Inadvertent Discovery
He had to think about not being him, but being a janitor, which was weird, because then he was thinking, which was a more Di Tou thing to do, which created this whole paradox where to be, he had to not be, but to not be, he had to actively be…
It was sort of like thinking about sleeping because you knew you had something to do the next day, but the act of thinking of sleeping made it harder to sleep. Or telling yourself to calm down.
It worked differently from person to person, but it was often far harder to do something when you wanted to do it, especially when it regarded the mind and its many peculiarities.
