Dumo ruin

In a hot wasteland, a vehicle can be seen running through the rough landscape. It's a dark brown truck that carries kids in poor condition. Some of them miss their legs or arm and all of them look malnourished. They have been starving.

"Look, we can see the ruins!"

One kid shouts in excitement while the others sulk. They have a fear that can be seen on their face. The building that comes into view is a tall building that extends beyond the sky with the rubble of other buildings surrounding it.

This is the Dumo ruin at the center of it is a Dumo tower. Traces of a long-lost civilization that rule the planet a long time ago. Some incidents in the past only left the civilization in a shadow of its former glory.

"Just shut up! Not everyone is excited to go there."

A big kid shouts back at the sight of the excited kid. He has been to this place before but had no good memory of it.

"Just be quiet like this guy. Getting rowdy is the fastest ticket to get kicked out of this car."

The big kid says while pointing at one of the smaller kids in the group. He is in the worse shape despite having all four limbs intact. To lift his mood, the big kid walks to the one that's in terrible shape and gives him a hard hug on the shoulder, clearly being hostile.

"ow!"

Normally, this amount of force wouldn't hurt anyone at all, but due to being in awful shape, the weak kid got hurt terribly. His shoulder is moving. It's a miracle that he's still alive in this condition.

"This guy here is a massive coward, you see. We have to bring him here to work for us."

The excited kid's mood worsens. He doesn't seem to like how the big kid is treating the one that's in a terrible shape. The big kid saying is not entirely wrong either. Some of the big kid's words are correct when you look at the kids.

"You shouldn't treat your friend like that."

"Why? It's not like you know him either, right?"

"well..."

"He was punished for getting into a fight with another kid."

The big kid punches the bad-conditioned kid in the stomach, letting out a big smile as he sees the condition of his plaything getting worse. The fight he's talking about doesn't seem to be started by the weak boy.

"Hey stop it!"

"Haha, what are you gonna do about it?"

Their eyes met. The conversation is about to end with violence, but as they are about to fight….

"Just shut up, you damn annoying kids! we're about to enter the ruin. If one of you god damn slum kid, make a sound, I'm gonna cut your pay! Good grief, this is why they don't bring a lot of kids with them."

He mutters the last sentence to himself while driving. All the commotion stops as the vehicle is about to approach its destination. The crumbling building that the kid saw was beside them now. They made most of the building walls out of white material. The fences and roof are another color.

Some buildings are in a good shape while some others crumble beyond recognition. As the vehicle goes deeper into the ruins, the building keeps more of its original shape, signifying that this is the area where richer people lived.

This guy driving the Truck is a hunter by the name of Ezmo. He's escorting the kids. Helping them extract relics of the old world that were left behind by other hunters because of their cheap price. They can make it profitable because of the quantity of the relic and the price they have to pay for these kids. There are about 7 kids in the back of this truck. These boys and girls are just slum kids trying to live in this world, so they only have to pay around 14 cheap nutrients pack for the offer to be enticing enough to the kids.

The people of the old world left behind relics. It can be anything from a toy for kids to advanced technology that this era can't catch up to. Even if it's just a poker card, it can fetch quite a good price if sold to the right people. Usually, rich people would buy these luxuries just to show off or they can extract some technological value from them.

The truck stops in front of the tall building at the center of the ruins.

"Get out and get ready. We're about to extract some relics! If you're too slow, I'll cut the pay!"

Ezmo got out of the car and start calling the kids. He also woke up his hunter friend on the assistant seat.

Ezmo is a hunter that doesn't do a dangerous job. Because of this, he isn't very wealthy, so if he can find any excuse to cut the pay, he will do it. But he won't cut the pay without reason. He had a deal with a gang to escort this group. It would sore his relationship if he ran with the money.

He can just find a random reason for more money. He could even make it up, but his morals won't allow it. It's rare to find this kind of moral in the wasteland, so his reputation is rather positive in the lower hunter community.

"Get your sack and start working now. It'll be a nightmare if we have to travel at night!"

"But is this place safe?"

One kid asks worryingly. It isn't his first time doing this kind of job, but he often works elsewhere.

"This Dumo tower ruin is completely safe the first and second-floor security is broken. The A.I. manager of the floor doesn't seem to have the permission to fix it I don't know why either it's so stupid from a design standpoint but anyway it's safe. Get to work or I'll cut for pay!"

The kid grabs their sack in a hurry and heads into the tower. Some of them are amazed by how big the tower is. The Dumo tower is a gigantic structure built high in the sky to where some speculate that it extends to outer space. Its tube-like structure of it has a diameter of around 500 meters to 1 kilometer. That's just a rough estimation.

How they build such a structure is a wonder. A weak kid thinks that if he was born in that time his life would be better. He quickly scratches that idea because if he lives in that time he likely would have been dead by now seeing from all the surrounding ruin.
