At some point, Livana had fallen asleep on Kaeleb's back but she stirred in her sleep as she felt a change in motion. She slowly opened her eyes and raised her head up to look around herself. She furrowed her brows. Kaeleb placed her back on the ground and she looked down when her feet didn't seem to touch soil and branches. The ground was covered in grey-white ashes.
She looked back up in awe. It was breathtaking. Ashes were falling all around her and it almost looked like snow. The orange rays of the sun setting were reflecting on them and making them look orange too, as if they were on fire. The trees were black and naked, as if they had been burnt and they were dead but it didn't smell like there had been a fire here. There was a beauty to this place that she couldn't explain.
"It's the ash forest," Kaeleb said from behind her and she turned around to look at him.
