A new life

Natasha left her room curious and impatient. When she found out about the blood, she put on a gown. The first place she visited was her daughter's room because George seemed to like her daughter and might be in her room.

However, he wasn't in the little girl's room and Rebecca's Nanny was in her room preparing her for nursery class.

Natasha had to greet her daughter first, kiss her all around, and play with her before asking Nanny G if she had seen her husband.

Nanny G wasn't aware of Mr King's departure so Natasha decided to ask the maid in the house.

She went straight to the kitchen and at the same time looked around to see if she might find the man she was looking for.

The thought of calling George didn't come to her mind. She assumed that the maid would know better.

Yvonne was one of Natasha's favorite maids in the house apart from Nanny G who took care of her daughter.

"Good morning, Madam," they all chorused in the kitchen. There were like five maids in the kitchen cooking and preparing their Madam's morning coffee.

Natasha gave them a nod and asked if they had seen her husband this morning.

"Mr King left the house around six and he was strangely in a rush as if he needed to do something so urgently," Yvonne was the one who explained to her Madam.

It was at this moment Natasha thought about calling George. She didn't understand why he would leave the house so early in the morning without leaving her a message and was also in a hurry.

Natasha returned to her room and began to search for her phone. She wouldn't have bothered much about George but the blood she saw in the bathroom was disturbing and she wanted to know what it was about.

After her experience and how her life had been, especially in her childhood, she knew well not to take things lightly and assume that it was just a small case.

And when she found her phone after three minutes of searching, she dialed George's phone number.

Unfortunately, she couldn't reach him because his phone number was switched off.

"Fuck!" Natasha cried, gripping her phone tightly in anger and dissatisfaction. She wanted to know what the blood was about and it bothered her even more because she didn't know who George was. She only knew about his life but not his personality or how he lived his life.

Natasha raked her fingers through her hair, thoughts roaming in her head. 'Did he ditch me?' she thought again.

She soon went to sit on the bed, still thinking about why George would leave her. She couldn't hire another man for a marriage.

It would appear stupid to everyone and her ex-husband would definitely feel victorious over her and she definitely didn't want that., .,.,. .

Where are you, George? Please don't put me to shame!

She turned to look at where he would have laid down if he had slept beside her. "Bastard!" She hit the bed fiercely until she became exhausted.

"Why do I have to be so unlucky?" She almost yelled but instead, she said with gritted teeth and bit the skin inside her mouth.

Natasha was still looking at George's supposed-to-be side of the bed and she did that for too long until she noticed something which she could see through the side of her eyes.

"A sheet of…that bastard!" Natasha stretched her body to get the sheet of paper by the side of the bed. It was placed on the table.

"He…left a letter! Is this goodbye?" Natasha said to herself.

But she went through the letter and realized that he left her to handle some business and wouldn't be back in the next two weeks.

He went on apologizing. To cut it short the whole message would have been about him apologizing if he didn't state that he left and had a business to attend.

Natasha grabbed her phone again and called him. This time, his contact was reachable.

"Wifey," she heard but he sounded so sick.

"Fool," Natasha responded.

"Wifey," he continued.

"What's with the blood?"

After her question, George stayed quiet for a while because he didn't know how to explain to her the reason there was blood. He didn't have the chance to clean up properly because he was in a hurry.

"Did you hurt yourself, you careless…" She couldn't complete her statement because she heard him laughing.

George couldn't see her expression but she was frowning so badly.

"You care about me now?" He asked.

"I should because you are my husband! I employed you and why did you leave without my consent?!"

"Wifey, don't shout at your innocent husband," he sounded really sick but judging from his tone and sleepy eyes, Natasha found it normal but she was still curious about it

He received silence as a response. "I hurt myself and I'm at the hospital now for stitches. Don't worry, I'm fine."

"You are a grown man, you should be able to take care of yourself. But be careful next time! Why are you spending two weeks away?"

"Wifey, it's none of your business. Take care of my daughter. I'll be back soon."

George hung up the call and switched his phone off again. He was truly at the hospital, not because he had cuts but because he had to be operated on.

George is terribly sick and when Natasha came with an offer, he couldn't reject it because he could use the money to settle his medical bills.

He is suffering from leukemia cancer and because he couldn't raise the money, the sickness worsen with time. The doctors couldn't guarantee that the surgery would cure the sickness completely as there was a chance the leukemia might return and there was also a chance of it not coming back.

But George was ready to give it a try. He wanted to live. He had spent his life with the wrong people who ruined him and he wanted to save himself.

He wanted to live a different life and be happy with his future wife and children and as he closed his eyes after the Doctor injected him, he saw himself living the life he wanted.

A life where he would return home from work to be surrounded by his family.

But what if things don't go the way he wished? What if he never recover?
