The Gatelings

{DISCONTINUED} Twenty three years ago, something strange occurred in peoples' normal lives... A phenomenon that is known as 'The Gates' among humanity. They were big, strange and purple doors that appeared absolutely everywhere on Earth, all the way from Asia to Europe to the USA. Modern humanity took these as a threat, of course. Even if they've stayed closed and quiet, humanity's leaders banded together and created something... Something that would protect Earth and its inhabitants from danger. That was TGG, which was short for... The Gate Government. They quickly dispatched armed soldiers to each and every Gate that they knew of, and announced to the public that all was good and well! But, obviously, that was... Just not the case. As The Gates stood there doing nothing for a long while, the soldiers were, at one point, dismissed. Until, they slowly but surely started opening... By they, I mean The Gates. The soldiers were, once again, quickly dispatched to The Gates, with orders to shoot on sight anything and everything that came out of them. And they stuck to said orders, expecting dragons, orcs and goblins to come out of the Gates. And finally, once The Gates had completely opened... Humans came out of them..? ...Uhm... Sorry, what...?

Reappearence

April 1st, 11:18 AM.

An hour before disaster.

Reaper and his troops also started moving towards where the battle will take place.

He was on top of the Tree Sentinel, but having to constantly keep it "plugged in" for it to keep moving was burning his fuel, and pretty fast.

He also knew that there was no other man for the job, since his electricity was the strongest among all of his people.

As he wiped his sweat with his sleeve, he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to see a very familiar face, because it was also his own.

"Hmm? Ah, Begone."

"Yo~ Ain't ya' tired?"

"I'm fine. And even if I do get tired, it's not like I have a choice to stop the whole army just so I can sit on my ass for a few minutes."

Begone clapped a bit at that statement.

"Wow, thought like a true leader, huh... Well, anyway. I'll tell Anemo to throw you a bottle of water when I get down."

"Thanks. Appreciate it. Ah, while you're at it, tell Disappear to craft a hunting knife."

"Hmm? Why would you need a knife? Loosing trust in your scythe skills?"

Reaper chuckled at that.

"Pfft... You do realize who you're talking to, right? It's not for me, it's for him. I was joking with the whole backpack stuff. He needs to defend himself."

"Ah, gotcha. On it, then."

After the usual blue flash, Begone was once again down with the rest, and started talking with them.

A while after, he saw a water bottle in his peripheral vision, coming at what he saw as 200mph.

He hardly caught it, then yelled below.

"Hey! Don't knock me out with it! If I fall, this thing goes down too! Jesus!"

After sighing, he opened it and drank about half of it.

Then, he mumbled to himself.

"Shiiit... That hit the spot..."

"Must've been nice, huh?"

After choking on said water, he coughed and closed it back up.

"Begone... C'mon dude... Y'gotta stop doing that."

"Bzzt! Wrong."

"Wha...?"

After turning around, he saw none other than Fountain.

"...How even?"

She thought for a second before responding.

"Took the stairs."

"There's none."

"Damn, he's good... Then, I took the, uh, elevator?"

"There's none."

"...I prayed a lot and God put me up here?"

"You're an atheist."

"Damn, he's good..."

Reaper sighed, again.

"No, I just have common sense... I'm guessing Anemo threw you up here with the water bottle."

"Damn, he's good..."

"Oi, what are you, a broken recorder or something? Stop."

Fountain sighed as well and sat down, then she started laughing pretty hard.

"Huh? What?"

"Pfft... Hey Mr. Common Sense, you're kinda not keeping this thing alive right now."

She pointed downwards.

"Wha...?!"

When Reaper looked down, he indeed did stop supplying power to the golem. He quickly started again.

"Shit... Tell me sooner, no? Unless you wanna die, alongside me and everyone below..."

"But I thought you reaction would be funny if I told you later rather than sooner. I was right!"

Reaper sighed for about the 320th time today, and just kept moving the golem forward.

"We're gonna be in a war in a few hours, I don't reckon that this is the best time for lil' jokes. Especially yours."

He really emphasized the 'especially,' by the way.

"Oh c'mon, my jokes are great! I'm sure you love them."

"Ah, for sure I do. I could listen to them all day and night long. Guaranteed."

"Hmm, s'that so? Here I was, thinking you'd like to hear "something else" all night long..."

Reaper sat in silence for a second, before giving his reply.

"...Fou... No, Emily, I might crash this thing for real. Please stop."

