By The Hands of Ancestors - Part 3

After going back and forth with exchaning a bit of sword technique with Vazmarx, he spent some time relaxing, feeling like he really needed it. Vazmarx was quick to take his leave to spend his time the gods know what.

Samuel realized he had to go check out how his faction was doing, now that the papers had all gone through and whatnot, the faction was now official and Samuel did not fully enjoy being put as a leader for a faction. But he would take responsibility nevertheless.

"You are just being silly!" Night exclaimed from within his shadow. Samuel couldn't help but laugh at her. "Yeah, I think you might be right!" He spoke out loud as he finally arrived at a smaller mansion like building.

Each faction was given a smaller mansion where they could reside, which they were free to use for whatever activites they might require. Samuel approached the small opening and could openly walk in as no one would really bother watching the grounds.

"It's not like we are at war or anything, if anyone wants to spy then let them spy I guess!" Samuel laughed. "Yeah yeah, I guess this is good for your overly paranoid nature!" Night laughed with him, although he rolled his eyes and let his laugh become a sarcastic one.

"Who says I'm paranoid huh?" He retorted and Night giggled, "I am... duh!" She continued giggling until they reached the front porch where some second years were seated and chatting away.

Samuel simply avoided eye contact and gave a general nod in their direction, only being stopped by the sudden voice going "Where do you think you're going?" By one of the halflings seated a top a barrel.

Samuel stopped in his tracks and pointed casually toward the building. "Inside!" He replied in a monotone voice making the halfling laugh. She looked like a child, but that was only because of the young looking face on the small child like body.

Red short hair and freckles in a million places, green eyes that were as fierce as a halfling could be according to their nature. Most people said that halflings came in two ways, the more common laidback folk or the fierce fighting spirited ones.

"To go inside you haveto be a member!" She said and tapped a small pin she was wearing. Samuel smiled and decided he had an epiphany. "Ahhh I see! I am so sorry I didn't know! So where can I sign up?" His sudden change in nature seemed to tick off the halfling.

The other students sitting outside all started laughing and the halfling jumped off the barrel and shouted to the others to shut up. "If you want to sign up you need to go speak to one of the recruiters!" She looked at Samuels clothing that identified him as a third year. "You probably already know that though!"

Samuel followed her eyes and looked at his clothing and then at her and shrugged. "So are you also a new member?" He asked innocently and the halfling nodded proudly. "I happen to be a reccomendation, I am new but I am also skilled at what I do!" She gloated and gave him a proper grin.

"I see!" Samuel slowly nodded and massaged his own face, "So what exactly is it that you do?" His question made all the other students start laughing again. One of them turned and spoke, "You're just getting trampled huh? Good going Nisky!" He spoke to the halfling that became extremely flushed and beet red.

She quickly made her way down the porch and took Samuel by the hand. "Come with me and I will let you talk to a recruiter alright!" Her posture was awkward and she seemed quite flustered but Samuel saw no reason to directly apologize.

Until they made their way outside earshot range of the others he held his toung and when they finally did he couldn't help but ask. "So why are you letting those guys trample all over you then?" His question made the halfling stop in her tracks even though she didn't let go of his hand.

"Cause it ent easeh bein a half size folk!" She spoke with a sigh and switched back to her own dialect. "Sorry for bein rude, you are a year older than me and everything!" She finally said as she seemed to finally calm down a bit. Realizing she was still holding onto his hand she hastily let go.

Samuel crouched down so his face was at the same level as hers. "If those guys mess with you then just talk to me and I will deal with them alright? I don't think this kind of thing will be very welcome in this faction!"

Nisky stopped up and giggled at him. "I appreciate the concern, but I don't think you will be able to do much to help me, not that they are terrible people! But they like to mess around a bit too much for my liking!" She shrugged and looked at a door that opened.

"Oooh! Big sister Tyva! I got a new recruit wanting to join!" Nisky quickly took a few steps forward with a smile. Tyva stopped up with a smile and looked at Samuel whom Nisky was pointing at, her smile froze and she stared at Samuel for a few moments and then turned to stare at Nisky for a while.

"Is something wrong?" Nisky worriedly asked and her smile slowly faded when she saw Tyva's concerned expression. Before long Tyva started chuckling and patted Nisky on the shoulder and shook her head.

"Good job Nisky! Not many of us can bring him around... perhaps I should assign this task to you!" Tyva's voice was sincere and her smile was nothing more than prideful as she turned to Samuel and gave him a small curtsy. "It is good to see you leader!"

Samuel bowed his head at her. "Thank you for your continued good work!" He replied and smiled. Tyva held the door open for him and he walked inside and turned around to see Nisky standing still with a frozen expression and pose.

She looked like her life was over, so Samuel walked over and quickly took her by the hand and pulled her with him inside, it was enough to make her snap out of her stupor and she looked up at Samuel with sparkling eyes.

Samuel turned and gave her a smile, "Are you alright?" He let go of her hand now that she snapped out of it and she quickly nodded. Together they walked all the way to the main office of the building, which was designated as his office.

As they entered the room Samuel was quick to walk around the desk and take a seat, Tyva took a few folders and placed them on the table. "These need to be run through!" She turned to Nisky. "Seeing how good of a job you did, you will stay here and help out Samuel with whatever he needs, make sure he stays focused on the job!" She said with a wry smile and exited the room before Samuels squinting became too much to bear.

"Well you heard the lady! Apparently your job is too keep an eye on me... so you better do a good job!" Samuel chuckled and started opening the first folder. New recruits, and resource management, all things were already run through by Vuloc, but they still needed a final check and approval from Samuel before they could go through.

Nisky slowly took her hands together and spoke in a squeaky voice, "So you are not going to get rid of me for being disrespectful?" To which Samuel looked up in sudden surprise and shrugged, "Why would I do that? That would just be stupid!"

"I won't get rid of people for not knowing things, although I want a strict word with people who trample over others in my faction... but you did nothing wrong by me - not entirely at least!" Samuel leaned back in the chair with a satisfied smile. "Perhaps lay back the attitude in general towards new people... thats all I have seen so far, but until I get to know you better there is not much else I can say!"

His reasoning and answers left Nisky stumped and she silently nodded. Samuel spent the next few hours working through all the faction building papers and approvals needed. Nisky did her best to help and keep him on his toes whenever he became distracted.

The day came to a close with Nisky sleeping in a chair and Samuel placed a blanket over her so she wouldn't catch a cold. It was quite a nice sofa chair so he didn't feel bad about leaving her there. "Well that was a hard days work!" He sighed and Night yawned.

"What do you mean? I have slept great!" She mocked him. "You're a real piece of work!" He scoffed. Night of course laughed loudly at him and started poking at him all the way home. Together they ate a nice dinner prepared by Samuel and just took a calm evening together doing nothing more than relaxing.

The only work Samuel did was maintenance on his masterful golem.
