Katie spent two years in Iran with the Abbasi family before Pierce and his entire human trafficking ring were caught and taken down. She was free to reassume her true identity but, decided it was best for all if Kaitlynn Quinn remained dead and buried. So, she was able to finish her bachelor's degree under the name Aryana Ghorbani and then she spent another four years studying abroad as she worked with non profit organizations for human rights advocacy. Her decision to leave her old identity behind and continue her studies abroad while traveling the world came only after she discovered that Aiden had met someone else a year after her 'death' and was now married and had his first child with her. He seemed happier and more at peace now and, he was a retired colonel too. She didn't want to ruin that for him by coming back into his life after two years of being dead.
