Chapter 21: We Are Family, Part 3
Their last night in Bali.
They had done a quick family poll of the most memorable sights of the trip. Kavita had voted for the walk amongst the terraced rice fields of Ubud. It had drizzled a bit, but it had added to the charm of that emerald ocean. When the wind blew, the waves of tender rice stalks made beautiful patterns and a faint scent carried to them. Tania voted for snorkeling and Pari, predictably, for the banana boat ride. He chose the sunset at Tanah Lot temple. Tanah Lot in Bahasa Indonesia translated to Land Sea, meaning a small island floating on the sea. From the top of the cliff, they had watched the sun set the ocean aflame.
He felt they had reconnected as a family. With Tania particularly, he felt a barrier had been breached. For the first time in months, they were joking and laughing together.
