James came and sat down next to me. I was too ashamed to look him in the eyes so instead, I looked down at my hands fidgeting nervously together.
”Hey,” he placed his hand on top of mine and used his other to lift and turn my head so that I was?forced to watch him.
”Why haven't you told me?”
I sighed and tried removing my chin from his grip but it only tightened.
”Because I know how important this is for you. For all of you. I didn't mean to sound like an ungrateful bitch but it’s just,” I was trying to find the right words but I didn't think that was possible.
”So much else is going on and this ceremony is last on my list of things to care about. We have a war coming, James. How am I supposed to put on a dress and walk up on that podium with you, all the while knowing that our friends, family, and pack is in danger?”
His eyes were searching mine, I could tell he understood me. He knew I was right. There were more pressing matters at our hands.
