His lips were pulled up slightly as he took the space that was left next to Edrey. Edrey moved, allowing him to seat. It was only after Red had sat that Edrey noticed the thick alpha's scent that lay below the omega's scent. The scent was even stronger than that of his two friends. Even in his family, he had not felt another person with such a strong pheromone scent. It somewhat made him uncomfortable.
Angelo, being the social butterfly she was, spoke to Red, including him in their conversations. "Hey, Drey, on a scale of one to ten, do you think your grandfather will be willing to listen to Nawilla's idea on the new generation mechas?" Angelo looked at Nawilla with corner eyes.
Nawilla smacked Angelo underneath the table, "I told you not to ask that." He chastised. The prototype isn't even complete. All I have is a broken-down mecha to work with. With simply the idea, I don't think I can show it off to people."
"What idea?" Edrey cocked his head in confusion, "I haven't heard of this before."
"Well, I only told this lump a few days ago." Nawilla raised his hand as if to smack Angelo, but in the end, he lowered it. "Mechas have always been operated manually by single people, but I had the idea that it would be faster if it was manned by two people. There are a lot of kinks I have to go through with my broken down mecha being the one I am using."
Edrey stopped chewing, and he fell into thought, "What do you think of the idea?" Angelo pointed at Red as she asked.
"Me?" Red pointed towards himself as if he was shocked by the fact that he had been pointed out. "I am not quite sure. I haven't manned a mecha myself." He shoved another spoon of food in his mouth, "But I did hear that they are quite hard to man, and that's why there's just a few people who manage to go through and pass the rigorous training that it takes to make that happen."
"Well, you're not wrong." Angelo smiled at him, "Of the three of us, only Edrey and I are able to control mechas perfectly." In addition to that, Edrey was the only omega able to control and use a mecha to fight. However, Red did not need to know that.
"That is amazing." Red wowed clapping his hands together. Edrey stared at him as he spoke. Although he was clapping and there was a large smile on his face, he noticed that his eyes were dimmed, as if the information did not excite him in the slightest.
"Of course it is." Angelo continued to speak as if she could not see his reaction. "We're just that amazing, y'know, getting our mecha licenses early and all." Then, as if she had just realized something, Angelo clapped her hands together, "Of course, our Willa is just as amazing himself. He's the youngest mecha scientist on the planet."
She pointed at Nawilla who was busy concentrating on his meal.
"You should stop speaking, your food will get cold." Nawilla looked up from his bowl to push her hand away. "If you continue to speak, I will shove these up your nose." He made a shoving motion with the two chopsticks that were in his hands.
Like a good child, she looked down at her meal and started shoving it down her mouth.
This time, Red managed a burst of small laughter. "The three of you are quite close." He spoke up.
Edrey tilted his head to glance at him, and noticed the sad smile that was on his face. Edrey could not say that he was perfect at deciphering the emotions on someone else's face. However, he felt that it was quite simple to read the emotions that were on Red's face.
"Of course we are!" Angelo replied, her mouth full of food.
"It's not by choice though," Nawilla replied
"It is somewhat by choice though." Edrey cut in as well once he noticed that Angelo and Nawilla were now glaring at each other.
Angelo stuffed food in her mouth, "It's a beautiful day, so I am not going to argue with you." She childishly stuck her tongue out at him and went back to her food.
Edrey gave Red an apologetic smile. "I apologize for them,"
He expected to see a look of disappointment or disgust on Red's face. After all, the three of them were nothing like what others perceived them to be. Contrary to his expectations, Red had a bright smile on his face, as he bowed to continue eating his food.
"It's quite alright. I wouldn't want to impose on their bantering." He said in a small voice that could have easily been ignored if he wasn't sitting close to Edrey.
It took them a few more minutes to finish their meal, and once they were done, Angelo, having been the one to invite them over, paid for the food. It was a few minutes later that they left, leaving the diner empty.
As they left the café, Red stood at the top floor, staring outside where Nawilla and Angelo were bickering. Edrey stood to the side, where he had his back lying on the seat of his hovercycle. He was swiping up a translucent screen while he had the corner of his eyes set on the two to ensure they didn't accidentally destroy something.
Seeing this, Red's lips pulled up slightly. Then, as if he had felt someone's eyes on him, Edrey looked up, in the direction of the room that Red was in. Then, as if it was completely normal, he raised his hand and shot Red a small wave. After that, he pressed on his wrist, causing the translucent screen to disappear.
Then, he pulled on the ears of the two alphas who had started smacking each other. He pushed them to their own hovercycles, and shot one last look at Red, before driving off after his friends.
Once they had disappeared, Red felt his heart drop to his stomach. He wasn't sure that he ever wanted to seriously cross swords with the second-born alpha of the White family. Edrey had quite a sharp and scary intuition for someone his age.
"And I've even met him before that time," Red whispered to himself. However, he smiled and pressed a button to close the curtains to the room. As the curtains drifted close, and the light slowly slimmed down, it enshrouded his body in a thin stream of light that covered his head from his forehead down to his toes. It almost gave him a sinister look.
"Avery" he called out. From the shadows of the room, a dark figure appeared. The figure was tall, much taller than Red was. There were two long slender horns on top of the figure's head. The horns were curved up at the base, and there was a small red tassel that dangled on the left horn.
Once the figure stopped behind Red, a deep chocolaty smell invaded his nostrils. Red's eyebrow twitched, and he turned, raised his hand, and pulled the figure that was floating behind him, by the neck.
"I told you to stop sneaking into the kitchen and stealing the treats I make to sell. Do you want to put me out of business?"
After pulling the figure down, he pressed another button next to the one that controlled the curtains. Almost immediately, the room was illuminated by a bright light. The figure hissed and struggled to escape Red's grasp. However, the alpha tightened his grip around his throat and pulled the figure even farther down, lowering them to their normal height.
The misty shadows which had caused the figure to appear taller than it was, dispersed.
From the figure, a feminine voice began to curse at Red. "You damn bastard. Is this how you treat a lady? Let me go! Let me go I say!"
Red tilted his head slightly, looking down at the female. Her hair was a light purple, long, and fell down to the backs of her knees.
