Death

Velo woke up from a long slumber. He can still feel the pain in his body slowly leaving. The glass door of his pill pod opens letting out white mist from the procedure. Velo's mind is still hazy from the pain he went through.

"Chronus has been successfully the subject have compatibility of 98% putting him at rank 1 Subject and elevate your status from homeless to rank 9 Citizen. May I have your name for the registration process?"

"Velo...."

Velo, still hazy from the incident, answered without thinking.

"Registering... Unable to connect to the Global network... Sorry, we'll have to register you in our local network until Global one comes online you can check your identification via your wristband terminal. Congratulation on being a citizen of this city! Show your ID if you ever visit another city, otherwise, the A.I. manager will still categorize you as homeless."

After the A.I. has done explaining, a square box popped up in the air. The blue box shows a rough detail of Velo. He jumps back the moment a blue box pop up. After he was sure that it didn't do anything, he peek at it.

Name: Velo

Gender: male

Hight: 122

weight: 32

Citizen rank: 9 (REDACTED Subject rank:1 )

Occupation: Dumo technician

Blood type: Unable to identify

Unnatural ability: N/A

BIO: A boy who grew up in a poor upbringing gets a lucky chance to work at Dumo tower due to his outstanding ability.

He grasps not because of the information, but because he can understand the language. Velo, guess that it must be from that procedure he takes. Just thinking about it makes him mad.

"You told me that the thing is safe!!!!"

"We gave our utmost apology. Due to your unique body, we have to adjust the setting widely."

"I'm leaving this place!! Where is the Exit!!"

"In compartment 18 there is an elevator you can take to access this building up to the 7th floor"

"where is the copatpent 18 or whatever it is!?"

"Please follow the line. The elevator has been called from the floor. 9855 it should arrive as soon as you reach your destination. We advise you to check out our facility before you decide to leave."

A blue line appears on the floor leading out of the room. Velo is not interested in what the A.I. says. His anger from the pain clouds his thinking. He wants to leave this place.

Following the line, it leads back to where he fell from. He's confused because there's nothing there. But as he's about to ask the A.I. an object suddenly appears in front of him. It seems to be the elector the A.I. told him about.

The door opens, letting him inside. The elevator is a pure white elevator with a control panel and blue numbers. The highest number is 10,000, and the lowest is 1. Velo is perplexed. He didn't know what to do. He has never seen something like this before.

"If you want to exit this building, please press the number on the control panel."

"I...I know this is easy!"

Velo frustratingly presses 1 on the control panel. The door swiftly shut and the elevator moves. In the next second, the door reopen in the hallway where Velo got chased. The Elevator was so smooth that Velo felt like the room was just teleported.

Velo steps out and carefully looks around. The area is clear of any hostility but he's still scared. Now that he carefully thinks about the situation again it's a dumb move for him to leave the underground. At least there aren't any monsters underground. At least there aren't any monsters there.

Velo, check around carefully. Slowly peak out of the tower. Most of the buildings here are intact. They are around 30 stories tall. each with their own unique flavor to them. Some of them look like a shop while some are offices.

Since the Dumo tower is a gigantic tower. It attracts a lot of people in the past and a bring in a lot of hunters. It has been sucked dry of resources. That's why high-rank hunters don't come here anymore.

The street of this city looks lonely without people living in them. Velo step out of the building sacred. He sticks to a wall and walks around the city slowly. He turns a corner and his eyes are met with a ruin tracker's 4 eyes.

Velo froze. His mind stops thinking. Time slowdown as the ruin tracker's mouth opens to swallow him whole.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

He's in pain again but it doesn't feel like being eaten. He woke up in a familiar white room. The kid stood up from the pill Pod with a confused face.

"What....."

"Welcome back subject Velo"

"Why am I here!?"

"You survive for 15 minutes and 19 seconds. Not bad for your first try. We advise you to take our training course before you go out again for better results."

"That not my question! Why am I still alive!?"

"We have never seen someone so angry about being alive. For your information, you don't have enough..... Permission received. To up it simply. It's because of the Chronus project. It's a project that aims to simulate what would happen with an accuracy of 99.99%. And when you die in that simulation you get sent back here."

"What.... does that even mean?"

"Your intelligent seems a bit lacking"

"Hey!!"

"..... Let's just say that this world is not real. You speak with me here are only just an imitation of the real world."

Velo is stunned. ' Has my life been a lie?' He looks around, feels his skin, and touches the wall. Is this all fake? It felt so real when his skin got slowing chew inside of the ruin tracker's mouth. As if the A.I. can read his mind she says.

"It's has a 99.99% accuracy for a reason. If a basic human can differentiate it. This project would have been a colossal failure."

"Can I turn this off?"

"Yes we can turn it off by getting your consent or we run out of energy"

A blue line shine on a control panel next to a big tube of blue liquid. Velo, look at it. It displays a big 99.99% number along with other information that he doesn't understand. His eyes got mesmerized by the squirming liquid inside the big tube. It's moving around like it's a living thing.

"This tube will deplete every time you die and If you simulate too much of the future it will consume more energy too."

"So basically when I die I get sent back here and that thing got consumed, correct?"

"That's a very simple term but, yes. You can also save some energy by returning yourself through the system. Simply shout "System Restart" and we'll bring you back here. We also recommend you take our basic combat program. Which include a basic gun handle, basic CQC, and basic combat mauver. It will greatly help you survive."

"Is it safe?"

"The training has been certified by the united army. The effectiveness of this training can bring normal people to fight with their police force. There's even a case where we train a cat to handle guns."

The A.I presents the information one by one through his wristband. Velo was impressed but.....

"Is it safe?"

".....yes"

"Why did you delay the answer."

"..."

"Fine! I'll take it but if your training suck I'll take my chance in the wasteland."

"Very well let's move to the facility."
