The Gatelings

{DISCONTINUED} Twenty three years ago, something strange occurred in peoples' normal lives... A phenomenon that is known as 'The Gates' among humanity. They were big, strange and purple doors that appeared absolutely everywhere on Earth, all the way from Asia to Europe to the USA. Modern humanity took these as a threat, of course. Even if they've stayed closed and quiet, humanity's leaders banded together and created something... Something that would protect Earth and its inhabitants from danger. That was TGG, which was short for... The Gate Government. They quickly dispatched armed soldiers to each and every Gate that they knew of, and announced to the public that all was good and well! But, obviously, that was... Just not the case. As The Gates stood there doing nothing for a long while, the soldiers were, at one point, dismissed. Until, they slowly but surely started opening... By they, I mean The Gates. The soldiers were, once again, quickly dispatched to The Gates, with orders to shoot on sight anything and everything that came out of them. And they stuck to said orders, expecting dragons, orcs and goblins to come out of the Gates. And finally, once The Gates had completely opened... Humans came out of them..? ...Uhm... Sorry, what...?

The Arrival

???, ???

??:?? AM.

A simple old man was living his simple life, out in a remote village. He had three children, two boys and one girl, plus a beautiful wife. Well, she used to be, but time didn't stop for anyone, no matter what.

Even though the boys were already off in the big world and also had children of their own, the girl... Well, she just preferred staying at home, all alone.

Well, anyways... One day, the old man started his day as usual, early in the morning. As he was outside, tending to his crops, a sudden thunder could be heard... But no sign of clouds outside!

He looked up and started pondering what was going on, when something caught his eye... A small dot in the sky. Most unusual, to be honest...

As he kept staring and staring, the dot grew bigger, and bigger, and bigger.

And yes, when I said "bigger" three times, I meant it.

In a few seconds, it grew so large that it wasn't just a simple dot in the sky anymore.

The man kept watching, confused. Eventually, it stopped growing, and was now recognizable. To the man, it looked like... A big and, uhm, purple door? In the sky as well? Now, that's freaky...

He slowly backed up, and attempted to go inside. As he touched the door handle, the door from the sky started to slowly open.

The man quickly let out a gasp, and shouted for his wife and daughter.

While the two also came outside, the sky door fully opened. The second it did so, something... No, more like, someone came out of it.

By "came out," I mean it like... He got forcibly thrown out. I mean, extremely forcibly...

Said someone was a boy. A simple boy, who didn't look a day above 18, maybe younger. He had what seemed like white hair, but it was extremely faded. Also, it had what looked like blood on it...? No, now that the man looked closer, the boy was covered in blood from head to toe...

But still, the door was in the air. Pretty far off the ground too.

The boy was falling down at a alarming speed. Surely he wasn't gonna survive that fall...!

As the man thought that, the boy finally hit the ground. A loud Thud! could be heard, followed by the screams of his daughter and wife.

All three ran towards the direction of the boy, and when they got there, a large crater was formed around him. The man reached out to grab him, but when he got close enough, he pulled his hand back, in pain. Because he was electrocuted.

After waiting for a while, he tried again, and this time succeeded. He carried the unconscious boy all the way to his home, and put him in a spare bed.

A little while later, the boy slowly woke up, with one of the worst type of headaches he ever had.

He slowly got up, and put his hand on his head while swearing because of said pain.

"Motherfuckeeer... The fuck's this, man, some type of hangover...?"

After shaking his head a bit, he looked around him. He was in an unfamiliar wooden house, surrounded by weird people.

The boy quickly stood up and took a fighting stance.

"Whoa! Who are... Wait, what the..."

The boy... Quickly stood up?

Okay everyone, roleplay's over. Back to business.

Matt looked down, in shock. And, believe it or not, his leg was back. His right leg, who had been cut off by Jinn, was suddenly... Y'know, chillin'?

Matt sat back down again, still dumbfounded by this.

"What... The fuck..."

The man who was in the room went up to him, and started a conversation.

"Heebo! Kuua bi quiliva, ban?"

"Uh, yeah, I'm fine... Wait, no, no the fuck I'm not!"

So... What the actual fuck did this guy say again...? No, no, more importantly, how'd Matt understand?

"I don't know what the hell this guy said, but I do at the same time... That's fucked, man...", he thought to himself.

Matt looked at the man, and tried something.

"So, like, can you... Understand me at all?"

"Hoh? Kliica nhu jicol."

Matt facepalmed.

"What the fuck do you mean, barely?! Ugh..."

After resting his hand on his leg, he realized something.

"Hey, hey... Where's Jinn? I mean, uh, a tall guy, with an ass for a face?"

The man gave him a puzzled look before responding.

"Hu dan guah. Yuu kuma hilon."

"I... Came alone...? Jesus... Fuck you, Jinn..."

The man realized something, clapped his hands twice and asked with an excited look.

"Ahu! Juu chu akli mi quan?"

"Wha... No, no thanks."

Matt's brain went, once again, into overdrive, and started thinking a million thoughts a minute.

"How'd I end up here... No, no, more like, where am I? Actually, who are these people- Jesus, I've got a billion questions! Shit!"

