CHAPTER EIGHT

The rest of the week was uneventful. I was always looking forward to hanging out with Alex. We went on a date on Tuesday and another on Thursday but I couldn't help but feel like I wasn't good enough. He has been sweet and complimentary but he hasn't asked me yet. I can't help but compare him to Jayden. He had walked me home after a week of throwing flirtatious comments and looks my way. He walked to our garden where we had lilies,my favorite flower and he mixed them with red roses. He presented them to me when he asked.

Flashback

"What took you so long boy," I said giggling at an anxious Jayden as I swung my legs from the porch seat which was high for me. "Sorry Sammy," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "You know I hate it when people call me Sammy.” "How about babe?" he asked and I blushed furiously. "Nice try Casanova, what took you so long?" " I was getting you these," he pulled out the flowers from behind his back and went down on one knee. I didn't know what to say. I just sat there. Tears threatened to flood my eyes. "Samantha Summers, you are the most; beautiful, intelligent, sweet, caring and funniest girl I've ever met. From the first day I saw you I made an oath to myself to not stop till I make you mine. I love: how you scrunch your nose when you lie, how you put a couple of strands behind your ear when you're nervous, how your eyes glitter when you are happy, how you look effortlessly stunning, how you wear your hair straight just because you think curling it will get you too much attention. I really like you, I know we haven't really gotten to know each other that well, but I am willing to learn all about you. I'll accept all your flaws and be with you through the ups and downs. I am aware I might not deserve you but it would mean a lot if you'd have me. I won't ever let you down. Samantha, will you be my girlfriend?" At this point I was crying. That was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. How lucky could I be? The hottest boy in both our school and neighborhood was asking me to be his girlfriend.

"Hey, why are you crying, did I say something wrong?" he got up and sat next to me gently stroking my cheeks "no" I said in a husky after-cry voice. "I knew it, you like that new Smith guy? I should've known, with his designer clothes, dimples and smug self, wait till I-" I palmed his cheeks and kissed him ever so gently. He kissed me back, wrapping his hands around my waist and pulling me onto his lap and closer to his chest. I pulled away and rested my forehead against his,my eyes still closed. "What I meant was,no,you didn't say anything wrong. I'd love to be your girlfriend. I like you so much too," I slowly opened my eyes to see him grinning back at me. He shot up and spun me around talking of how I'd made him the happiest man alive. "You know, this means I get to call you babe now and brace yourself cause I'm a sucker for PDA" I swatted his shoulder as he carefully put me down smiling oh-so sheepishly "okay" I said smiling back. I couldn't wait to call Barb then Cass, to tell them the good news. I hugged him goodbye after sharing a kiss with him.

End of flashback

I traced my finger along my bottom lip,breaking into a smile as I curled my hair. Yes. I sometimes curl it after Jay. I feel the need to alter the things he liked about me. In a silly way it helps me move on. Yeap. I'm still moving on. "Good morning sunshine," I turned to see Hailey wrapped in a towel, drying her hair with another. "Good morning yourself," I said, smiling and taking my bag and walking towards the door. "I'll see you around, maybe in the evening, I have classes all day and another date with Alex.” "Three in a week huh?he asked you yet.” " No,not yet,I was just thinking about it.” "Don't worry, he will, I see the way he looks at you.” " Thank you girl, see you.” With that I hurried off to class. I had a presentation to give.

The others presented and the lecturer was more than proud of his class and after my presentation he just stared at me. It was like waiting for a moment of truth in a family drama filled movie. " Samantha Summers, right?" I nodded and he looked at the class. "Can her partner join her at the front of the class please?" Stevie shyly walked to the front of the class and I could see her tense so I held her hand and nodded at her when she looked at me and she responded with a shy smile. We looked at the lecturer and he studied us for some time, then he smiled and looked at the class.

"You all did exceptionally well and I am proud. Although, these too are the ones who will be getting an A. Having exhausted every aspect of the disorder I assigned them. Girls, good job! Applaud them.” They all clapped and I could feel my cheeks redden. The bell rang and we were dismissed. The day went on slowly and after all my classes were over I went to my room to get ready for my date.

I chose to wear my silky black dress and black high heeled boots with silver earnings, necklace and bracelet. I gave myself a once over before grabbing my purse and stuffing all I could need. Now, to wait for my Charming to get here. I heard someone knock after I waited for about 20 minutes. I took my purse and walked over to the door and flung it open. " Hey, I've been waiting for you for ab-'' my voice got hitched when I turned my head from the room to the person standing at my door.
