The ineffable feeling

" I don't understand. According to what you're telling me it seems like he did have feelings for you. Are you sure he didn't like you that way? "-he asked She chuckles lightly recalling her past memories. At first she thought that too. She thought, for once in her life her feelings were being returned. She thought he was genuinely interested in her. She thought , she loved him.... But she was wrong about all the things. Neither did she love him nor he returned her feelings. That's right, She didn't love him in the first place. " When someone saves you from drowning, it's not necessarily out of love.. 6. Opening up

Nobody knew whether the sun had risen from the West, was air suddenly opaque , were dinosaurs still alive or Kritika had really woken up at 6 in the morning and surprisingly cheerful on top of that. Her mom for a minute thought she was hallucinating, whereas her father was happy that she was back to her cheerful self again. Even though he didn't talk much he had his ways of showing his affection ruffling her hair being one of them.

She giggled as her dad ruffled her hair as if she were a four year old who was being praised. Speaking less is something that she had got from her father. Verbally she spoke unless it was something interesting it wasn't quiet same while texting. While texting she could be the most talkative person you know.

She sat observing every move her father made as he did his morning prayers. This was something that she used to do when she was younger. This was his usual routine waking up early in the morning, getting ready for his day and praying before leaving the house. He didn't really say much about her observing him but the amusement and adoring look in his eyes was self explanatory . They didn't talk much but enjoyed each other's presence nonetheless.

It seems like her mom being suspicious alone wasn't weird enough for her brother Varun soon joined. As soon as her father left the house she was being interrogated by the Mom and son duo. Where her mom enquired if something happened to make her happy Varun on the other hand asked if she hit her head somewhere. She laughed and ran away from the chaos to her room.

Varun was more like her mom whereas Kritika and her dad were very similar. Both mom and son duo were overly dramatic, weird, funny and over all fun to be around. Kritika and her dad were more on the calmer side, they preferred being logical than emotional, but sometimes they could be a little bit workaholic and come out as emotionless.

" Imagine waking up one day in a different universe that's so similar yet so different from your universe " as soon as she said that her eyes widened , a gasp left her mouth as if she had a light bulb moment.

" No wonder sometimes it feels like I'm different from what they describe me. I must have accidentally exchanged universe. Woah !! "

He laughed a loud hearing her theory. These past days she has been sharing her weirdly interesting facts and theories with him. And to say he was shocked would be an understatement, he never would have thought the girl he met a month ago would be talking to him about surprising physics facts and many other things .

" No just think about it. It could be true. There's a universe for every possibility. Wait a minute I could be in jail in a universe too!? What the heck ."

" I highly doubt that " he managed to speak . She scoffed at that.

" There's a possibility. There were and are times when I wish I could kill . Maybe I complied in one of the universe and got arrested. 🤷‍♀️"

" Should I be scared? " he asked playfully as he thought the answer was a clear No. Well he thought.

" I don't know . Maybe in future. Depends on how much homework you give me " she teased.

" I'm hurt. How could you do that? After all I've done. You'd still think about that. Tsk tsk tsk. " he acted disappointed. Seeing him act childish was always funny. Most of the time he acted like a overgrown baby around her.

" Are you sure you're 19? I've never met such a dramatic adult before 😂" except her mom, she had never seen someone as dramatic as him. Maybe it was the reason Gaurav and her mom got along well.

Now that made him scoff. He sure did acted younger than his age but never really liked being confronted about that.

" Excuse me missy I'm older than you. You should respect me " he demanded. Even though he acted silly with her he insisted on being treated like an adult .

" You being older doesn't obligate me to respect you. Respect is earned not given. " she replied. It was something she had always believed. Respect and trust are meant to be earned. Both once lost are hard to revive.

He couldn't deny the fact that it was true. He can't just walk in and demand her to respect him. He had to show exactly why he should be respected.

They had gotten more comfortable compared to the first week. She was opening up to him and he did the same. She now looked forward to meeting him to share all her discoveries and facts. He was an intent listener and often understood the things she told him and she liked that.
