Chapter 20

On the return trip home Vincent and James sat on a carriage. James told Vincent all about tomorrows meeting and its importance. When Vincent asked about why didn't he hear about the event earlier his father told him that he didn't want to distract Vincent from his training.

The day will start with the opening feast that will last a few hours, the feast itself is more of a social event than a political one yet still many powerful people will attend. The next event will only include the upper brass of each kingdom in a closed door conversation. During the same time the rest of the people will be shown a play. After the play will be the noon banquet, unlike the opening feast which was more a social event the banquet will be where the politics come into play. The royals from Gessia will be accompanied by not only some of their most loyal advisors and generals but also a handful of influential nobles. Many of the attending Nobles from Frent may attempt to befriend these foreign nobles from Gessia or attempt to set trade agreements. Some of the local and foreign nobles may even attempt to marry their offspring to one another. James could not understand the importance of the banquet. After the Banquet there will be multiple smaller parties and events in the Estates of some of the attending nobles but nothing related to either nations royals. The following day will also have a meeting between the two Royal families but it will be far more private and the day after the royals from Gessia will return to their country.
