Two Reginald

Chapter 42| Two Reginald

"You could have sent for me mother, I'd have come at once instead of you having to bother coming to meet me." Saif politely commented even as she beamed at him, taking a seat.

"And who says a mother can't come to see her son?"

He smiled in response.

"I came to see you because well__" she met his glance not knowing how she'll express her concern about the human to Saif without rubbing him off badly.

If her hunch was right and he had an argument with Tristan because of the human then she needed to be cautious in handling the matter. The last thing she needed was offending Saif in any way.

"Promise me you'll at least give my word a thought?"

Saif surprisingly glanced at her, shocked that the Queen of Queens was skeptical to discuss anything with him.

"I'll not only give it a thought, mother, but I would also try to grant your wish if it is within my reach."

"It is," she continued straightening, "Can you avoid the human completely?"

He narrowed his eyes at the Queen after some minutes now curious to know why a woman of her status will give the human a second thought, a simple being with no power.

"Can I ask why?" He asked thoughtfully and politely.

"I think she is more than what we can see now, they all are deceitful. All humans." She warningly glanced at him, "Don't be fooled by their innocent and humble deposition. They all are not honest, cunning beings."

"And how will you know that mother, did you ever meet any human that was all this?" He asked thoughtfully, noting that Queen Faye sounded like she was talking from an experience.

Realization struck him and he frowned even as the Queen looked away realizing that he had gotten what she was trying to avoid. His mother was human.

"Are you in any way comparing the human to my mother?" He asked, completely bewildered.

"I'm not comparing your mother with a lowly peasant. I'm sorry if you feel that way, son." She hurriedly apologized.

He rolled his eyes noting her misconception of his annoyance. He cared less about his mother, but felt bad that the Queen could just dislike Kimberly even without knowing her just because of his mother's very bad example so much so, she could even compare the very different women.

While his mother had craved power, revenge, Kimberly just wanted to live and then leave. She wanted nothing to do with the power system and cared less about acquiring gemstones or not.

"Mother, I need to ask you a question?"

She straightened, a silent gesture that told him she was waiting for his question, "Hades is a man from our realm right?"

"No, he was a god condemned by Zeus and that's why he fell to the ground." She offered.

He smirked, "But now, he is one of our kind. He stays in the realm now and was once a king of the demons so it is fair to see a ruler is our kind Right?"

She nodded even though she knew where Saif's statement and reference were implying and about resulting to.

"Now, because Hades is evil. An oppressor and his descendant, sinful, his demons subject lack conscience or a soul does that mean we all should be judged based on this blueprint because well, he is of this realm."

"That'll be unfair," she whispered involuntarily knowing she had walked right into a trap she couldn't wiggle out from.

He threw his hand wild in the air in incredulity, "Then why will you just condemn a human because of another of her kind? How could you detest someone you barely know so much based on assumption?"

"Saif," she started, "Trust me. That was how your mother was once upon a time until she had a taste of power, wealth," her eyes flashed as she held Saif's hand, "Eternal life."

"Kimberly isn't like that mother. You know she does have a name and is not just a human."

Queen Faye looked away knowing she was losing Saif based on the irritation now growing in his eyes, "She is sweet, strong, stubborn, and just unique. She tells good jokes and makes me laugh. Kimberly has a beautiful personality so why will she being human make me completely avoid her for no valid reason?"

"Because she is a stranger. We don't know her and we don't trust her."

"Neither her, Mother." He snapped as the anger he had tried to constrain was freed, "She was a lawyer living her best life and in just a day, her life is flipped and here she is in unfamiliar territory and she is supposedly going to bear a child for a man she knows is not of her kind. You do know she has a man she loves back home right? A life too? A mother that cares about her right!"

"You can't blame me for her fate, Saif. I didn't choose her." She looked away, muttering under her breath, "Left for me I won't open the Portal to invite filth here."

"Well, she is here and I trust her." He stared intently at his hands, "Sorry, Mother but what you ask of me is impossible. I can't avoid someone that has not given me a reason to doubt her intentions."

"Do you need proof before you believe she is just pretending?"

"Yes, I have proof she is a pure soul and I'll need equal proof if my opinion of her is going to change." He stood up, signaling that the discussion was over.

Queen Faye scowled even as she stood up.

She was yet again faced with another first because of the human. Saif had always considered her words even more than that of his birth mother.

"Will you at least think about what I said or just be careful around her."

"I control the wind, Queen. She doesn't have any magical power. Who should be careful around who?"

Noting that he didn't add mother and had politely used Queen she could tell his patience was becoming thin and he was soon about to lose his cool.

Intrigued on what sort of hold the human who had not even lasted for such a long time could have on a son she had nurtured all his life, to the extent he was set on arguing with anyone regardless of their status, she left the room assured that the human was up to no good.

Maybe Saif was right about just one thing. She was indeed wrong, perhaps the human was not even innocent now and she didn't need a taste of power to become corrupt. What if she was already in fact with an ulterior motive. The wealth and splendor of Indiosia could do that to anyone.

She already had Saif in her vice-like grip but Saif could only be just an ally but not secure her a place in Indiosia. But Tristan can.

Her eyes blazed with anger and determination, she will be damned before she let the human warm her petite weak self into her other son's life.

Saif's alliance with her, might give her some sort of power but he couldn't do much for her since she wasn't his chosen and he had no say in if she got to stay or not.

She beamed, there was still hope. She couldn't afford to have two Reginald. One was bad enough, two will bring complete ruins to the glory of the palace.