"N-No, it was a joke... S-Sorry..."

Reaper slapped himself twice on both cheeks, muttered to himself "Get your mind outa' the gutter...", and continued moving the Sentinel forward.

And so, Hell Incarnated continues moving forward, towards battle. But so does Killjoy's army.

Both are marching towards an presumedly easy victory, and yet neither of them know that this would be anything other than easy.

Then, if both are fools who shall underestimate the other, then I see no further reason to keep watch over them for now.

I say we... Skip forwards a little. Juust a little, I promise~

April 3rd, 00:56 AM.

Middle of the night.

Here. Perfect. They've already been at battle for about two days now. By now, they've probably stopped underestimating the other.

Somewhere, behind a giant tree, sit a handful of people. Not even a dozen, I'm pretty sure.

One is badly hurt, laying on the ground, while the others are attending to him. He had cuts all over his body, as if he just came out from a blade tornado...

Sounds familiar?

A girl who was attending to him slammed her fist into the ground.

"Shit... Hey, do we not have any other healers nearby?"

"No, I don't think so... We're way too spread out, at this point... They'll slowly kill us all one by one..."

The girl slammed her other fist into the ground as well.

"Fuck! Fuck..."

The one laying on the ground started coughing, and slowly attempted to get up.

"H-Hey now... I'm still..."

He coughed blood, before continuing.

"Still alive..."

The girl stopped him, before he could fully get up.

"Stand down, Matt. Your cuts are deep..."

"Ahh, so he... He got me good then, huh... That bastard..."

"Goddamn it... Maybe if Walter was here..."

"Naaah... He's on Jinn's side... We just gotta find a healer of our own or something..."

At this point, using nicknames was useless. They didn't really bother with them anymore.

With that said, Emily now had tears in her eyes.

"Damn it, Matt... You're doing this again..."

Matt had a look of confusion on his face while asking, "Doing what?"

"Almost dying on me, you fucking asshole! Just stop already..."

"...Yeah, I'm sorry."

An idea appeared in his head.

Matt took a big breath, and stood up.

"W-Wait! Ma-"

Before Emily could finish her sentence, Matt screamed at the top of his lungs. Nothing in particular, just noise.

He screamed so hard, to the point that electricity was flowing out of him, and electrocuting anything nearby.

He took another big breath, and screamed out again, but this time, it was words.

"Let's fight again, you fucking bastaaard!"

Then Matt sat down again, and started panting and gasping for air.

"...Jesus. What was that for?"

"Had to pump myself up."

After saying that, Matt gathered some electricity on his finger, and started to run it across his cuts. It burned like hell. But it was closing the wounds up.

Not being able to resist the pain, he just screamed out again, probably louder than before.

"Fuuuuuuck!!"

After finishing closing his wounds up, he once again was gasping for air.

"Fuuuck meee.... That hurt..."

He cracked his neck and fingers, then once again got up.

"Whatever. I can't die until that motherfucker dies first."

He looked at his fellow men, and one girl, then he clapped his hands.

"Okay then! We're missing Nicole, so we can't start this piece of shit up again! Oliver's not around either! But we have some useful Agilies to work with!"

He looked around, and quickly made a plan.

"Hmm... Hmm, hmm, hmm... Alright, got it. You!"

He pointed at a short European boy.

"Y-Yessir!"

"You're a magnet, right? Wasn't there someone else like you?"

"W-Well, yes... Me and Andrei can use something similar to magnets... But he's not here right now..."

"Good then! We're gonna go look for Andrew? Or Andrei? Whatever! We're going! But if he's dead... You're gonna have to bring that down, all by yourself."

Matt pointed at an iron giant, standing very far away from them. So far that they couldn't even take a guess at it. But anyway, it wasn't actually just... Standing. It was patrolling.

You guessed it. Atop of it sat our favorite "hero," Kinko Jinn. Or Killjoy. But that name wasn't so important right now.

It was built of trash, iron, metal... Just whatever would stick to it, really.

And Matt needed to bring it down, and fast.

The kid gulped, before answering.

"Y... Yessir..."

"Good. Now, that's that... But, since we can't get this running..."

Matt slapped the drained Sentinel behind him.

"We're in need of something new! And I think all of us here can pull it off!"

Emily sighed.

"Matt, we have, what... Water, electricity, some other elements, and magnetism... How're we gonna do that?"

Matt laughed at that, before leaning on the Sentinel.