The man asked again.

"Haa... Juu nan chu akli mi quan, ki?"

"What the hell... No, no man. I'm good. Thanks."

"Uhaa... Ji glon..."

Uh... Anyway, back to Matt's thoughts!

"I need to find someone to explain to me what this place is... This guy won't do though. The last thing I remember is... Right, the Gate. I got sucked in."

Matt's head jolted upwards.

"No! No, no, no, don't tell me! No way I'm in another world right now! My dad's original world?!"

He buried his face in his palms again.

"Shiiit... What the hell is this, an isekai...? Fuck this shit... I wanna go home to Emily..."

The man, who was apparently very fucking persistent, asked once again.

"Juu nan ghu chu akli mi quan! Huu hrice lik... Ca, yhri hoches!"

"Dude, I don't wanna marry your fucking daughter! And no, I don't care if you give me three horses as an offering! For real! Jesus fucking Christ!"

The man looked sad.

"...Jo yuu kni chli qu ni?"

"No, I won't be fucking thinking about it!"

The man went from sad to angry. "How dare he not marry my daughter!", is probably what he was thinking, in his fucked up language.

So, in this anger, the man reached out for his sword on the wall. After all, he used to be a soldier, he could take out some little brat!

The second his hand touched the handle, a bright, yellow looking spear was thrown right next to it.

When he looked back, Matt was holding another, and aiming it.

"Hey, hey. Fuck're you doing? Did ya' think I couldn't reach you there? Back off from the sword."

The man did as ordered, and Matt quickly dispersed the two spears with the snap of his finger.

Matt got up, and checked himself. Apart from his clothes looking like they just came out from a war– because they did,– he was fine. All the wounds were gone, and he got a new leg. But no new pants...

Well, better hope it isn't chilly outside, Matt! Unlucky you!

"Yeah, like hell I'm going out like this..."

Whoa, did he read that or something...? Don't go breaking the fourth wall, dude... Seriously...

Matt, with the "permission" of the man, got himself some new clothes and washed his hair a bit.

Obviously, the man did that out of his pure kindness. Nothing else. Nothing long and yellow. And pointy. Nope nopey, no sir.

"Well, I ain't winning any prizes anytime soon, but I don't look that bad... Maybe..."

Yes, the fuck you do... Anyways!

Matt walked outside, and looked up. To his surprise, it wasn't similar to what he was used to.

He saw the usual sun, but also a few... Planets? I mean, they looked small, but definitely planets... Think like how we see the moon.

"Goddamn, I guess..."

And so, Matt set off. No destination, no directions, nothing.

What he needed now was information. Lots.

But uh... How do you get information when you don't even speak the language of the people here?

I mean, he technically does, but not really? He understands them, but they don't really understand him. That's a no-no.

And so, he had his first goal in mind. Learn as much of this language as possible! To the library it is!

Actually, uhm... Where's that again...?

???, ???.

A few hours later.

Matt gasped for air, and held his knees, like a father in his forties after playing football with his son for a few minutes.

"Fuckin' found it..."

He did it... His hardest challenge yet... Finding the goddamn library! Holy shit! Finally!

He walked in, all proud, and went right past the lady at the front desk. He has zero interest about her, or the 100 Nikle fee he's supposed to pay to enter the library! Fuck her, fuck everything! He deserved to read these books!

Ah, as an explanation, Nikles are the currency around here. Matt had no idea how much it was worth in dollars.

Whatever! Back to the books, and the endless information! Oh sweet, sweet information!

He picked one randomly, opened it to the first page, took a big breath, and...

And... Uhh...

"God fucking damn it!!"

He threw the book on the floor, hard, and fell to his knees.

"I can't read this fucking language!!"

I mean, it was to be expected... It's a goddamn miracle as to how he can even understand it, so...

"Fine! Fine for fuck's sake, I don't need this language! I need... I need to find that asshole! I gotta find Jinn!"

"Dude, no screaming in the library."

"Not now, I'm fucking...! Wait, English?!"

He turned around, and saw a short guy with blond long hair standing behind him. Like, very short. He had a sword on his hip.

"How... How can you speak English?"

"What's that...? I'm just using {Convey} to talk to you."

"Uh... Con-what?"

The lil' guy sighed.

"{Convey}. It's a skill that allows someone to talk to foreigners. You're... You're one, right?"

"Well... Kinda. But uh, what's a skill?"

"Wow, are you from Yuuda or something? I heard that they had no skills there... Didn't think it was true."

"Yeah, yeah, sure. Anyway, skills...?"

The lil' guy sighed, again.

"Just say {Open}. That'll allow you to see your stats, skills... And everything else."

"...Open?"

"No, not really. More like... {Open}."

Matt took a big breath.

"...{Open}."

And, to his surprise...! Nope, just kidding. Nothing happened. The two stood there for a second, in the most awkward silence known to man. No, like, I'm being for real. They just looked at each other, before Matt broke the ice.

"Uh... Nothing came up."

The lil' guy sighed again, again.

"...Weird. People from Yuuda have {Window's}, just not skills..."

