The group was groaning in pain, huffing and puffing after the battle with the Hellfire Locusts.
Ravan was the only one not gasping for breath, though he clutched his acid-burned arm.
He felt a pang of guilt; he hadn't fought alongside them, yet they had risked their lives for him, strangers as they were.
Enya, with her black-purple hair now tousled and a few streaks of dirt and blood on her yellow eyes and curvy body, clapped Ravan on the shoulder.
"Hey, don't look so down. It was your quick thinking that saved us. Without your strategy and pointing out the weaknesses, we'd be bug food by now."
Ravan looked up at Enya, gratitude and a mix of emotions swirling in his eyes.
"Thanks, Enya. I just... I just wish I could have done more."
She smiled, though it was a weary one.
"You've done plenty. We all play our parts. Now let's keep moving. We can't afford to stay here any longer."
The group, still panting and nursing their wounds, gathered themselves and began to venture deeper into the dungeon.
The path ahead was dark and uncertain, but for the first time, Ravan felt a glimmer of hope.
They might just survive this after all.
The group, huffing and puffing, began their journey deeper into the dungeon.
Enya, taking charge, urged them to keep moving.
"We have no time to waste. We need to conquer the first floor and reach the second as quickly as possible."
They ventured further into the darkness, the only light coming from the elemental weapons wielded by the awakened members of the group.
The silence was oppressive, broken only by the occasional drip of water from the cave ceiling and the distant echoes of their footsteps.
Suddenly, a screech pierced the air. Kyle, holding his daggers, looked back and cursed, "Not another horde of bitchy locusts! We just fought a bunch of them a while back!"
Ravan knew immediately that this screech was different.
'That doesn't sound like the locusts.'
It had a lower pitch, more resonant. He was about to warn the group when the ground exploded, and a massive creature emerged.
It was bigger than the locusts they had faced, nearly five times larger, with countless legs skittering beneath its elongated body.
The monstrous centipede that emerged from the ground was a terrifying sight to behold. Its body stretched nearly fifty feet in length, its segments undulating like a living wave of armor.
Each segment was covered in hardened, chitinous plates that gleamed dully in the faint light.
The plates were jagged and uneven, resembling the rocky outcrops of a barren wasteland.
Along its spine ran a row of sharp, spike-like protrusions, giving it an even more menacing appearance.
Its head was the stuff of nightmares. Four massive mandibles, each as long as a man's arm and razor-sharp, jutted out from its mouth.
They clacked together with a sickening crunch, dripping with a viscous, greenish fluid that Ravan instinctively knew was acidic.
The centipede's eyes, small and beady, glowed with a malevolent red light, scanning the cavern for its prey.
The creature's legs were numerous and spindly, each tipped with a hooked claw that allowed it to grip the rocky surfaces with ease.
As it moved, the legs created a cacophony of clicking and scraping sounds that echoed through the cave, amplifying the terror it inspired.
The centipede's body was marked with strange, glowing runes that pulsed with an eerie, bluish light.
These runes seemed to ripple across its segmented body, casting an otherworldly glow in the dark cavern.
The entire creature exuded an aura of primal fear, its very presence enough to make the bravest of warriors hesitate.
Hovering over the group, the centipede's long, segmented body created a menacing shadow that stretched across the cave floor. Its many legs moved in a coordinated, almost hypnotic rhythm, propelling it forward with a relentless drive.
The scent of decay and acid wafted from its body, mingling with the cold, damp air of the dungeon.
"There's no time to fight," Enya shouted, sensing the group's fatigue.
"We need to run. Now!"
Brutus clenched his fists, wanting to fight, but Enya's command overruled his instincts.
They all turned and fled, the centipede's monstrous form chasing them, its legs creating a terrifying clattering sound against the cave floor.
Ravan, despite his training at the blacksmith department, quickly realized the disparity between his endurance and that of the awakened.
He fell further and further behind, his breaths growing heavier, his energy depleting.
But he knew he couldn't afford to stop. The adrenaline pushed him forward, his fear of death driving him onward.
As he stumbled, the centipede burrowed into the ground and then shot up again, creating a crater.
Ravan fell into it, hitting his head hard against the stone. He groaned in pain, clutching his injured arm.
He hoped, prayed, that the group would notice his absence and come back for him.
To his dismay, he saw some group members at the edge of the crater. Kael leaned down, extending his arm.
Relief washed over Ravan as he reached out.
But then, Kael's expression twisted into a cruel smile. With a swift motion, he cut off Ravan's left hand.
Ravan screamed in agony, falling back into the crater, his cries echoing through the cave. The pain from the fall couldn't be compared to the agonising pain in his arm that now had his hand cut off as he cried and sweat at the same time.
Kael spat on him, his eyes cold.
"Fucking pisser, you acted like a fucking boss, giving orders while we fought the locusts.
But out of all of us, you're the weakest. You reek of monster blood and the acid from the male locust. You'll attract more monsters and put us all in danger. I'm doing everyone a favor."
Ravan groaned in more pain, his screams echoed through the walls and bouncing back almost busting open Kael's and the others ear drums.
"Shut up, you worthless piece of shit," Serene added, glaring down at Ravan.
"You've been nothing but dead weight since we started."
Darius, his sword clenched, said nothing but his silence was more damning than any words. And with that they left right after Kael saying, "Your weak ass is better off dead, see it as a favour from me to you for your worthless life."
"Trust me your better off this way," he added before they left.
"Favour my ass..."Ravan began before shouting his heart out almost running out of breath and ripping apart his throat.
"....SCREW YOU ALL!!"
Ravan, still screaming in pain, tried to stop the bleeding by shoving his hand into the dirt.
The centipede shot up from the ground, its monstrous form looming over him.
It attacked, its sharp mandibles tearing into his flesh.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH..."
Ravan's screams were a mix of agony and despair filled with tears as the creature ripped his limbs apart.
As the centipede continued its gruesome feast, Ravan shouted to himself, cursing his life.
"Fuck! I'm so fucking weak… they were right. I'll be the death of them all."
The pain was unbearable. He could feel his life slipping away, his body growing cold.
"If things had turned out differently… I wouldn't just kill the monsters. I'd kill them.
They're worse than the monsters."
"Humans have always been, their facade far worse..."
His consciousness began to fade. The last thing he felt was a burning desire for vengeance, a wish to make those who betrayed him suffer.
As he drifted into the darkness, he vowed that if he ever had the chance, he would make them regret their actions, make them endure more pain than he had.
As Ravan was slowly drifting off, a strange, robotic voice echoed in his mind, startling him from the edge of unconsciousness.
[Potential host been found]
[Initializing body checkup]
Ravan's vision blurred as the voice continued its cold, clinical assessment.
[Checkup in progress]
[Vital signs: critical]
[Major blood loss detected]
[Severe trauma to extremities]
[Multiple fractures and internal bleeding confirmed!]
Ravan could barely comprehend the words, his mind foggy with pain and exhaustion.
[Host will die in the next 5 seconds!]
In those fleeting moments, Ravan's thoughts barely registered the strange voice.
With a bitter chuckle, he muttered, "What a load of crap..."
Finally the System is here!!
That took longer than I had thought...
Thank You for your patience :)