"I have a plan, don't worry. Actually, I think we only need us two to pull it off as well."

"...Uh, how's that gonna work?"

Matt chuckled before responding.

"We know damn well two kids with magnetic powers can't bring down a 70 foot iron giant. That's why... We're gonna set up a booby trap! I actually only need them two to throw him far enough away after he's electrocuted."

"...You're crazy, y'know? Fine, let's do it. What's first?"

He stood upright, before smirking.

"Glad ya' asked."

April 5th, 04:36 PM.

It's been 5 days since this started. Jesus...

Anyways, Matt's army got extremely spread out at first, so for the past few days, he was just running around, gathering whoever could be found.

He did eventually find Nicole and that Andrei kid, but they didn't plan on using the Sentinel anymore. It really didn't match up to Jinn's iron giant. So, they had a new plan.

Matt goes up to fight Jinn one-on-one. He's gonna get up with the help on Nicole.

While they're fighting, the people below, who can use water, will set up a huge puddle. When the giant steps over it, he concentrates his electricity in it. Once the electricity hits the water, maybe or maybe not he'll loose his footing and tilt over.

When that happens, the two kids who can use magnetism will try their very best to disassemble it, with help from Sam, who was also found.

Then Nicole blows it and Jinn away, while Matt jumps down. And uh, the rest isn't really planned... But it'll work itself out. Maybe. Or... Uh, maybe not...

And that was basically what Matt explained to everyone too.

"And... That's about it. Any questions?"

One of the kids who could use magnetism raised his hand.

"Uh, when will we do this?"

"Two days from now, on the 7th, in the no man's land. Any others?"

Sam raised his hand as well.

"How will I be useful in disassembling that thing?"

"Fire. Lots of it. Any others?"

"Well... Gotcha."

Finally, Emily raised her hand.

"How will you take on Jinn, alone? We haven't found Alex yet, so you're out of weapons."

"Uh, I'll borrow a sword or something."

"But then you'll be at a disadvantage."

"Well, yeah, but-"

"No but's, Matt. That's suicide."

Matt sighed.

"...Maybe so. But if I don't go up there, who will? Any volunteers?"

Everyone went quiet.

"...Yeah. Big surprise."

"Matt, you can't-"

Matt yelled out, "Yes I fucking can!"

He slammed his fist in the tree he was leaning against.

"My brother's missing! Alex's missing! More than half of my army is fucking missing! We wasted enough time! Time we didn't and still don't have!"

Everyone was once again quiet.

"...Shit... I'm gonna go get us food, as usual. Put out the fire once I leave, I'll make another when I get back."

He started walking away, but stopped midway.

"Two days. Prepare for then."

Matt then walked off into the forest, to look for food. He usually comes back with some small animals, and it was barely enough to keep everyone fed, but nobody could or would complain.

Two days. Everything will end in two days. Either side could win this.

It all depended not on Nicole, Emily and the rest. It all sat on Matt's shoulders. If he fails to take on Jinn up on the giant, then it's all over. He needed to fight with not only his all, but more.

That's why, he had a little plan. A plan he didn't tell anyone about, because he didn't want to worry his friends. But a plan that might just work.

He called it {UltraNova}, and it was going to work. It had to... If it didn't, it's game over.

As he was walking through said woods, he did realize that Emily had a point. He didn't have Alex, so no scythe. He could also fight with daggers, but those wouldn't work again Jinn and his {Death Cutter}...

So, he sat down on a fallen log nearby, and started thinking. Not about anything specifically, just... Thinking. He had the {UltraNova}, but he needed to get close enough to Jinn to use it... So he needed... A plan for the plan. Wow.

And so, he started trying things.

Fighting with his legs? Nope, nope... What if he hurt them? Or if Jinn cut one off? Then it would be "Bye bye, {UltraNova}"...

Fighting with his fists? Well, at that point, just get the daggers... So, automatic fail.

As he was swinging his fist around, he realized something.

Even though he was empty handed his hands still moved like they were... Holding something. Something long. Something heavy, and yet swift.

A scythe.

Matt's brain went into overdrive again.

He started thinking of all the weapons that could imitate a scythe. A spear was the closest, but it wouldn't work in the long run. With a spear you poke, not swing. It's similar, yet somehow very different.

Nothing else really worked... So he thought... Fuck it. It's useless to try to replace the scythe. Maybe he should give up on finding a replacement, and fight with a swo...