He put his hand on his sword's handle, and asked in a serious tone, with a even more serious expression on his face.

"Where did you say you were from?"

Matt, who was still on the ground, slowly started to get up.

"Ah, who, me? Good ol' United States, buddy..."

His hand started sparking in a purple light.

The short guy's expression quickly changed upon hearing that.

"United... States...?"

Matt, confused, replied with a "Uh... Yeah?"

Seriously, what's this guy's name... I'm getting impatient... Anyway, the short guy pulled a notebook from... Fuckin' somewhere, I don't know, man, and he quickly started writing things down, and got closer and closer to Matt.

"What's that?! Where is it?! How big is it?!"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa?! S-Slow down...!"

"Tell me, tell me, tell me!"

"W-Well... It's uh, big... And... Separated into states...?"

After another few more hours.

At a table, somewhere in a corner of the library, sat two boys, talking.

"So... About this... What was it... Uh, Ohio? Wait, before that, can we go over France again?"

"Yeah, both great, very great... Look, kid, how much more do you wanna know...?"

"Kid? I'm no kid. I'm 19."

Matt stood up, and almost screamed out in surprise.

"Y-You're older than me?!"

"Then maybe show some respect..."

"Right, right... Look, so... About those skills?"

"What about them?"

"I wanna learn this... What was it, {Convey}?"

"Oh, is that all? Wait here."

Matt still didn't get a name... Well, at this point, whatever...

The shorty went to the girl at the front desk, talked to her for a bit, and came back with a book. He, uhm, also paid that entry fee Matt never bothered to...

He put it on the table, in front of Matt.

"Here, read this and you'll learn it. It's a {Skill Book}."

Matt just looked at him with a disappointed look.

"...Riiight. Different world."

He sat down next to him.

"Fine, I'll read it to you."

"Ah... Can't wait..."

And yup... You guessed it...

After a few more hours...

By this point, it was getting dark, and Matt wasn't really getting anything done. Like, holy shit man. Zero progress was done today. Great.

No, sorry, actually. I lied. Well, uhm, kinda?

Matt's progress today in this new world:

~(Barely) learned {Convey}, so talking to locals was now, supposedly, easy.

~Made a new friend, Lando. Finally, he... He got his name... I'm so happy...

~Realized that he can't use {Window}, like literally any other person on this planet. So no leveling system for him, like in those manga's... Well, anyways.

Progress was slow, but it was there for sure!

As Matt sat down on the same chair from before, he suddenly got a little bit curious. And so, he asked Lando, who was sitting opposite from him, a question.

"Hey, uh, Lando. I meant to ask before, but like... Are you a knight or something?"

Lando looked up from his notebook, that was now filled with countries from Earth and states from the US.

"Hmm? Oh, yeah, I am. I'm the oldest son of the Svulda family."

"Is that like... A big family?"

Lando laughed at the question asked by Matt.

"C'mon now, no time for jokes..."

"No, uh, I'm serious..."

He stopped laughing.

"W-Wait, really? Like, you had no idea who you'd been talking to all day?"

Matt scratched his head.

"Uh... Nope?"

Lando sighed for about the... What, ten thousandth time today? Then, he answered.

"Svulda is the biggest family in Prichel, and ranked sixth in the whole of Nikleheim."

"Ah, riiight... And uhm..."

Nevermind, make that ten thousand and one times...

"Prichel is the continent you and I are in right now, and Nikleheim is the planet we're on currently."

"Ahhh, that sooo...?"

Matt got out of his chair, and fell down on one knee, like a knight facing the king and his queen, in approximately one second and a half.

"W-Well, your majesty... I-I'm deeply sorry for how I've been talking with thou..."

"N-No, dude, there's no need... Really, really... I'm not like my father, I'm not into this type of stuff."

Matt got up, and wiped the sweat off his forehead.

"Here I was thinking my head was about to roll..."

"Ah, no, if you were talking with anyone else from my family, you'd be looong dead. You'll love them when y'all meet, trust me! Hahaha!"

Lando laughed a bit, and Matt joined in.

"Hahah, yeah, I'm sure I..."

Matt stopped midsentence, and looked down at Lando. Have I mentioned that he's really short yet...?

Lando looked back up at him, with a face that screamed "So, 'sup?"

"W-What do you mean by... Love them when I'll meet 'em?"

"Oh, did I forget to mention it? I decided to make you my ally-!"

Before he could finish his sentence completely, Matt cut in.

"Declined."

"Jesus, that was fast!!"

Matt sighed, and scratched his head again.

"Look, man, I have no interest in joining the Smulda family."

"It's Svulda."

"So it's Sbulda. Whatever. Look, I just wanna go home. Maybe find the asshole that came here with me, and kick his ass."

"If you accept, you'll have passing to wherever you want. No passport needed."

"Thanks, but I'm sure I'll be fine without one..."

"Now that I think about it, I heard a few days ago that people with electricity skills are extremely needed, and my father's willing to pay them 10 million Nikles per month..."

Matt cracked his neck, fingers, and back.

"Aight, when do I start?"
