training

~two years after joing the cadets~

Y/n pov:

It's been two years since Marcel was eaten. So far the training has been brutal and I'm best friends with this girl called Ymir. Aswell as Annie. I'm pretty sure Ymir loves Krista way to much. I'm cool with it.

Right now we are doing a training exercise. Basically seeing how long we can run in the rain with all our luggage soacking wet and the ground being really muddy. Not the best weather I have to admit.

"Your too slow," here he goes again. "Run faster you laggards."

Shadis thinks this is encouraging. He can't really talk. He rides his horse whilst we are all running.

'i wanna go back home.' I thought.

"What's wrong Arlet?" I turned around to see shadis talking to Armin. He was behind the rest of us so it was probably a shouting at.

I heard him say something about titan food or whatever. "Galliard stop daydreaming!" 

"Sorry sir." I shouted back at him.

Behind me, Reiner had offered to carry Armin's bag for him. And I though we were supposed to be the enemy.

~The next day~

We were given a training exercise where basically these wooden titans were moving and your had to cut the nape.

Annie used her 3DM gear to pull herself towards the wooden frame. Joking her swords together, she cut deep into the back of the titans neck.

I see Jean flying towards a fake titan. Shifting my anchors to face it, I cut the nape before he could get to it. "Sorry Jean, I got to it first."

He looked embarrassed but angry. It's was pretty funny. "Yeah whatever. I'll get the next one. Just you watch."

I followed him as he attempted to cut another nape but connie- no Sasha got to it first. "Haha" I laughed behind him.

He turned to me and said "shut up" but he seemed a little flustered.

"Awe is someone embarrassed." I teased

He ignored my antics and flew away.

"Alright that's it for today, meet at the training grounds after lunch."

"Sir." We all shouted.

I grabbed an onigiri from the mini cafe we had set up a few weeks ago and went over to Annie. "Hey" I smiled. Despite being younger than most of them, I was almost better at training. Unless it was hand to hand combat.

"Wanna team up after lunch?" Annie asked me.

"Sure. Don't see why not." I answered. "What is it anyways?"

"Hand to hand combat" Annie glanced at me for a second and smirked.

"If you had told me that I would've regected your offer," Annie is probably the best in our class at that stuff. Makes sense though. She was the best at Marley so I don't see why she wouldn't be the best here, but sometimes she lets her guard down and I manage to beat her.

After lunch we all headed to the training grounds and got into pairs. I was with Annie. As promised.

"Start!" Shadis shouted.

We both got into the same position, it's the same as the marleyan one. My two fists come up to my head as I stare at her.

I charge towards her, keeping my hand around my head and attack with my left hand. Which then she blocks with her right arm.  I swing my right fist towards her stomach but she grabs my wrist.

In an attempt to drag me down. I use my left hand to grab her waist and switch her over. I twisted my right hand so she was on the ground with her left arm behind her back.

"Nicely done galliard" shadis complents me.

"Thank you sir." I salute him

As I free Annie she says, "your getting better, and your hold is more secure."

"Your not bad yourself Annie. One wrong move I would've been on the ground.

"Alright trainees, next excercise. One of you will hold a sword and the other will attack. Try that."

He walked around and gave every pair a wooden sword.

He gave it to me and said "you go first." His voice was normal for once.

"Ready and."

I took my position with the knife in my right hand.

"Fight!" He yells.

Annie runs up to me and attempts to kick the sword out of my hand. I realise this and turn the sword on my hand so it faces down. (Imagining this was kinda cool ngl)

She is now on top of me, which gives me and excellent shot at her back. I bring the sword up to me and lightly stab her on the back.

"I have stabbed you Annie." I let her go from the position she was in. "Your turn." I hand her the knife and she immediately attacks me.

I was not ready for that at all. "Your opponents will strike at you when you least expect it y/n."

"Good advice" I say to her.