Ah, wait a second... But then...

Why give up on the scythe at all...?

April 7th, 4:29 AM.

Doomsday.

This day was going to decide everything. It was the grand finale. Everyone was nervous. Matt and his people decided to attack at night, in an attempt to maybe catch Jinn by surprise.

Fat chance, though. This guy had his defense up all the time, since the start of this goddamn battle... He did suck at actually finding Matt's troops, though, can't lie.

Well, anyways, let's leave the chit-chat aside. It's time to end this war.

Matt, who was sitting down on the ground with his friends, suddenly jolted upwards. He was growing impatient.

"Alrighty, I'm done waiting."

Nicole sighed, but didn't bother to get up as well.

"Hey, hey... Let's wait a little while more. He's too far, you'll get spotted before you can get to him."

"Nope, nope no nopey. If we wait for Jinn go get here, it'll already me morning. Either I go now, or I don't go."

As he pridefully said that, he got sprayed in the face with water.

"Calm down, Matt. Nicole can't use her powers that far away. Either he gets closer or Nicole does, and that's not a great plan. We'll just wait."

Matt put on his best smile and looked at Emily, even though he had a vein on his head indicating that he was mad. I swear I saw something like this in cartoons before...

Uh, anyway, Matt really had no intention of waiting. He started jumping up and down, as to warm up.

"No can do. We've waited for like four hours now. He ain't coming this way."

Matt then lied on the ground, and continued his warm up. Stuff you'd usually do at soccer practice.

"Yes can do, Matt... You can't get up there without Nicole, and she can't get that close to Jinn without, y'know, dying..."

He then started doing squats.

"Alright then, change of plans."

"Fine, whatever then, which pla- Okay, you're kinda pissing me off now... Why are you warming up?! This ain't some soccer or football match!"

Matt then jumped up, pretty far off the ground.

"Witness the new and improved me!"

The second his feet touched the ground, he took off running, leaving a trail of purple behind, and bolts wherever he stepped.

His whole camp sighed.

Nicole and Emily sighed more than everyone else.

"Ooof course... Did he get faster?"

"At this point, who knows how much new shit he can do... Let's go. Hey, the two European boys! Get ready, yeah? You too, Sam!"

The three sat upright and saluted, like soldiers towards Emily.

"Ma'am, yes ma'am!'

"I'm fighting a war with a bunch of children..."

Nicole thoughts for a second, about if she should tell her or not, but decided to stay quiet in the end.

Whatever was left of Hell Incarnated started running as well, towards the giant.

Of course, Matt was the fastest. He was running like there was no tomorrow. And uh, if he failed, then that was the case...

As Matt was running, he realized something. He realized that he loved this. The wind in his face, his feet touching the ground over and over again... He was just enjoying himself.

And so, his confidence only grew.

As he was running, random with kept falling around him.

"Huh, that's weird... Nobody said anything about raining metal today...", he thought to himself.

When he finally bothered to look up, he saw the cause of this raining metal. The iron giant was now turned towards him. A orange light on top of it signaled the fact that Jinn was simply throwing shit at him. It was also marching forward.

"Damn, this guy's aim sucks..."

As he thought that, a piece of scrap, going at about ten fucking thousand miles per hour flew right by him, leaving a scar on his arm. If he wouldn't have dodged that, his right arm would've been cut off.

"Ohh... He's just playing with me, then..."

Matt started hitting the ground below him harder with his feet.

"Alright then Jinny, let's play!!"

As his speed increased, so did the number of objects flying at him. He was dodging left and right, right and left, but they just didn't stop.

Matt knew that Jinn couldn't keep firing forever, though. Otherwise his giant would fall apart. This was just meant to tire Matt out.

Hahaha! Yeah, right.

We're talking about someone who's a literal battery here. As long as he had fuel, he'd be fine. And right now, Matt was feeling like he had a full tank that wasn't gonna empty anytime soon!

The distance between them was rapidly decreasing. And, sooner or later, Matt finally got to the giant's leg, and Jinn's attacks stopped.

Matt then screamed out in excitement.

"Well, hello sailor!!"

Right, now let's talk about Matt's plan. One that let's him get up to Jinn, without Nicole's help. As you'd all expect, it was gonna be a difficult one to pull off...

Ah, well, yeah, no, not really. Oops.

Basically, uh... He was gonna run. Fast. Smart, no?

Actually, one more thing.

He wasn't gonna run from it or something like that. He was gonna run on it.

