Their jaws were dropping, the sight left them in a state of stagger. In a split second, not providing them a moment to fathom-
He just killed himself…
"What the hell was that…?"
All of them whispered, slightly distressed at the way he just jumped while screaming a certain name.
They could definitely tell it was more than mere mental illness, something else.
At the sight, Zephyr whose mind temporarily shut down, breathed out slowly.
"What the fuck did just happen?"
Frowning at his statement, Lady Red pulled his arm.
"Young Lord, don't curse,"
With a hiss, he slapped her hand away and panicked, losing his mind.
"A man fucking died in front of my eyes, how can I not fucking curse!?"
They showed no reaction when he became ill-mannered with the woman he respected the most unwillingly.
Instead, she sighed.
"You are just like your father,"
"What?" His expression twisted into confusion.
"He also curses whenever he panics," Yor informed him.
He hummed, holding his chin. He was actually proud to have any habit like him. It relieved him.
"That explains why he cursed when Zirkos came- then this means he had never panicked in the past eighteen years?!"
Yor chuckled, "He screamed a curse more loudly than your mother the day you were born,"
Zephyr ended up chuckling, he wanted to hear more about his father now. Now that he was gone, he urged hear tales.
To tell him that he was as brave as his father, as strong, as alike.
He wanted to hear it.
But, that moment of glee couldn't last when Delvin reminded them that someone just died in front of them.
"Someone is mourning before you, if you guys respect that," Delvin mocked them seriously.
"Great, so our journey is a waste?" Jay sighed in disappointment.
"No. Let's hear from the villagers and gather some information about him or the book,"
And Zephyr expressed his discontent to hear that.
"So we might have to stay in this pathetic place?"
"Yes,"
They sighed and separated ways to observe the place and collect information as Lady Red and Yor went to console the miserable man.
"No, no, please don't leave me!"
Crying, he hugged his father, tears streaming down his face. He refused to let him go, hiding his face in his chest.
"Father!"
When Zephyr saw his agonizing state, for a moment, he remembered about his father too.
He wanted to do the exact same thing, cry in the same way, beg in the same way.
But destiny had other plans for him.
"I will go-" Zephyr spoke sternly but they came in between.
"Definitely not. You don't know how to console a mourning person, you are heartless,"
Zephyr opened his mouth to argue because it was an insensitive remark towards a person who saw his father dying in front of his eyes.
He understood.
But, scoffed, remaining stoic.
"Hmph, fine, do whatever you want,"
Disliking the sound of wailing, he turned his horse to go away where the sound won't follow him.
He hated it, he hated the scene of mourning.
"Tsk, what a drag."
Muttering under his breath, hoping his words could hide his inner thoughts and ache perfectly.
But that was not how it worked.
When Zephyr was away, Lady Red was consoling the heartbroken male.
"Oh, I am so sorry about the loss of your father,"
"May Lord forgive his actions,"
"Get up. Let us give him a proper burial," Yor also added, giving his back a pat to get up.
Sniffling, he muffled his cries, gripping onto his shirt with too much pain. It was hard to witness the demise of your parents after all.
"Father…"
Meanwhile Zephyr was walking around in his white horse that people were seeing, considering him someone of high status.
"Who are you guys?"
The question gave the prince an invitation to declare his identity.
"I am the future-"
"We are travelers, we heard rumors about Jonas and wanted to witness but…"
But was cut off when Delvin hastily came in between, giving him an eye gesture to not create a commotion here.
"Leave. You won't gain anything here. He was crazy anyways,"
One of them said, gaining their interest.
"Should have known he would do this. Tsk, he even made our land tainted too,"
"Exactly."
"Crazy in what way?" Delvin asked vaguely.
They spoke so ill and bitterly about the poor dead soul, not even bothering to show some compassion.
"He used to speak stupid and senseless things,"
"Like?"
"He wanted to die to free himself-"
Before they could continue, an eighteen year old girl came, throwing a stone at them.
"Don't you dare to say anything about my grandpa, asshole!"
The girl with long black hair and eyes was utterly infuriated when they disrespected the dead.
Zephyr scoffed, "Tsk, such a foul tongue,"
"Says the one who was cursing just now," Delvin smirked.
"Mine is a genetic problem,"
Ignoring his troublesome fellow, Delvin asked the furiously girl gently.
"Who are you, Miss?"
"Don't listen to them, Mister Traveller, they make up rumors about my Grandpa."
The girl made an almost crying face, grabbing another stone to warn them so they won't insult him in front of outsiders.
"What? We do not lie, he was a crazy man,"
She yelled, throwing the stone, making them run away but shutting her eyes she ended up sobbing.
"They throw stones at him too, they all are bad!"
"All of us wanted us to leave because we have her cursed money!"
"You-"
She broke into a weak wail, losing her strength to fight them along with a broken heart.
They were hurting her and her family and she had enough of it.
"You are a pathetic girl," Zephyr sighed in disappointment, worsening her state of pain too by his cold remark.
Delvin's mouth gaped, "Zephyr-"
"What!?" She yelled.
'How heartless one who lost everything could be? He lost his father too, right?' Delvin thought in disappointment.
"What the hell do you mean by this?!"
Coming closer to fight him if she must but he didn't bother to pay heed to her and turned his horse away.
"What a useless daughter," He mumbled and turned his horse away.
She was about to curse but upon looking, she realized she was needed there more than this baseless argument.
Delvin blinked in bewilderment at what just happened and went after his friend with slight approval and a chuckle of relief.
"Shall I consider it a good deed by The Merciful Lord Zephyr?"
His vein popped, hitting him with the elbow before going away.
"Shut up. I spoke what I saw and felt like,"
