Beta James looked down at the cute and innocent little person before him. He still found it odd for a beastman to stay in their pack, not to talk of the fact that the kid did not look that dangerous.

As if sensing his beta's thoughts, the Alpha turned to him with a serious look on his.

"Do not underestimate him because he is young. He is a beastman, that's enough reason to make you not get any stupid ideas." the beta looked at his alpha with a now also serious face, how could he forget. how dumb of him.

Beastman are born in there beast forms and were already hunters at the start. unlike werefolk who had to wait to mature to find out where they were on the food chain. He should not have judged the boy based on his look just now.

"Am sorry Alpha." James apologized for his blander.

Alpha Raven took a deep breath and turned to the child, this was going to be anything but pleasant.

"Let's go Ruben, your aunt is waiting for us. I wouldn't want her to think anything happened to you." the alpha said as they began the walk.

The betas were left standing there, one to continue to training and the other to go back to what she was doing but.

"my love, who was that kid and why does the alpha look like that."

James looked at his mates curious look and couldn't help but tease her.

"A kiss for information." he said, bringing his lips towards her.

'Really? At a time like this?'

Hannah shook her head at her mates antics and gave a kiss.

"just one?" beta James said to his mate while attempting to act cute. Which only caused her to laugh and some of the trainees to stanble.

'can he not do that here?' some of them thought with redding and /cringeing faces at their betas play with his mate.

Beta James noticed that they had mostly stopped training and growled at them promoting them to get back to their training.

" Stop it my love, be serious with me now and you can get all the kisses you want and more when we get home."

Hannah said as she circled her arms around her mate, 'he could really pick a place sometimes' .

With his mates promise, beta James put on a serious face.

It happens that among the strongest beastfolk clans* a new king is chosen ever ten years in a strength tournament where the strongest beastman becames king. It is done for all the beast territories at once or when a beast king dies. By tradition, the ruling king can participate and if wins, continue his rule. But things can get really nasty in a fight for power as some will do anything to win including harming the family of the ruling king. Especially on the day of the the last deciding match of the tournament, because 'he' is no 'king' that day until he wins the final match to reclaim his throne.

The king before the current one got done in by his enemies by this loop hole day. If a ruling kings family is attacked by rules of the beastfolk the people must protect them, but on that one day, that does not mean anything.

This mate and children were killed in other to weaken him through there bond so he would lose the final match. The king knew who was responsible for it the moment he felt the bond braking, for there was only his two brothers and the now king left in the final match. With a strength fueled by rage and hatred he fought his his brothers who had used dark arts on their bodies along said the now king who felt angry at what those two had done. The old king brunt his life force and killed his brothers having Ivan, the new king by him being the last alive to finish his brother's remaining accomplises.

Ivan is a good man and king, he lost his mate when their son was born, he could not lose his son too now.

Which brings us to why the kid was now at the pack of werefolk that beastmen don't usually have contact with and think of as weak.

"king Ivan of the wolf beastmen clan wants our pack to babysit his son until after the tournament. He's not giving us much of a choice here"

Hannah turned a little pale at her mates words. There pack was strong among werewolf packs but against beastfolk they were not worth mentioning.