And that he did! As he got to its leg, he stopped suddenly, and he was basically ice-skating on the ground! Literally right in the middle of that, he put himself in a athlete runner's starting position!

The literal millisecond his momentum stopped, he put all of his power in his legs, and started running so fast and with so much power that he left a hole where he started.

Then, right before kissing said leg with his whole face, he jumped, and extended his foot towards the giant's.

Matt needed to be exact, precise and accurate. This whole time, his brain was in overdrive. It felt like time was moving twice as slow for him.

And precise he fucking was! Once again, the millisecond his feet touched that big pile of iron, he sprinted like his life depended on it! Because it uhm, it did!

At the same time, he let out a scream, in either frustration or excitement, or maybe even both.

And, holy fucking shit, he was doing it!

From Emily and the other's side, who were still quite far away, they saw something incredible. A big, purple blur, running circles around Jinn's robot... No, rather, running circles on it!

"Wha... Holy shit... Is that Reaper?!"

"How the hell..."

"Hey, stop staring and let's get going!"

"A-Ah, yes, Fountain!"

While I did say that they stopped using codenames half-way, this was only for the, uhm... How do I say this nicely... Important people?

For example, a random kid didn't know Matt's or Emily's real names, so he just called them whatever he was used to- Reaper and Fountain. I mean, they probably learnt them at one point, but- Ugh, whatever. Y'all got it, no?

Anyways, with that out of the way, let's continue. Where was I... Ah, right. High-schooler running upwards on an iron giant. Right. Cool cool cool.

Matt's feet just kept kicking constantly. He was gradually gaining height. He was slowly going up towards Jinn!

Jinn had to had been getting desperate! Random stuff just kept flying at Matt from all directions, but little did he care. He was just dodging them in all directions, with just one goal in mind...

Fuck Jinn up!

Eventually, after a running for a while, he noticed something. Something that looked like a shoulder. Probably because it was. Y'all know what this means, right?

It's fucking showtime, ladies and gentlemen!

Matt jumped, and in mid-air, he started spinning!

When he got to the very top of the giant's head, where Jinn was, a purple aura was emanating from Matt, who was still spinning.

Jinn grabbed ahold of his katana, and unsheathed it.

"Motherfucker!"

"Why hello there, Kinky!"

Suddenly, Matt stopped spinning, and extended his arm out.

"Fuck're you gonna do, Matt?! You're unarmed!"

Electricity started running out of Matt's hand, probably more than he used to get here in the first place.

"Check again, loser!"

Then, Jinn was hit with something. He went tumbling backwards, almost falling off, but stopping his momentum with his katana and Agily.

"Ugh, piece of..."

When Jinn looked up, standing in all his glory, was none other than... No, not Matt. I think Reaper suits him more right now.

He had his hood up, a purple mask made of electricity on his face, and, the cherry on top, a scythe, made of electricity.

It wasn't his normal electricity. It was so concentrated and pure, it wasn't even purple. It was yellow.

And Reaper was about to enjoy using it.

"I'd like to greet you again, Kinky... Properly."

He started spinning his scythe around, and as usual, bolts were jumping everywhere.

"So, let's do just that."

Suddenly, he struck downwards, and hit right in-between Jinn's legs, making a hole in the iron he was on.

"Hello, Killjoy. I'm the Grim Reaper. And today, I'm here to take you to the afterlife."

Killjoy chuckled.

"C-Crazy bastard... You never learn, huh..."

"Oh, shi-!"

Too late. It seems Reaper still didn't get over his underestimating problem. If he would've paid more attention instead of introducing himself like a dumbass, he would've noticed that Killjoy's katana wasn't in his hands.

He tried to turn around, but, as I said, too late. Killjoy's {Death Cutter} had already fulfilled it's duty, and did as the name suggested. It cut Death.

It pierced into Reaper's left hand, somewhere above the elbow.

"Agh!! Motherfuc-!"

Then, Killjoy retracted it, and called it back in his hand.

"You're too careless, Reaper."

"Ah, is that so... Ya' ever looked in a mirror, assface?"

Reaper's right hand already reacted to the pain, and was now swinging the scythe towards Killjoy.

He barely noticed and dodged it in time, but he still got scratched.

"Tsk... You're annoying today, huh..."

"When was I not?"

Reaper tried closing his wound with electricity again, but he couldn't fully do it. At least he slowed the bleeding...

"Ouch ouch ouch... That never ceases to hurt, man..."

Killjoy ran towards Reaper, and tried swinging his blade at his head, and...

Reaper blocked it with his scythe, and pulled closer.

"I was in the middle of something, asshole."

Then Reaper kicked Killjoy away, and he was on the ground once more.

He started spinning his scythe again.

"I'm disappointed, Jinn. I thought for sure that I wouldn't be able to beat you. Turns out I was wrong."

Killjoy looked at the ground.

"...Up... You..."

Reaper sighed.

"You're mumbling again, man. C'mon, spit it out."

"Shut the fuck up, you retard."

In that instant, Killjoy's blade went up high in the air, then started to come back down rapidly while spinning.

"Shit...!"

Reaper reacted, but barely dodged it. But the {Death Cutter} didn't stop, it just kept going.

And it did the same thing again, and again, and again, and again.

Reaper was getting tired, and it was obvious Killjoy was stalling for time. He had to end this, soon. He couldn't afford not to end it in one hit either.

"Fuuuck... I really didn't wanna do this..."

Killjoy got up again, and held his katana's sheath as a weapon.

"Come at me, you shitty reaper!"

Reaper then timed it perfectly- the second Killjoy's blade went past him, he jumped, and started spinning.

He was gaining more and more speed and power, but he was on a timer.

All of his electricity was gathering in one place, his right foot!

"That's capital R for you, motherfucker! Eat this!"

Reaper then stopped spinning, faced Killjoy, and...

"{UltraNova}!"

He took a shot at his stomach, mid-air, as if it was a goddamn soccer ball!

But, things weren't all that nice and dandy...

Let's slow things down a bit.

Now, Reaper's right foot is heading towards Killjoy's stomach. He obviously couldn't block it in time, so it was gonna connect.

But, his {Death Cutter} is making its way right towards Reaper's leg... And it's just a hair short of getting there first.

Basically, both are gonna take damage. Critical damage.

It's not a battle of strength anymore, it's a battle of who will bleed out first and die from their wounds.

And you and me, my friend, are gonna be here to watch.

Reaper's foot finally connected with Killjoy's stomach.

The second they made contact, a lot of purple, green, yellow... Fuck it, basically lightning of all colors started spreading throughout Killjoy's body, and because of the shoot's power, a giant hole was now where the foot hit.

After said hole appeared, a gray blur appeared in front of Reaper. The next second, his leg was gone. Cleanly cut off.

It's probably for the better. Because of the amount of power Reaper used, a portion of it would've backfired back at him. Killjoy did him a favor.

And with that... The fight was over. But not the war.

Because of the shockwave, both leaders went flying. Reaper flew off the giant, and Killjoy barely held on for dear life. But still, it was rather useless. As his conciseness slipped away, so did his power. The whole giant started to fall apart. Soon, it was nothing but a pile of garbage and metal.

As I said, Reaper went flying. But, as if someone or something was looking down at him, he just so happened to land in a body of water. Lucky bastard.

He also lost consciousness the moment he hit said water.

Because of the amount of open wounds on him, electricity started seeping out of them. Making the water dangerous for anyone, except him, of course. Meaning, nobody could get to him.

One lying on a giant mountain of metal, one lying in electricity infested water.

Sounds familiar?

I'm assuming you all know the rest.

Both of their troops fighting to get to them, everyone screaming for healers, missing people...

No matter who won this war, it... Wasn't really a victory. For nobody.

Eventually, the two sides did stop fighting and put full effort into getting their leaders.

Again, in vain. An useless effort.

Matt's scythe and mask are both already long gone, and Jinn's katana was nowhere to be found either. With all that metal around, I'm not surprised...

The water in which Matt was lying in was slowly getting redder and redder. And he was still unreachable.

The pile of metal on which Jinn was lying on was slowly getting redder and redder as well. He was still unreachable as well.

Both are so close to death... Yet neither gave up on life. They both wanted to live- to see the end of their stories.

This is no place to die!

Both the leaders slowly got up. Matt made himself a very temporary leg with electricity. Jinn patched up the hole with whatever pieces of cloth he could get his hands on.

Again, both the leaders started marching towards the other. Their troops just sat and watched, in awe. By this point, both Emily and Chloe had reached said place.

The two didn't fight, or even say a word. They just both watched in awe as well, with tears in their eyes caused by the sight.

Neither Matt nor Jinn had the strength to wield a weapon anymore. So they walked, and just kept on walking.

As mentioned before, the distance was quite far, but they... They just... Kept walking...

A trail of blood behind both of them, but they wouldn't stop.

Everyone screaming at them to stop, but they wouldn't stop.

Their wounds aching and hurting, but they wouldn't stop.

Rain started to pick up. It was quite heavy as well. Both Emily and Chloe are full on sobbing by now. It was as if God was telling them to stop.

But they wouldn't stop.

And eventually, they reached one another.

They just looked each other in the eye, and started talking like nothing even happened in the first place.

"...Nice leg."

"Thanks. Brand new. Love what you did with your stomach."

"Tsk... Still annoying..."

"Yeah, as usual."

A moment of silence followed, before being broken by Matt.

"...My brother's missing."

"My men didn't kill him, nobody reported so to me. Neither did I."

"...Fuck you. Thanks. Alex is too."

"In the end, I couldn't get my hands on him..."

"Thank fucking God, you asshole..."

Another moment of silence. This time, it was Jinn who broke it.

"...You wanna take a punch at each other? Just because?"

Matt grinned, then laughed, before responding.

"You fucking bet!"

Electricity started surrounding Matt's fist. Stronger than any before. Even more than the yellow scythe, because this one was white.

A orange aura surrounded Jinn's fist, signaling that he was going to go all out.

"The rain just fits this perfectly..."

"Sure does, Jinn. Now... Let's go."

"...Yeah!"

With everyone watching, both leaders screamed as loud as they could, and swung at each other.

But... Just before their powered fists collided with one another, a bright flash appeared.

A gigantic, purple flash.

In an instant, it quickly closed back up in a little purple ball.

One that just happened to be right in-between the leaders' fists.

When they collided with the ball, another, even bigger flash appeared, one that blinded everyone watching.

This time, it pushed the two leaders away, and knocked them to the ground.

The literal second after, the light disappeared. Everyone took a second to rub their eyes, and when they looked back...

A Gate stood in-between the two leaders. One that looked just like the photos. Just like the drawings. Just like you'd imagine.

A big, purple door, standing at two meters tall.

Just like before.

The two leaders looked at it, surprised.

"H-Hey! What the hell is that?!"

"What the fuck do you mean, Jinn! That's a fucking Gate! It sure looks like one!"

Screams and yells could be heard everywhere, of confusion mostly.

As the two standing on either side of the Gate were arguing, it slowly started to open.

But, this time, it would take long.

Suddenly, its "door" swung open! But no gatelings this time... Instead, it began slowly emitting a faint breeze...

"Hey, hey! What the fuck's happening?!"

The breeze got stronger.

"How the hell am I supposed to know?! Just get away from it!"

Suddenly, the breeze stopped. Instead, it started sucking instead.

"H-Hold up! It's pulling me in! Shit!"

The suction got stronger.

"Fuck! Fuck this damned leg! I can't run!"

At this point, it was like a vacuum cleaner. It was pulling the two in at crazy speeds.

"S-Shit! No!"

As the two got closer and closer to the Gate, they grabbed on to whatever they could. Their feet were now inside of The Gate.

"J-Jinn! Shit! We need to close it!"

"How?!"

Matt's left hand slipped, and was now hanging near his body, uselessly.

"F-Fuck...! I don't know! We need a plan!"

"Ah, shit, it hurts... My fucking stomach... I can't... Hold on...!"

"This is so hard with one hand... Shiiit!!"

In their current state, it was impossible to do anything about the Gate...

The two locked eyes. Even though they were enemies, even though they were rivals, even though they wanted each other dead... They knew what had to be done.

They nodded to one another.

They took a big breath, then shouted at the top of their lungs.

"Emily!!"

"Chloe!!"

"We'll be right back!!"

The two let go at the same time, and got sucked in completely. The second they were out of sight, the Gate closed back up.

The two girls who were watching from the sidelines were so surprised and in denial that not even tears were now pouring out of their eyes.

Chloe grabbed Emily, and ran to the Gate with her Agily.

She hit it a couple of times, only for it to remain unhinged.

Emily just kept watching the Gate, with the same look on her face.

"...What the fuck... Just happened?"

"I don't... I don't know..."

Both of the girls fell to their knees, and just looked up at the Gate, helplessly and uselessly.

What the hell just happened...?

Why did a Gate appear, and now...?

No, more importantly...

Where the hell are Matt and Jinn?
